Personally, IMHO, the true identifier of a 1.0 vs. a 1.1 is that the 1.0 has a daughter board for the controller ports. That was the only version that had that.

I use the Startech's and they are on sale in the US Amazon store now for $17.18 but I think I didn't pay much more when I bought one a while ago even though Amazon lists it for $24.99.
