i have a 1.1v and i am having issues with faint wavy lines on the screen that i am trying to make perfect so it will be my main xbox.. also have some 1.0v's that are doing it but to a lesser degree. i really don't want to do a full board recap, especially don't want to have to replace those smds, so i want to find which specific caps that filter the video signal. i have already replaced several caps and messed up one of them that caused a dead short(has been repaired). so i really don't want to just do all the caps. plus, those 1.1v boards have a lot of them. i'd really like to just focus on the problem caps. and yes, i have given a visual inspection and replace the 5 in front of the processors with poly caps.

I'm kinda like...bored, so I wanna softmod my 1.6 XBOX. I have experience with the XBOX, as last year I attempted to repair my old one (which broke it further but I got very close!) However, this is coming from someone who doesn't care much about playing games off an HDD, or emulators. Maybe a FEW homebrew? I don't know. I DO however wanna get Insignia, but I can keep my XBOX stock and do that. I'm also concerned about replacing my HDD with a better one, as it seems tricky and requires me to get a lot of parts. And also the custom dashboards look kinda ugly except for the old XMBC and UIX (which seems hard to install) So with all this in mind, should I go for it, or should I keep my XBOX stock? (And I'm not gonna hard mod it cause I know very well what happened last time I picked up a solder iron.)

I paid a lot of money for a sata drive, an adapter and a 80 pin wire and it didn't work. I was thinking about buying an IDE drive since they are much cheaper in my area. Can I install it on my modchipped xbox without the use of a 3rd party ribbon cable or adapter?

My Xbox is running a 160 GB IDE from 2007 or something. I needed to ask this about 3 years ago, I used Crunchbite's (on Homebrew Discord) 8 GB Etcher image to prepare the new drive then iirc I used the XBox Formatter to make the partitions (which automatically set the cluster size to 16 KB) then I copied all the C:\ drive content from the original 8 GB HDD via FatXPlorer and also transferred some games and homebrew. And at that time when I was using the stock HDD my Xbox was giving me constant 10-11 mb/s on my diy crossover cable connection to my laptop. After I put that new HDD in I didn't notice that right away but the max transfer speeds I get are around 3-7 mb/s on the same crossover ethernet cable. Is it related to the cluster size or is the HDD just bad or on it last legs?

So I kind of wanted to know what there all is that exists for the OG Xbox. Seeing that there are prototype games, classics, Homebrew, chihiro arcade stuff etc. I wanted to know if there is a wiki or a site that lists pretty much everything there is for OG Xbox from games to apps to anything that can run on it. Doesn't have to point out where that specific thing exists but should atleast have basic info for it. Thing is I want to try some of this stuff out but I don't even know if there's more to them.

After I got a bit annoyed that some saved games no longer work because of the HDD key (XsavSig doesn't work either), I got the eeprom out of my old xbox and created a small program using Arduino to read the eeprom data. The HDD key is encrypted with the RC4 algorithm. I assume that you have to decrypt it first in order to be able to use it in config magic? As far as I know, the RC4 key is stored somewhere else in the Xbox, does anyone know where? Is the key unique for every xbox?

Is it possible to save this xbox? It's 1.0, fully recapped, and recently every now and then this Xbox goes into that overheating mode, with the orange light, and no image, and stays like that until it turns off. The panel buttons do nothing during this. But it's not overheating, because on all dashboards, it stays between 44C and 50C (I'm using the Nemesis Dual Fan Kit). I imagine it's the Adm1032 Temperature Ic Fail... I've already tried cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol to see if it solves it, but nothing. Is there a BIOS that ignores this sensor, or something in software? Or anything else I can do?

I am really glad I found this forum website. Last year when I started modding most of the content I found online was so outdated. Somehow I missed this website. Are unopened and unmodded XBOXs becoming more and more rare? Well, I suppose I know the obvious answer to that question - yes. My real question is to the professional collectors. What is your opinion on breaking of the stickers on and opening up suspected rare XBOXs? Do you do it when you get one to inspect for dust and corrosion or is it more important to a collector to keep the stickers intact? Aside from obviously rare limited edition XBOXs what version(s) 1.0-1.6b are the most rare? One would think 1.0 XBOXs are the most valued and desirable. Are 1.0 XBOXs desirable to collectors? Are certain versions 1.0-1.6b becoming more desirable or rare than others?

Is there any reliable adapters out there that work with the Xbox? I'd like to see if I could use one of my original playstation controllers for the playstation emulator in xbmc emustation.

I mean, played FIFA and it's like... ultra-complex campaign mode... very limited number of national teams (lots of useless clubs)... NO EDITOR (really? that's the funniest part, to build your own team!)... complex commands (some sort of mix between PES and older FIFA titles... switching player makes my mind stun...)... isn't there something really simple like older ISS games or even Virtua Striker series? Asking here instead of usual "top 10 soccer games" pages because those pages only talk about PES and FIFA. Of course, I'm not looking for excellent games... even "decent" are ok to me.

Hey guys! My friend was looking into getting a pre modded (Whether it be hard or soft modded) xbox to play with me and a group of others! I was wondering, Is there any place in particular that's best to buy these from? Is there a forum section here for buying, or a website that's very good for buying these kinds of xboxs? naturally my first thought is ebay, but I wanted to know what some of you guys think! ^^ Edit: Just realized, sorry if this is the wrong section, meant to do it in general discussion, not the collection showcase ^^;

Hello all. First post here as I just got into modding xbox's. Picked up two og xbox's, one is a 1.6 and the other a 1.0. I did a full recap on the 1.6 board and power supply and replaced the dvd drive belt. Also installed a 500gb hard drive, installed a new dashboard and lastly installed MakeMHZ's HDMI board with OpenXenium mod chip. And to my surprise every worked perfect with little to no issues. However, this 1.0 has some problems. System wouldn't boot at all at, also tried booting from a dvd using hexen with no luck. So I installed a OpenXenium mod chip and it booted right up to the Xenium OS. So I figured I was good to go, I installed a the IND 5003.67 BIOS since it would be compatible with the 128mb ram upgrade for the console. So this is where I may have messed up, I just installed all 4 ram chips at the same time instead of testing after each one. Now systems turns on and off.. on and off again then on and stays on with a green ring but no picture. However if I press the eject once it stays on it launches into either Xenium OS or the IND BIOS.. Not sure how that makes sense, seems to be random. I would think if the ram was installed wrong or shorted I wouldn't even get this far?? I was even able to ftp over Capcom vs SNK 2 and it played fine.. I'm thinking maybe something's up with the stock BIOS? I bridged the pins on the board to do a tsop thinking that might solve my problem but I don't think I have anyway to flash to the stock chip since I can only boot from a modchip.. Sorry for the long read, I'm just lost at this point. Hoping someone has some suggestions or can make sense of any of this. Also I attached a link for pics of my ram install, maybe I'm missing something? Thanks guys Justin https://imgur.com/a/Q2F8Cqh

I saw on reddit that they recommended a Taiyo yuden or Nichicon 1F 2.5V, but it seems these are now out of production.

Hey y’all, so I want to make a game on the original Xbox but here’s the problem, Idk what to do for programing Original Xbox code so can you help me please!

Hi i have a Xbox 1.0 with a corrupt bios and i discovered that the TSOP mod wasn’t done before i flashed it and ended up corrupting the bios. I tried the 3 wire trick and that didn’t work and can’t seem to find any bios reflash settings on the Open Xenium mod chip. So that really only leaves me with flashing a new chip and soldering it in. Is that the only option i have?

I am disappointed with the fan mods for the Original Xbox. I tried a 60mm Noctua Fan and then an 80MM Noctua, but no matter what i do. I cannot increase the speed of the fan. The fan just stays at the same speed settings even during gameplay. And was wondering if i can increase the speed of the Noctua since they are better,quieter fans capable of pushing out more air. I tried increasing the speed through the settings and through the config settings. But it still doesn’t make a difference. My Xbox has an Open Xenium modchip with Unleash X. Did i miss something? Do i need a special adapter?

Do I understand correctly that the processor in og xbox is the same as the BGA part of the slot 1 cpu? If so, using a soldering station, we can, for example, change cpu to a full P3-733mhz 256kb. On a pc, replacing the cache from 128kb to 256 gives an increase in games of 15-30% (if we compare celeron 800/128/100 and p3 800/256/100). Such upgrade does not create speed problems in games. Am i wrong?

this happened when I just open the disc tray from the Xbox to remove the disc to provide sound for the Xbox. I did this because it was taking too long to load up again. Here's the vid: (Start at 21:00 to save time)

I grabbed a Kernel file from this page and I flashed it with XBlastOS. Does the kernel have to match the original kernel? What is the kernel relative to the BIOS? Normally kernel and BIOS are two very different components of a computer. I shouldn't have been able to flash the TSOP with the kernel correct? How are those kernels meant to be used? I was looking for the default BIOS. Thanks
