Hello guys, I just updated the fan of my Xbox and want to set now the default value of the fan to 100%. Unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine to edit the evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin. If someone can tell me how to edit it on a Mac I'm also can also change it myself. Thanks for your help. Regards Nikolaj

This should be my last post on electricity, I know I have posted a lot over the last few days and gotten some great answers, but great answers can also push you towards something new to learn about. Anyways here goes. 1. Lots of homes where I live have an RCD/ safety switch which can detect imbalances between the neutral and live connections. If there is an imbalance (such as when current is going to ground) it will trip the power. In regards to the xbox, it does not have a ground prong on its power cable, so how can an RCD trip the power in the event of a electrical fault (such as water, corrosion and other damage)? And If the TV the xbox is connected too and other devices connected to the TV don't have have ground prongs either and are all connected to the same powerstrip, how does and RCD protect them? 2. I opened up two of my consoles that were water damaged a few years ago. I checked for corrosion. Didn't see much. A little on the underside of the psu (which I don't think I can clean off) and possibly small amounts on the main board. Although there is a risk that I may miss some of it as there is a lot to examine and it may be hidden under things. My main question with this is how bad is corrosion? I know it creates shorts and I do not particular care if these particular two xboxs fail but I do care about how it may effect other consoles connected to the same powerstrip and tv. My tv does not have a ground prong and neither do the consoles. If somone could fill me in on the outcomes of corrosion and if my other consoles are protected by something? like a RCD? Hello, In your XBOX menu: Parameter/System/Storage Devices Selecting your USB hard drive is selecting "set as capture location". A "GameDVR" folder has been created to move your "iso" into this folder, the loads will be faster. ps: I live in France, the menus will be different in other countries. Best regards

When i plug in my xbox, it starts the boot up for 4-6 seconds with the green ring flashing, then the video and audio cut off and the ring stops flashing but it keeps running for about 2 seconds, then restarts. sometimes if i leave the power out for a while and plug it back in, it works. any help?

I fixed my water damaged xbox today with a lot of help and pointers from some of the guys here. Basically my xbox was water damaged a few years ago, after a long time drying out I turned it on and it would only stay on for about 20 minutes before shutting itself off. I never really planned on fixing it as I have many replacements but today I noticed that the fan was dead and I replaced it, now it seems to be working fine. What led me to do this was another issue, I had forgotten about the damage earlier this week and booted the console up to grab some files, anyway the console shut itself down a few times while I was going about some other things around the house. I don't know much about electricity, basically just hot, neutral and ground, that's about it. So I was thinking about how I had this damaged xbox plugged into a power strip with several other consoles and whether this damaged xbox could damage other consoles sharing its powerstrip if used. Now I have been told by the higher ups here that it is not a problem, but I would like to know why. Basically how does a (specifically 1.6) xbox deal with electrical problems, whether it is a short, water damage, any electrical issues. What prevents it from damaging other consoles that share a power strip or power plug? I know the xbox does not have a grounding prong so what prevents any excess charge traveling to other systems? My xbox had a dead fan which I would assume shorted out from water damage, how does that factor? (specifically a 1.6 xbox) Many thanks guys for all your help and I hope I am not being a pain.

Hello all, unfortunately I damaged part of the mainboard next to the resistor R7T3 while rebuilding the LPC port on my Xbox 1.6(see picture attached). Anyone has a idea how to fix this? I tried already to solder a wire to connect the two broken wires. Unfortunately it’s too small for me to fix it. Thanks for your help.

Hi all! I lost my original modded XBox in a divorce. By then, I had a 360 and PS3, so I just dealt with it. Nostalgia has a hold on me and miss a lot of the games that I enjoyed so much in those early days. I have a Xenium Ice and have a very nice used Xbox to mod. Looking forward to meeting like-minded people. I'm sure I'll have questions as it's been a long time.

Hello everyone! I've recently softmodded my PAL Xbox using Rocky5's softmodding tool and I've set it up on my Samsung TV via HDMI using the Bitfunx adapter (I've enabled NTSC video mode and 480p and 720p resolutions). I know it's a crappy adapter but I'm 1600+ on the Chimeric Systems waiting list, so for the price I thought it was okay. And to be fair once my eyes got accustomed to the dark picture of the Bitfunx I thought I could get used to it... That is when it works. The problem is the purple/green hue sometimes changes randomly whenever I boot the system, launch a different dashboard (I'm using xbmc4gamers and emustation and unleash for FTP) or return to the dashboard after exiting a game. The hue can range from very dark purple, to lighter purple or light green, specially noticeable on black and gray things in the dashboard (I haven't noticed that problem when running games yet, but I should probably test it further) I've tried with different HDMI cables, cheap and a bit more expensive, new and used and they all give me the same problem. I'm not entirely sure that the problem is the adapter, because sometimes what triggers the problem is just restarting the dashboard. It could also be the system itself, but I couldn't find anyone who's had the same experience on the Internet. I'm wondering if someone has had a similar experience, because if I find out the adapter is not the problem I will not upgrade to the Chimeric Systems to still have the same annoying problem, obviously.

Bought this console several years ago and it's just been sitting in the dark, unloved. It's in great shape, there's a small black scratch/scuff just above the jewel. (pictured on FB) I think it's more a scuff than anything and should come off. This console has never been opened and never modded. I put the softmod files on the HDD if the buyer is interested but didn't install it. It still holds the date/time for over an hour so caps are still functional, that's all I know. Disk drive works well, video will be shared on FB of it working. We can start with $500 shipped in USA - PayPal or Venmo Goods and Services. I will be happy to ship international at cost. Hi everyone - I just successfully finished my XBOX HDMI+ install with open xenium. Does anyone know a solve to this? Is it possible for me to patch my new bios with LBA48 v3 to restore this function?

Does anyone know why my xbox is reading the cpu temp at 1077 degrees celcius when obviously that isnt the temperature of it? i have successfully recapped the motherboard and installed a makemhz xboxhdmi kit, as well as tsop flashed the console with the evox bios patched with the makemhz hdmi ips file. not sure if any of that would effect the reading the xbox gets.

My 2005 XBox has an SDG-605F in it and it isn't reading discs. I cleaned the laser first. No go. Then, I adjusted the pot from 1247 down to around 560 in increments of about 100-150 at a time, and I've now given up. Is it possible that I just missed the point at which it will work? (That is, maybe I went to 720 from 850 but it would have worked at 785?) Any other ideas besides a wholesale swap-out? Thanks.

Aplogies for the noobness here My xbox will not load unleashx on the new hd often. it either takes along time to load or fails. it does not load evox in corner also. Xbox ntsc-j 1.0 2 tb WD Green aladian xt2 hard mod instal issues. - doesn not load evox in conrer anymore after bios flash - boot looping, freezing, not loading into unleash, going into red green flash after 3 boot attempts. -if loads, often after a reboot will decide to 'take a break' boot loop into flashing lights, black screen. -no EVOX logo with or without hd anymore ( this makes me think its a bios issue) -loading hexen to install xmbc or try reflash bios is always unsuccessful. -can load ogxbox just unsure what to instal. Previous notes , install and before issues: -Removed capacitor, installed chip, directed d0 to wrong point (plese see pic) still successfully launched EVOX. -would not load hexen or new hd. redirected the d0 to proper point then had boot problems. starting logo would freeze. -Reflowed aladdin pin headers. -changed wiring back (picture - d0 point to ledhd - i did not clearly understand pdf install guide) hexen loaded. -freezed once. flashed bios 480p an d couldnt get logo screen. reverted back. could load new hdd. -installed ntsc package and got error on 'nodvd' (forgot this part kind of), still loaded into partioner. -partioned hd using 947-1 method (2tbhd) rebooted but froze. -reloaded hexen, reinstalled ntsc p[ackage succefully with no errors. -reformated drives again with 946 +1 method. -rebooted and got power boot loops and no evox logo. -also got the issue LBA48 bios issues when checking reformat drives. however drives are formatted. Thought it maybe hd issues or power issue or ide/sata issues but havetested with nad without hd and get same result. unless i leave the xbox to rest it wont reboot. I can get into a succeful unleshx dash with hd partioned. it just doesnt run smooth or seem right. Plesea see pics. Ive burnt ogxbox disc to try and instal bios but unsure which one honestly. but this randomly loads . I have a feeling ive done something to the modchip. iread that the bios on hexen for the chip was junk but have no idea how to instal a new bios now. Hello everyone, I love buying broken electronics and fix them as a hobby, last week i came across 3 xbox consoles ( V1.0 , V1.3 & V1.6 ) . I've never owned an xbox so i'm currently taking my time in learning as much as possible as i go through the repair/restorations, any comments or critiques are very much welcome. Just a FYI below are the status of each model i got, 1. Xbox Version 1.0 : Alot of Clock capacitor leak and very bad corrosion (i'll put a picture of the damage) the xbox was cleaned with contact cleaner and some vinegar as well and used a soft tooth brush, but the are above the clock capacitor is very well much gone and will need to be wired manually , also i can see two resistors non existent (picture incoming later) ; as a result this unit does not even power on at all , my guess is the power or eject button traces going up to the PIC microcontroller are broken i'll check it. 2. Xbox Version 1.3: This one is a USA model (110V) but where i live Mains is 220V so the power supply needs to be replaced with another PAL equivalent ( I'll post pictures later). Clock capcaitor leaked but the damage was not that bad like the V1.0 , all cleaned up . also the 3300uF caps were bulged so i replaced them. ( SIde note : This one is working with a transformer 220V-->110V but obviously I prefer to make it less clunky . I would really appreciate if someone would kindly lead me in the right direction as where can i find 220V power supplies for this model, much appreciated. 3. Xbox Version 1.6: This one had no screws whatsoever , the HDD in it is 80GB i doubt this is stock. The Xbox starts up but gives an error 06 which i believe means the HDD is not married correctly with the xbox so i ordered an aladdin XT to fix this problem ( I think that is the way to go ). Note : All the above CPU and GPU were repasted with a fresh new thermal paste. Please let me know if there are missing information, I'll update this post if needed. BR

So I've finally decided to pull out my old 1.6 Xbox which I got from a friend who modded it again. It doesn't boot up properly anymore. No video output and it boots up and shuts back down 3 times before it turn to a red/green flashing icon. Disk tray works normally, I can hear the HDD spin up, but I haven't been able to test it yet. I'm at a loss what to do. Here is a picture of the mod chip:

My setup: -Xbox 1.6 -Aladin modchip -500gb sata hdd -adapter sata ide pretty new and funcitonal -truHexen2021 boot disc, booting just fine After i've managed to install everything with the boot disc, the console hangs in evox logo. If boot with the disc, it loads ok. Steps: -Boot disc, prompt "new hdd", formated -Hdd tools, formated again with xbpartitioner 1.3, leaving only f partition 430gb~ -Created only F partition, not g. -Install dashboard: xbmc4gamers: prompt: use as main one? Answer: Yes (on f partition) -Clear cache, check if f is created on file manager, apps folder ok, xbmc4gamers ok. -Took off the disc -Boot xbox -Evox logo hang screen. microsoft text below the screen Did I miss something? For some reason while trying to flash a new bios to my TSOP I got a message saying 'programming failed', and now I get no picture when my console boots and the LED flashed red and green. So i'm thinking it's bricked. I was wondering if I installed a mod chip would this then save the console? I've seen an 'Aladdin XT+4032 X2 Plus' on eBay and the installation seems very simple for these chips.

Hello Everyone. I am kind of new/kind of old to the scene, as I have an rev 1.6 Xbox that I bought brand new in 2006, softmodded and installed a 160gb harddrive, which is(was?) limited to 137Gb useable space, copied all my bought games to it, threw in a couple emulators, and then just used it on and off and basically forgot anything involved in the process to the mists of time. Recently it wouldn't power on, so I replaced the common 5 3300uF caps that were leaking, and it was good to go. My brain noted that the 16 year old IDE hard drive will not run forever, and I should look at upgrading to a SATA configuration. Due to the time gap, very old versions of software, I have now read so much conflicting information at this point am not sure what to do in 2021. I no longer have the original drive. I don't appear to have an image of either drive (8gb or 160gb) in any of my backups either. My fuzzy memory says this is bad because of linked keys. I do not have a PATA usb adaptor, or computer with PATA. I have an Xbox to USB adaptor, but I don't think I have a compatible thumb drive. Based on my research I've ordered the "correct" Startech SATA/PATA adaptor. The existing drive already has an 80 pin cable. I do have ftp access without issue. I'm attaching a 2 screenshots of my drive/system info, my questions are: Is that key in the screenshot all I need? If not what is the best way to go about backing up the drive/board key "Just in case" things go bad. And is Chimp (https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/wiki/chimp/) still the best way to clone it to a new drive in 2021? I undoubtedly will have more questions, but backing up is my first priority, and once I have a confirmed backup I will be much more comfortable playing with it, and hopefully updating the various software I have loaded. Any "critical hints" or gotchas would be appreciated as well. v

hey, im a bit of a newb when it comes to og xbox, but i just bought one for the first time off of ebay. it works great, but i know its a big deal to remove the clock capacitor. it looks like it may have been opened before but i dont have a torx screwdriver to open it up to check. im going to my uncle's on saturday so he can open it up and see. is it fine if i play it with the possibility the clock cap hasnt been removed? it works great in every other regard.

I have this 1.4 Xbox that I've been tinkering with trying to being it back to life. I have plenty of other MBs so this has been more of a journey project more than the need to have a working board. The board initially would flash red. I took out the eeprom and it wouldn't read stable. I replaced it with a new chip and flashed it with a few different images finally settling on an image of another 1.4 that works. It now boots to a black image with a solid green light no fraging. So I ripped out the tsop and it also is awful, it has a few hundred unstable bits. So I decided to just install a modchip. Installed an openxenium and was able to boot into xeniumos! There was horrible diagonal lines that looked like interferance that would progressively get worse until there was major graphical glitches. I saw power issues could cause problems so I replaced the power caps below the CPU. Problem persisted. Replaced the powersupply, everything looks clean. Flashed M8+ onto the Modchip go to load it and the screen goes blank. Any ideas for things to try would be appreciated. Thank you
