Hi all! Occasional lurker here, first time posting. I have a v1.1 console which was soft modded back in ~2010 by the previous owner. I haven't made any changes to it since, other than removing the clock cap. I'd like to update to Rocky5 softmod so that I can connect to Insignia. As documented on the Insignia pages, my old softmod blocks Xbox Live, so they recommend updating to a newer softmod and Rocky5 seems to be the way to go I'm planning on using the Upgrade Old Softmod feature from the Rocky5 Extras Disc, as per https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud-ulTjd9QY and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zdg9-ydqt8 Rather than burning a DVD, I've downloaded the Extras Disc .iso and Attacher from the Rocky5 prebuilds Google Drive, and have FTP'd it onto the console. In my XBMC dash, I can now see "Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc" in the programs list. When I launch it, I get the Xbox Softmodding Tool "INITIALISING" launch screen, followed by "Retail 4817 BIOS DETECTED / Loading Other Softmod Menu". However, after that the screen goes black and nothing else happens. The Xbox LED flashes green. Just wondering if anybody has seen this before or has any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good summer so far! So I saw an ad for this v1.6 Xbox in my local Kijiji listings for $10 CAD (roughly 90 cents US...j/k). It was mangled, like it fell off a desk while the lid was off and the power rail caps were visibly leaking. I figured, what the heck, it's probably those caps - I'll replace them and hey, one more 'Box saved. So I bought it, cleaned it up, reshaped the frame and replaced the caps. Figured it would boot up right? Nope, absolutely nothing happened. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what the problem is...everything on the motherboard looks good and all connections are tight. The only other visible issue is a swelling cap on the power supply (see pics). I tried testing it with a multimeter and it's out of range, but I also noticed there is continuity across the power supply. I can literally touch any two points on the power supply and get continuity. Is the power supply the issue? Is there anything else I might have missed? I have two working consoles (a 1.1 and 1.2), but I don't think I could use the power supply from the 1.2 to power a 1.6, right? (Of note, I have the DVD drive, hdd and the remaining mobo screws, they're just not in the pictures.) Thanks all.

Is UnleashX purposely restarting when attempting to add icons to the Xbox games list, or is there a potential issue with the software causing this behavior?

I was given Two OG XBOX PSUs but both have 2 missing components One PSU is Delta and belongs to OG Xbox 1.4 revision One PSU is Delta and belongs to OG Xbox 1.6 revision Fuse and varistor are missing in the PSUs, parts are not in the board, someone removed them. i think the owners connected them to 220v (here we have 220v , not 110v in the wall plug) and that caused the fuse to blow up, and varistor to blow up. Just like in the Wii power brick when connected to 220v So i spent some hours trying to figure out what the original components were for those PSUs, searching on forums and i was not able to find the complete info This is what i found online for each OG xbox model, in terms of original components it came with: OG Xbox 1.4 Power supply Varistor= Unknown? I was not able to find information online about this varistor. Fuse: 250v 3.15A (8.35x7.7mm) - OG Xbox 1.6 Power supply varistor: TVR 20241X Fuse : 250v 4A 20mm long - Maybe someone here on reddit knows more about these missing components so Here are my questions for OG Xbox 1.6 revision: The FUSE for OG xbox 1.6 revision, the PCB has printed "250v 4 Amps", and By looking at pictures on ebay i see they originally used a normal Glass Fuse 20mm long, but my question is: DOES IT NEED TO BE A FAST BLOW FUSE? OR SLOW BLOW FUSE? The VARISTOR for OG xbox 1.6 revision is TVR 20241X, but here that part is hard to find, can i use any of these as replacement? S20K150 or 20N241K or 20D241K ? (datasheets images are below) Here are my questions for OG Xbox 1.4 revision: The FUSE for the OG xbox 1.4 revision, the PCB has printed "250v 3.15 Amps", and by looking at pictures on ebay i see they originally used a circle encapsulated in plastic fuse, but again my question is: DOES IT NEED TO BE A FAST BLOW FUSE? OR SLOW BLOW FUSE? The VARISTOR for OG xbox 1.4 revision is UNKNOWN, I was not able to find online what type of varistor they used in that PSU, can i use the same varistor as in the 1.6 revision? here are images of the 1.4 fuse, along with what i was able to find available where i live for the 1.6 revision varistor, I hope someone can help me find the correct replacements

Thanks to SS_Dave I put the OEM dash file on the Xbox to try and boot to there from UnleashX. However when I try to run it I get Error 21. I think it got messed up by whoever soft modded the console before I bought it (it had been sitting in that shop for a few years), but even then I did a clean UnleashX install with Rocky5's tool. I'm pretty confused on what to do. Will I need to put in Halo 2 or something with XBL to update the OEM dash, and then reinstall UnleashX using the Splinter Cell exploit?

Hi There, I just happened to come across an Xbox with an xecuter 3 mod chip with LCD on a second hand website. Bought this and continues to work. So now it still has the standard hard drive in it. I wanted to replace this with a hard drive that is in my other hardmodded Xbox. (This is the well-known Origin 2TB disc) When I put this in, it does not boot any further and I end up on the X3 modschip screen. When I FTP to the original hard drive I find it strange that it uses the C D E. Furthermore, I think this is one of the first Xectuer 3 mod chips because it also contains a very old version of XBMC. Any idea what I will be able to do?

I just removed an Open Xenium modchip I installed a few years ago since I could never get it to work, removed the HDD I was trying to use, and put back in my original HDD that has UnleashX softmod on it so I can just play some games again. Problem is all my games and emulators just vanished. I don't think I am using the wrong HDD because I see my game save files that I remember. How could that stuff just vanish though? I feel like it might still be there but maybe I need to do something else? I boot into Unleash X fine and can navigate around so it seems like everything is working. This HDD was removed before I installed the modchip, the two have never been in contact with one another. Am I screwed? It's nothing I can't get back but it is work.

I'm trying to softmod an old OG Xbox by doing a hotswap (since the DVD drive can't read games) on the original 8GB WD harddrive. I'm using "Amazon's Choice" usb adapter for whatever that's worth. Inateck USB 3.0 to IDE/SATA External Hard Drive Reader Applicable to 2.5"/3.5" HDD/SSD, with 12V/2A Power Supply, SA03001 https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-External-Reader-Applicable-SA03001/dp/B08BNPXSJ9 I can't tell if a) this adapter isn't supported or b) I'm not getting lucky (timing wise) with the hotswap keeping the drive unlocked. Any help is appreciated! If I use USB View it shows the device as: Loc[124] DeviceConnected: USB Mass Storage Device Device Descriptor: bcdUSB: 0x0300 bDeviceClass: 0x00 bDeviceSubClass: 0x00 bDeviceProtocol: 0x00 bMaxPacketSize0: 0x09 (9) idVendor: 0x1F75 idProduct: 0x0611 bcdDevice: 0x0006 iManufacturer: 0x04 0x0409: " When I try to see the device in FATXPlorer I get the following log: =====FATXplorer v3.0.0.24789 64-bit (x64) Log File START===== Runtime: .NET 7.0.3 OS Fingerprint: 3047bb3539608b94e41b5d78e5d1bc137edd101800e5ae889a3164cec688de07 [3/11/2023 4:19:13 PM] [Startup] FATXplorer is starting... Hi I have been trying this for a few days and nothing. I used to have a softmod, but wish to install cerbios to my TSOP. I put in a new 3tb drive that i set up with fatxplorer. I installed the bootanimations folder to c drive, placed the cerbios.ini on the c drive also, and placed the bios in a folder named Bios on c. I loaded the hexen disc and bios checker they still work fine. I have an ST chip, and joined the connections fine, as I used to run the softmod and hexen still loads. If I use XblastOS (tried from hard drive and from some Xbox flash programs that run off disc) to flash, if I pick net flash I upload the bios and it does nothing on the xbox. I tried a 256k, 512 and 1mb version of cerbios. If i put the files on the drive and select HDD it finds the bios, I get a message about holding LT+RT+START+WHITE to start the process, is not easy but when it works it just goes back to the bios select screen. If I try gentoox from any loader disc, the program loads but then come up about invalid boot disc and shuts the xbox down. I have not found a gentoox to run from hdd yet. I have tried a few times now and nothing, was able to install some dashboards, but just having trouble flashing the tsop. I can not find an OpenXemium to buy that is not used or expensive, and all the aladin ones seem to be unflashable now. Anybody got any ideas of what I may be doing wriong, or suggest a dashboard I may be able to flash cerbios to the tsop, current cerbios is 2.0.2. Thanks for any assidtance you may be able to offer.

Forgot to post this here, i finally installed this thing last month. I’m very proud of this i’ve never really tackled anything this difficult. Best part is, it worked on the first try. I posted about this awhile back looking for advice, but i decided to jump right in and do it after being afraid to for so long. But wow this mod blew me away. Too bad i didn’t install this in my main xbox (Don’t worry about the long cables, i shortened them to the appropriate length after testing)

i almost lost everything in a house fire the fire happened two years ago and at that time i slimmed down my xboxs and only had two of them one just a softmod the other the xecuter 3 now let me tell you these xboxs were directly under my 55in flat screen tv and the tv melted all down on the xboxs now im here to tell you that Microsoft built a tank when they built these things because softmod survived i mean the case is junk both power and eject buttons were melted together i had to break the case apart and pull the power/eject pcb board out to turn it on now i have not cleaned the mother board or anything and it functions so i have hope i have not hooked up x3 to see whats up its the holy grail instead i have it pulled apart and trying to clean the mother board and mod chip and try to get it up and going again the switches are really bad one of the switches got so hot that some of the buttons fell off one switch came apart a spring came out but the switch might still work if you act like there is a spring there it will cycle but they are all melted in some way ie the switches now about the lcd screen i have it all pulled apart i might be able to salvage it it had some sort of tint on the out side of the glass witch is easy i just have to find out about what % tint it was but on the other side of the glass screen for illumination there is a white semi transparent film for even and soft illumination and now mine is is wavy like a pice of bacon and that will effect the screens back light illumination so if i can figure out the tint % and a good replacement for the backlight diffuser i think its what it is lol and to replace these switches https://imgbox.com/g/Pl9bJWtgsZ

Hello, History of the error I got a modded Xbox as a gift, but I know almost nothing about the Xbox. I think it has a hard mod. When I started the Xbox it said "Xecuter2" under the Xbox logo and then the menu opened where you could start/select/delete the installed games. But I didn't manage to install games via FTP. Therefore I tried to install the Rocky5 softmod with Splinter Cell. When the soft mod was installed, the Xbox restarted, but only a black screen was displayed and the LED around the eject button is solid orange-yellow. When I restart the Xbox, it also only shows a black screen and the LED is solid orange-yellow. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything about my problem on the internet. I am glad if you can help me. If more photos or a video helps, I'll post them. My questions Is it correct that the Xbox has a hardmod? What hardmod exactly does the Xbox have? What options do I have to get the Xbox working again?

Hi! I got an xbox 1.4 in Coma(black screen without sound),with modchip it works only with Cromwell, XBlast or iND-Bios(loading screen), but doesn’t recognize HDD... I’ve another two 1.4 scrap, one has dead GPU and another Fragged(stock / maybe trace corrosion)... Any repair suggestion? Thanks in advance!

My family absolutely adores our original xbox. It was modded back in the day with an Xecuter v2.6 chip with is connected to the debug pins, and a few other misc spots. I didn't get to the clock chip in time, and corrosion ate through the tiny edge traces under the board. I've tried repairing it, but it's beyond me... once it warms up, it goes crazy on/off eject/close... I have another 1.0 motherboard and figured I could use that as a replacement, then cross the HDD Key when I got there. So I followed the pinout of the original motherboard and replicated its connections, installed the new motherboard in the original's case and sure enough, Code 6... So I softmodded the new mobo with its original HDD with the Rocky setup and null'd the hard drive. I swapped the HDD back to my original and still no good... I've read that hard-modded xboxes are capable of working better with non-locking HDDs, so I'm hoping there's something I can do to get this new motherboard communicating with my original hard drive. I really would like to keep the content that we have on there. Is there any hope? Thanks in advance!

So about 12 years ago i bought a modded (x3) xbox from a guy on the neogeo forums. Worked fine for me for a couple years. Then one day it didn't. I bought it, used it, but did not build it. I had no idea what to do, was raising kids, etc So into the attic it went. A month ago my 20yo son pulled it out and asked if he could have it. Of course, but i didn't know why it wouldn't go into a dashboard anymore. And after a couple weeks, its found its wayback in front of me to provide some dad help. I've paid the upgrade fee here so i can spare myself the hours of searching the web for downloads for me to experiment with, but...i still don't see a download section anywhere. Logged out, logged back in, nothing. Is there even a dedicated section? Thanks

I'm trying to FTP a GBA romset to my Xbox but over half of the files wont transfer with Filezilla, I get the error message saying the file names are too long. Would I be able to burn the rom files to a DVD disc and transfer them to the console that way, or is there another solution outside of manually shortening 1000+ file names?

Got an open xenium board which I wanted to add LCD with when installing, already ordered daughter board for spi2par2019 and on its way through UPS. I recently acquired and old Xbox 1.1 with a a hard drive and disk drive both dead. It came with Aladdin XT2, so i switched the old hard drive to a new 80GB one and managed to install a new dashboard using an old computer disk drive i had laying around. Everything seemed to work fine and the console booted with Unleash X, but almost all games i tried installing on it's hard drive won't work. Dashboard tries to launch them, but the console simply resets to it's main dashboard. Not all games failed thought, 4x4 Evolution 2 and AMF Extreme Bowling started and worked fine without problems, but this is more of an exception than rule. It's weird, cause all emulators worked, and i was able to play Quake 1, 2 and 3 homebrew ports with no problems at all. Can someone please help me? Thank you!

It was a long time ago that I played this game (when I was around 7) so sorry if I can't recall the details or much of the information I'm about to give. Basically there's this 3rd person shooter for the OG Xbox that is very similar to Conker: live and reloaded or Fur Fighters but it's a bit more brighter and colorful. The characters were chibi-like and the gameplay was a team deathmatch and you could play in various maps; the couple I can remember were in a bathroom and the players were very small, another one was in like a circus but for this one I'm not very sure. Thanks for helping and I'm looking forward to the responses.

Hello all, I am new to xbox modding. I am just trying to learn more about the software side of modding this console. I have experience modding just about every other console and am now getting into the original xbox. I've installed an openxenium mod chip, and have ordered a 2TB hdd, ide to sata converter, and 80 wire ribbon cable. I'm just trying to get a feel for what the current methods people are using as a lot of information is outdated. Thanks for reading this.

hello all, been playing xbox since it came out and still think it is an awesome console. been a member of the fb group for a while but haven't gotten around to getting on here until now. I am selling my gaming collection and have a whole stack of games, controllers, and consoles that need to stop collecting dust in my house. I am getting ready to move and I am sure we all know how heavy the darn console is. Anyways, I will post a thread with all of what I got once I get validated and all that. Glad this forum exists!

Hey guys, happy new year! A few months ago I was given an original Crystal Xbox. As someone who has always been on the Sony side of consoles, I admit, I don't know much about Xbox. However I was told that the Xbox was running EvoX (Can be confirmed, when I turn the Xbox on, there is an EvoX icon on the left hand side of the boot screen) and that the Xbox had a modchip inside. The Xbox has been sitting under my bed for a while and I thought today I would dust it out and upgrade the internal HDD. The IDE hard drive inside the Xbox was only 80GB and I had a spare 250GB IDE hard drive I wasn't using. -- So I went ahead and followed this tutorial: Basically I downloaded Hexen 2018 > burned the image to a DVD > put the DVD inside my Xbox > replaced the old IDE HDD with the 250GB one > booted into Hexen 2018 > went into Disk Upgrades > From there I followed the process. After the files had copied over from the DVD, XBPartitioner 1.3 booted up and I made sure that I set the F drive to the full 250GB. From there the process was complete. I took the Hexen 2018 DVD out of my Xbox and the UnleashX dashboard popped up. BUT when I look at the drive details on the upper left corner. I can see that there is only around 120gb free on (F:). Whenever I try to boot XBPartitioner from the dashboard menu, I get the following error: "LBA48 info not found! Custom Partitions will not work with this BIOS! Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2." I done a bit of research and it LOOKS like I need to update my BIOS. But honestly as someone who has no clue what they're doing, this frightens the hell out of me. So that leads me to this post... I'm looking for some help which can preferably be explained in as simple detail as possible, I literally need someone to spoon feed me the steps. I would be so grateful and appreciate it! EXTRA INFORMATION - If I load into the EvolutionX dashboard I can see the follow details, which might be relevant. BIOS: EvoX M8 (1.6) Kernal: 1.00.5838.01 EvolutionX V+3935
