I would go with a Xbox 360 controller or a Xbox one controller. You will need a OGX360 adaptor and a Microsoft wireless receiver if your using a Xbox 360 control or a 8BitDo receiver if your using a Xbox One control. You should be right to unsolder that mod chip and solder in a new chip and be up and running You could use a Aladdin or a Open Xenium without any problems and both can have the BIOS updated as the chip that is there can not be updated and you are limited to a max HDD of 137 gig If you are fitting a Aladdin chip I suggest you link the BT on the modchip to pin 2 (GND) to male the chip always active. My test Xbox is a version 1.6 that is completely stock (no softmod or modchip) and it loads Xblast I tested a Xbox that has a modchip with X2-5035 and has XBMC as the dash and it is not working( it loads the game and then reloads XBMC same as your's) I changed the dash to unleash and tested a 2nd time and it loads Xblast. I also have the game disk in the drive and do a cold boot. Can you try changing the dash or on a different Xbox please. There is no 1 type of USB that will work. I have found that the smaller the better and the cheap ones seem to work better. Both the ones in the pic work in all my Xbox's and cost me $2 from eBay and are both 64 meg. The 1 with the key tag will work with Explorer 360 but the purple one will not work with Explorer 360. The short answer is NO because when you boot from a mod chip the Xbox can not see the TSOP chip until it is power cycled. There is a way or recovering the on board BIOS and it involves a modified BIOS on a mod chip and links on the board to temporary ground 2 points that get removed in the correct order that will allow the TSOP to be reflashed. Yes the TSOP and a mod chip are exactly the same. Did you flash the TSOP with the files I sent you or did you softmod 1st?
