I haven't put much thought into it for ages now. Got sidetracked learning new essential skills. I hadn't thought much further than including the latest releases, ogxbox skins and branding the installer.

I have the same problem. Addressing the soldering as soon as better equipment arrives. I hope it solves it.

Although you could run an xbox Linux distro then do cloud save from there, I'm thinking you want an xbe. One option would be an automated sync program to ftp files up to your server.
