Hi Guys;

I have been out of the scene for a couple years now. I recently helped a mate softmodding his system which i followed MrMario Cerbios BFM tutorial.

But now i will like to hard mod the system with the latest \ stable version of cerbios.

1) Where is the download link for the latest version of cerbios

2) whats the safest way to flash the bios, I already have tsop points preped and system is connected via ethenet. Please note i dont have access to a working DVD Drive

I think most people probably use Xblast OS v0.56 or v0.60 to flash their TSOP.

Is your system already modded?

If you already have a hardmodded system then you can just flash the latest Cerbios with XBlast as suggested above.

If you have a softmodded system and are looking to upgrade to a hardmod via a TSOP flash then the same applies. Use XBlast to flash the TSOP but then you must remove the softmod straight after to avoid any issues (hardmod and softmod on the same system dont always play nicely together). You can use Rocky5's softmod extras disc to remove the softmod. As you don't have a dvd drive available then you will need to FTP the extras iso and its attach.xbe to the consoles hard drive and then run the xbe via a file manager. You will then be able to remove the softmod.

However if you system isn't modded at all yet then you just need to use a compatible USB stick with an XBOX to USB adapter and the Endgame exploit TSOP flasher.

You can get the Endgame exploit here already setup to load Xblast.

EDIT- use the package attached in my next post!

Copy the files to your Xbox formatted USB stick and run the exploit and then once Xblast loads you can FTP the latest Cerbios across to the console and flash it to your TSOP.

Hi

I have already softmodded using endgame method. I now want to hardmodded it TSOP, and change the hard drive. I looked around and can't seem to find the file. Can you be more specific of what bios I will need for the 1.1, the renaming process and the location I need to put it in

Ok so, this is how I would go about doing it. I would run Rocky5's Extras disc and remove the softmod first. This will make things simpler after flashing the TSOP.

Use this Endgame package instead of the one linked earlier as this will flash cerbios AND install a dashboard (unleashX) for you so your console will boot into a hacked dashboard after flashing aand rebooting.

ENDGAME Cerbios Flasher & Dash Installer.rar

This package contains an older version of Cerbios, but once you are flashed you can run Xblast and flash again with the latest Cerbios version. If you do this also copy across the latest cerbios.ini to the root of C.

I've got a hardmodded/chipped console with an Aladdin Live chip or something.

I just boot into the modded dashboard and run Xblast? Is it as simple as that?

Or does hardmodded mean something else in this context?

Thanks again!

1. See RMM's reply for link. You can also download Cerbios (and a lot of other tools/files) from Xbins using Pandora.

2. Use XBlastOS. You can download it here: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8208 (or on Xbins)

Load XblastOS on your Xbox then from the menu on-screen go to Settings > Flash menu. From there choose "net flash" if you want to upload your BIOS (Cerbios) from your PC OR choose HDD flash if your BIOS is already on your Xbox's hard drive. If using Net Flash, you would choose that option on your Xbox then type your Xbox's IP address from a desktop web browser. A webpage will appear where you can upload your BIOS file. If using HDD flash, your BIOS must be on your Xbox's hard drive in C:\BIOS.

Hint: Cerbios can use a configuration file located at C:\cerbios.ini. Cerbios comes with an example configuration file. Edit this file and ensure it's set to boot into your preferred dashboard.

P.s. you should clean/remove softmod files after your system is successfully hardmodded with Cerbios. The easiest way to do this is to FTP to your console, delete everything from your C drive, then copy over a fresh copy of a C drive. Also copy over any cerbios related files (config, boot animations) to C if needed.

Hey guys;

@GoTeamScotch @nikeymikey

Thanks for your replies

I was able to flash cerbios on the system no problems I ftp the bios to c:\bios and ran Xblast to flash. I now in another issue 😞

I have removed the original hard drive and formatted a 2tb using Modzilla youtube tutorial.

i confirmed the files have been copied on C:\ and D:\ using Hareno.com files provided. But when the console boots it freezes on the XBMC4gamers splash screen. I have booted into hexen and was able to browse the e drive and i am able to open Emustation and other apps no problems.

I have formatted the drive twice now using 128 and 256kb cluster and still no luck, i am using startech IDE adapter set to master.  I have also tried deleting XBMC4Gamers and the udata folder and copying the latest version. I have put back the OG drive and XBMC4Gamers boots fine.

I am all out of ideas.

PS I resolved the DVD drive issue.

Thanks for your replies,

You could try my files linked here

They were built from the clean C and E files and have everything setup to launch XBMC4Gamers using Dashloader at boot. More info in that thread.

Could be worth a try reformatting and copying across to see if it fixes your issue.

Hi

Thanks for all your help. I formatted the drive, and rebuild using your folders but still the same issue. When I freezes on the xbmc4gamers splash screen if I can't press any buttons, but if I press the eject button the console softreboots. Not sure what the problem is at this point, I am suspecting harddrive or IDE cable. The hardrive was tested with CrystalMark amd reporting healthy and the 80 wire ide cable is brand new. Also tried the generic ide to sata aswell as the startech one

Ok so the next thing to do is to try another HDD if possible and see if the same thing happens then. That would rule out the HDD as being the problem.

Hi; I have changed the hard drive to a smaller SSD and also changed the IDE cable still the same. Console boots fine but gets stuck on XBMC4Gamers splash screen.

So you said if you put back the OG drive then Gamers boots fine and doesnt freeze?

Did you say you had already tried another Sata adapter? It could be that you have a faulty Startech?

Yes, the OG drive works fine

Yes, I have tried another startech drive and its all OK.

I placed the IDE cable, Sata Adapter, and Drive in another XBOX 1.4 and it works fine, i created a profile and set auto login enabled.

I tried reflashed the BIOS, running in safe mode but no luck.

I was able to boot into boot dvd and browse a few games and load them from the hard drive. Is there an alternative of XBMC4Gamers? this Xbox is for my mate and sorta running out of time of continue diagnosis so if you have an alternative method or launcher

Maybe try an old version of 4Gamers? See if the Rocky's github Repo has it, I'd upload it for you but I only have a gigabyte of internet a day to use. Or you can use Emulation or just plain old UnleashX.

Yes, that worked I found an old folder from 2022 that had e and c folder. I formatted the hard drive and it seemed to work. I have attached the folder if anyone else has a similar issue. I then tried to update XBMC4Gamers and it did not past the splash screen

My C and E.zip

@Rocky5 FYI

Thanks for everyone's help hopefully thats the last issue I have.

So you are saying it only freezes if you have the latest XBMC4Gamers installed?

You need to get the log files form the XBMC4Gamers folder and let Rocky have them in that case. They may show him what is going wrong.

Although I have the latest Gamers running on 3 different console now and do not have the issue myself.

Could possibly be a cache issue.  If you have access to the original msdash you could boot it and clear the cache or use FTP and delete the files in the cache drive letters.  I seem to recall I had a similar issue before and this fixed it although I could be mistaken.

Cache wouldn't be an issue on a freshly formatted hdd...

Yes that is correct, when I use the c and e from the package I uploaded I dont have any issues. I loaded up a game from a file manager nfs underground and had a few races no problem.

Do u know where the log is stored so I can send it to rocky?

It should be in the XBMC4Gamers system folder I think.... You will need to run the XBMC4gamers that freezes and then grab the log file via FTP thru another dash or by connecting the hdd to FatXplorer and grabbing it on your pc.
