eeksdee
The 2 chips you have already support LCD and normal modchip function as they're likely real. @eustachy1973 Edited June 17, 2019 by eeksdee

eeksdee
Interesting they'd bother to run the traces out to the LCD pads, it does seem to be the same CPLD as the newer $2 Chinese. Edited June 17, 2019 by eeksdee
KaosEngineer
Yeah, the same pinout for the two CPLD chips, LC4032V and LC4064V, but there's not enough macrocells, 32 vs 64, to include the operation of the LCD in the modchip with an LC4032V chip installed. One PCB to make for both non-LCD and LCD supporting version of the modchip. Either install the LC4032V or LC4064V. Different logic programming present for the particular chip's use. You'll see that the latest clones have the pads present for the LCD but no traces running to the CPLD.

xbov
Hi I am following the guide, got the same clode blaster and aladdin chip. I get the "TD0 seems to be stuck at 0" error and the chip led is not illuminated. I connected all the JTAG connection from chip to programmer except the 3.3v. I connected that from the chip to xbox for 3.3v. used this pinout: https://www.esp32.com/viewtopic.php?t=9901 Where am I going wrong? Thanks! All JTAG points go to JTAG programmer, in my case the 3.3v goes to the VccTRGT. Tehn you need to supply 3.3v and GND to the board via the plug on the chip, i got this from the xbox power supply. Programming worked perfectly. Now to hook it all up.
Laminatesnow
So, after going over the information in this topic, I wanted to ask a question... Goven that this modification allows LCD display, is there a certain interface that I need to use to allow LCD output? The only reason that i'm asking this question is because I bought these HD44870 LCDS, but they're I2C interfaced, instead of parallel interface https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GZ6GK7A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I already have 2 of these LCDs, and they're near-impossible to sell, so yeah. SS_Dave
Do you screens have a small PCB like this. If so you can remove it and it becomes a parallel connection. SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

I can't tell the difference (in looks) between the SPI version, I2c version, or parallel version. They all looked the same to me.

SS_Dave
That screen will work and to make it a bit easier to fit you can trim some off the bottom of the PCB and file about 1-2mm of the top. Trim along the line SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

I'm ust using these to create Cheap TSOP Xboxes with LCDs, for my siblings. I don't think that they mind the lack of controller ports.
