  3. It was pre flashed and it's called JiffyDos https://www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/JiffyDOS Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

  4. Not exactly one of the first modchips. The earliest I could think of were the Xtender and the Enigmah which require 29/30 wires soldered to the TSOP points.

  5. Gotcha, so it’s just another chip alternative. Hopefully you’ll be able to offer competing prices, being that the Aladdin’s are so cheap already.

  6. I’m not looking to repair my drives. This topic is about helping @Bowlsnapper find a solution to his issue so I checked to see if had parts to offer him.

  7. Replace the drive with a Samsung drive or re-flash a compatible disc drive such as an LG GDR-8163.

  9. In the near future, ConsoleMods has a great guide on setting up a TSOP mod. I honestly prefer modchips because they're easily upgradable and doesn't permanently damage the on-board TSOP if it gets damaged during flashing.

  12. I've made a well written guide on how to setup FTP between your PC and your Xbox.

  13. Dude, that is exactly how I would make a site. And I'm going to: bowlsnapper.com. I already registered the domain. Just don't know what to use to build it... How did you get ANYTHING you could use today to build a website to build in that fashion? I don't really know web development... Lol I didn't know that you basically made the chip. Fuckin cool. How hard would it be to add a flash socked to the we can just drop the sst into our programmers?

  14. Wait... What website? @SylverReZ Found it. Very retro and badass. I also very highly approve of the version of Doom you're hosting...

  16. When I did a upgrade to my commodore computer floppy drive to add the faster data transfer that was a eprom replacement for the drive and mother board. Non of this re-flashing like now. 17. I remember those... And I remember thinking what a nightmare that would be. Lol.

  18. Yep the 1st mod chip was a prom (Program Read Only Memory) or eprom (Erasable Read Only Memory) that had 29 wires then the next was a eeprom ( Electrically Erasable Read Only Memory) (cheap mod) that soldered direct to the LPC port. 19. This thing looks like one of the first chips ever made. lmao. It definitely looks old.

  20. Very interesting to look back at some ancient modchips.

  21. Late to the party here. But I just basically want to mirror what the other have said. This is excellent news that we are going to have a Stellar competitor of sorts. Keep up the great work @NeMesiS I'm sure there will be a lot of demand for your project.

  22. Fitment could be improved on the v1.0-1.5 flex cable. But I'd just be nit picking. Do you think larger pads would help with soldering? I thought about the possibility of removing the encoder from the motherboard. Then to solder a PCB (with connector) to corresponding pads in it's place. On a side note I tried designing something similar for underneath the video connector. The idea was for it to go underneath where the video connector used to be. And to solder a wire to SPDIF pad then feed the wire through one of the holes. But those holes are rather small only allowing 28/30awg kynar wire through. It would be better to but the PCB on the top side of the video connector. But i was trying to avoid that as it might get in the way of the 3d printed bracket. I'm trying to do a single mounting bracket and hdmi port thingy. I figured this would be alot easier for installation.

  23. I'm following this thread closely since MakeMhz decided to make hd+ only work with stellat now so its $160+ no matter what. Dustin did say it was to reduce cost but it increased cost to the customer. He didn't have a problem selling them before all those years so we know its just him pushing $100 Stellar chip on people as its transparent. Either way it's awesome to have competition for the masses.

  24. There's no MCU on the StellarHD+ HDMI module Thats as about as far as I looked into that. I'll keep making them so long as they keep selling. After I'm confident with final design and had some testers try it out. I'll probably start with a small batch of 100pcs.

  25. Your better off comparing what I'm trying to do with the XboxHD+ not the StallarHD+ 0.5mm spacing I think... much like the xenium... I intent on selling preassembled units much like what I've been doing.

  26. Comparing the StellarHD+ and the older XboxHD+. I immediately noticed the lack of an MCU which seems to have been relocated over to the Stellar modchip. So the HDMI mod is more of just a daughter board now and cannot operate on it's own. If you just wanted the modchip you're still paying for much of the hardware for the HDMI mod. The HDMI mod now seems even more over priced considering there's no MCU or firmware. It's not difficult to work out how much the components are worth through sites like DigiKey and Mouser. Your only really left with the ADV7511 and a bunch of other basic components.

  27. I'm just attempting to get around Dustin. I wish it could be done... especially since he's already mass producing hardware that can be used with a certain bios if it's patched. (Ahem CERBIOS!!!! cough cough...) Excuse me.... Wish the already patched bioses could be reverse engineered to find the code that would make Cerbios work. I think that can only be done with source, though... Well, There's going to be HUGE demand for this hardware when you finish it. Because it's awesome. You will enable any bios to be used... Sounds like there's gonna be a line of people waiting, or people are going to have to solder them on their own if they want them... maybe it's a good time to learn to PCB solder, eh?

  28. There is also one for Rockys iND 5003 XISO bios. But it was for the initial HDMI version not for the later HD+ version so I'm not sure if it would work there as well.

  29. It’s not the board that is limiting the bios. It’s the patches that tell the Xbox how to use the hdmi board. There has only been patched for M8. (As far as I know). Other bioses could be used if someone made the patches necessary. (Way over my head)

  30. Wait a minute... are you saying that the chipset (one used in the MakeMHZ design) can be theoretically modified with firmware that you can write to allow for any bios to be used? Is there any way for him to block that without completely changing his design?

  31. WTF???? I know the Stellar guy has a bit if an attitude issue and that he has a dodgy past with some sort of scam.... I take it you have some sort of evidence and you're not just blindly accusing??
