About Me

  1. siting here running updates, with dave as my co-pilot, ive been thinking about permanent solutions, not just long term but something we can do once and never muck with it again, and yes im fully aware we can network out and get time untill something changes a site goes dead or we live with a wrong clock..... so the obvious one to me would be to run a set of wires off the clock cap pins out the back of the box and do an external battery backup mounted between the AV and the cat5, but..lets face it, how longs it going to last?, how long would it take to charge?..theres ALOT of variables and too much chance for a dead clock that needs reset me personaly i keep ALL of my vintage consoles on a switch box so that their bricks and power boards dont EVER see voltage unless they are in use, to preserve caps, boards and bricks, and heaven forbid..a power surge of some kind that manages to get past my ups, i figure setup like that my consoles should out live me..i hope, for the guys that dont unplug or kill power, you just replace the cap, or go with a small battery but its got me thinking about not only the xbox but any other unit with a clock cap that could be without power for weeks...months....lets face it we never know what life throws at us so what do we know, ..its a 2.5v cap...but what amps?..if we were to run 2 wires and add a port to the back of the box we should be able to add some manner of small wall wort brick and step down the amps/volts, heck you could use the same wall wort to keep clock voltage on multiple consoles depending on how they are displayed...im not just thinking the X but any/all systems anyway its an idea im tossing out there however dumb it may sound at the moment
  2. I have the big green monster cable microsoft but i'm searching for the missing cable of the optical output. ( Do not see light trought the connection of the optical, so it is broken ?) I am searching for the official microsoft component + optical ( to compare) if you have too, but they are easy to find on ebay.
  3. I finally got the parts for internal mounting of the OGx360, but i am not sure what to do with the reciever. Anyone got good ideas for where to put it internally, and in that case, how to get to the sync button easily? Is external mount best?
  4. Hello OGX Users, i am am an old Xbox Classic User. I am from Germany, i have a passion for Xbox gaming and Software modding. I play around with some Raspberrys and Betocera, Nintendo Switch and Retroarch. These days i found a Post with Rocky5`s Emustation and the Xbox Fever is back Hope to have good Days in this Forum.
  5. Hello everyone! I'm a new member from Norway who's looking to get back into the XBOX Community. Had to sell off my collection due to moving abroad, but have now moved back and realized my mistake. Currently buying a few xboxes, and looking to do some modding. Haven't soldered anything in years, but have watched a bunch of videos lately on xbox mods. If anyone has any recommendations on what Solder or Flux to use, I'd gladly take all the help I can get! Locally it seems as if I can only get lead free solder. I'm purchasing a Dibotech zd 8936 soldering station locally, and I'll be ordering some 30 AWG Solid core wire off eBay. I'm glad to be back, and looking forward to being a part of this forum!
  6. i had ordered a lpc rebuild board and it got here today. turns out the one i ordered is too small to fit a pin header in so i'd have to solder the chip directly to the board for this rebuild board to work. i don't want to order another one so i am strongly considering just using the wire method to rebuild the lpc. problem is that i really dislike the kind of fine soldering that i'd have to do if i use this method. any tips on how to do the wire method the easiest way?
  7. Howdy all! So first tech Q. As some of you may know I recently have got a XBOX sent to me from a friend so I have been purchasing the extras controllers, cables etc. Anyways I brought a bundle of controllers that came with a xbox FOC! Now it was listed as working which it is but the DVD drive wont read disc's and it rattles! The seller packaged i very poorly so I suspect it was damaged in transit. Now other than that and the leaking clock cap (which I have pulled off and cleaned up) it seems to be fine, and looks like it has a mod chip installed? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IB92couhg9q7x4Nfi5Hkt9lNWHT_ATwL/view?usp=sharing So what I am wondering is do I have any options with this thing? I know I could replace the drive but I was wondering if there was a way I could use my other TSOP'd box to sort of build a HDD for it and put it in this one or some other way of transfering stuff to the HDD? It seems to have a stock dashboard on it and I obv cant use a hexen disc. Any thoughts appreciated as it seems a shame to side line it for the sakes of a dvd drive. Cheers.
  8. Good morning. Is there any way to play this game? If yes, could you tell me all the steps to be taken to play with the emulators? Thank you
  9. if u could put a setting in a mod menu to increase the deadzone for the controllers then that would be awesome. alot of games seem to have super low deadzones and it causes drift unless the controller is brand new.
  10. Hi, i have space only for to put the og xbox vertical. Is it possible? the dvd drive will not be used. Or is that a problem?
  11. How would one go about this? Just simply drag and drop and replace the files? I bought an Xbox with XBMC4Gamers installed. It boots up to XBMC4gamers and is on the latest version. Thanks!
  12. Hey Guys, big fan of modchips that started back on the original Xbox days. A friend of mine did my system and been doing every console since. I actually bought 2 more original xboxes over a decade ago thinking i was going to do more with them. Not until now i decided to get to work on them again. First main issue is both of them are missing the HDDs. So I'm wondering would I be able to plug in an IDE (250gb) drive and boot to an older Hexen after I install the modchip to format it? Or can I even boot the system without a HDD to atleast see something? Didn't want to take any risks over it, already waiting 10 years.
  13. Noticed that my DVD drive is having a had hard time reading discs. I did clean the laser with 91% alcohol. Is there any way to calibrate the lasers power?
  14. i've had issue with filezilla so what's a better one?
  15. I bought a cheap sata to ide adaptor to do a 2tb install, after completion I was getting crazy long wait times for the xbox to even load it was such a disappointment . Buy cheap buy twice! I have a startech one now and it works fine completely night and day. This forum has helped me loads already thank you.
  16. i got a 3tb seagate barracuda 5400rpm drive for my xbox. after loading it with games it became pretty sluggish to load things. games ran great when they finally loaded, though. i wanted something quiet and i know the 7200rpm wd drives can be noisey. has anyone else tried both a 5400rpm and 7200rpm to see what the difference is with speed and noise?
  17. the seek time is a little longer than i'd like it to be. is there a way to defrag the hdd to speed up the seek time?
  18. i hard modded a 1.4. i have replaced the clock cap. i still have some stuff to finish up on it and i was wondering if there was any reason to replace the 3300uf and 1500uf caps on it? the xbox seems to work fine so, if i did change them, would there be any benefit?
  19. i chipped my xbox but i really don't like having the fan set to a static setting. i want the system to be able to change the speed of the fan as the temps of the cpu/gpu change. how do i do this?
  20. Found this beauty of a xbox site trough Google. was searching for updates on HeXEn, and found this site. I have 4 or 5 classic xboxes that I want to give a second chance. they are there for 2 years now, the crystal from day one it came out. I restore them clean them install chips, and then the dashboards and coins systems. Hope to learn a thing or 2 here!
  21. Hey guys, Reaching out as i was hoping you could help. A couple years back i bought another x3 modded xbox and it turned out the chip was faulty. Recently i have decided to revisit this and see if its possible to get this chip working. It is installed in a 1.6 version xbox. So far i have swapped the x3 from another 1.6 box and was able to transfer the fault between machines so i know its the modchip. I am getting the 3.3v and 5v lights on the chip, and the bank switcher lights and button functions are working. I cannot get onto the backup nand either. I have a feeling the previous owner corrupted the main nand as I am unable to flash any bios to the chip. xblastos detects the chip as an xecuter 3 but no other apps can see it. Just wondering what is left to do? is there a utility that defaults the nand or can recover from a suspected bad flash? Out of my depth here now, as i've owned numerous x3 boxes over the years but none have ever given me any hassle. Hope you guys can help. Cheers!
  22. can someone give me a link to the type of ide cable i need for the hdd upgrade? most of the pics for these items are very misleading so i'd like a link to a cable that someone in this group has used before.
  23. Hey Guys I'm looking to upgrade my HDD on my xbox to a 2TB. So I wanted to find out what my best option would be. I'm looking at buying Western Digital Blue 2TB (5400RPM) - Very good price Western Digital Purple 2TB (5400RPM) - Only a little more expensive than the Blue but has better reliability over longer periods as it is a surveillance drive, or Western Digital Black 2TB (7200RPM) - Much more expensive than the Blue, however I'm not sure my loading times will be worth the cost? Thanks in advance
  24. HI, I bought the Halo 2 jewel from Chimeric system and would like to know if I must use super glue or is there another way to fix it nicely? The top case is ready with original jewel removed, I used sand paper and added a bit of spray paint to cover any scratches. Thanks,
