which is highly unlikely if the fan connector is direct to mobo? . any potential insight into what could have been refurbished in this unit? were the V1's susceptible a power failure at one point?

Yes they would have to hack another power source to power the GPU fan if it isn't a 1.0. As far as what was refurbed, don't take that sticker too seriously. "Refurbished" became a "call to action" or "sell" word. 95% of the time if you see a console with refurbished stickers all over it, it was just a way to increase sales and make people think they aren't just buying a used console to give them more confidence to buy. If this did have a refurbish job completed on it, it was more than likely the disc drive or a bad power supply. most 1.0's would have a thomson disc drive. if it has a samsung, hitachi, or phillips, then they more than likely replaced the disc drive.

informative response. love your view on refurb. makes alot of sense from a marketing view. i would never call a new dvd drive a refurb but then again what do you call it. Thanks for that.
So ive 99% got a 1.0 which i am very pleased with.
The date/serial number sticker on this one also looks alot different than anything ive seen.
Looking closer now that you mentioned the dvd drive. this one was manufactured in 2005... BINGO thats the refurb. there is no way an xbox manufactured in 2002 had a dvd drive manufactured in 2005. thats not even math. thats just that.

Thank you very much.

      HELLO TO EVERYONE!!
After a long inactivity in this community , I come back with a game, it may be the first time to be modded in xbox, like this one. So I replaced some old textures with better and with a higher resolution (512x512) that the xbox support.
      And THx!!!
      Here some of screenshots:

Hi guys, I posted over at the Please login or register to see this link. but figured I would get more eyes here:
The og Xbox is a v1.0 and I rebuilt the stock HDD with Xboxhddmaker after a failed softmod clone months back.  I created my own EEPROM reader following Slot1Gamers helpful video to get the HDD key.  More info is in the reddit post, but it might be TL;DR.  The fact that this thing is artifacting makes me think it is a hardware issue like the GPU and/or CPU just sh$% the bed or something?  The lone suggestion was to reball / reflow the board.  Has anyone had similar issues and this solved it?  Is there a schematic of a v1.0 board that I could use as a checkoff list if I go the reflow route?  i suppose I could just take a photo and mark off areas in MSPaint or something...  any tips?

      - I removed the clock cap Please login or register to see this link.
      - I repaired Trace A of corrosion damage (B, C, D, E all check out continuity)  Please login or register to see this link.
      - I removed factory thermal compound and replaced with ArcticSilver5

Cheers guys, I want to fix this thing!
