About Me

  1. This guide and pictures taken from: http://www.biline.ca/xbox_solder.htm TSOP Flashing Unlock points if you are unsure which Xbox version you have click Here TSOP unlock points for version 1.0/1.1 Xbox This is the top of the motherboard Connect the two solder pads at R7D3 as in photo above. This is the bottom side of motherboard Connect the two solder pads at R7R3 as in photo above. All Ver 1.0/1.1 Xbox's with a 'SHARP' TSOP chip must also connect the additional red wire as in the photo above. All other TSOP's DO NOT require this step. TSOP Unlock points for all Versions 1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5/ Xbox's This is the top side of the motherboard These Xbox's have both points located on the top of the motherboard, for the first point connect the two solder pads at R7D10 as in photo above. For the second point locate the junction between R7D2 and R7D1 and connect the two solder pads as in the photo above. After the solder points are completed you should re-assemble your xbox (but leave the top cover off) when the power button is pressed it should boot normally as it did before you started. Note if you get the message TSOP write protected while attempting to Flash the TSOP you might need to check and resolder the points to ensure a good connection was m while attempting to Flash the TSOP you might need to check and resolder the points to ensure a good connection was made. To split Split a 1MB TSOP (v1.0, v1.1) into 4 banks of 256k, the following picture explains how to accomplish this: Note: If you have a 1.6/1.6b Xbox, it has no TSOP and therefore you cannot flash it. You will have to install a modchip or softmod.
  2. Are there any issues/conflicts I need to be aware of when tsoping my xbox? Ive been running a soft mod for a week or so and have a sata 500gb HDD locked with apps, games and of course a dash, XBMC4gamers. If so I can always put the original HDD in to tsop it that way but then am I good to go with putting the 500gb back and just straight booting? OR, do I need to reinstall everything? Any specific bios reccomendations? I will be using the drive as well as the HDD and on 1.4 I think. Certainly not 1.6
  3. Hello, I recently bought a used OG that was modified by its pervious owner. It appears to be a soft mod. The Xbox first boots into the stock MS dash, but with the "Xbox Live" tab replaced with "Phoenix" Selecting it boots into the UnleashX dash. I like this setup since I think the stock dash is cool, and has a better game saves system than any of the dash big replacements. However, when I first tested it out it was fragging, and the HDD (which was replaced at some point via chimp with a 128gb one) seems to be in poor shape based on the sounds it was making. I am considering on giving it a tsop flash for the sake of keeping it alive, but It would be cool if I could keep the dash replacement. Any info on this "Phoenix" softmod and its viability as a hardmod dash replacement would be great.
  4. As the title suggests, this is a collection of mods for the Xbox version of GTA: Vice City. The aim of this mod was to fix a couple of bugs, to make what I feel are improvements to the game's overall presentation, and to provide a fresh, new visual experience for the same Vice City you know and love, while still maintaining what made the atmopshere and feel of the 1980s American beach city setting so enjoyable. Retaining immersion was also important. If it couldn't have existed in 1986, you won't find it here. Performance was also a key focus. While the Xbox version of Vice City is capable of displaying larger textures just fine, the texture work here was (mostly with very few exceptions) kept at the same resolution with the same compression method as the original textures, because you will run into performance issues, namely regarding pop-in, textures failing to load properly, and frame rate hiccups if you do decide to go with larger textures. In my testing, this wasn't something immediately noticeable in the early stages of the game. It only really becomes an issue when you're driving back and forth between the two islands, particularly late game when you own a lot of properties. This modification performs just as well as the original release from beginning to end. It is recommended that you play this mod in WIDESCREEN with TRAILS OFF. New Roads: Original textures replaced with textures made from real images of Miami roads. This solves the issue of the blurry roads in the original release and generally looks better all around. Sidewalks replaced as well. New particle effects: Particle effects replaced with more realistic representations. GTA III's Liberty City holdover leaves that once scattered the ground have been replaced with palm leaves, much like they appear in the PS2 version. This one small change in particular has a surprisingly large effect on the atmosphere of the world. New Duds: New Miami Vice inspired suits for Tommy and Lance. Most outfits have been changed. From pallette swaps to complete replacements, the new outfits fit the game's world while simultaneously referencing various films, TV shows, and video games along the way. Each outfit functions in cutscenes as well. New timecycle: More colorful days and darker nights. Nights actually feel like night time now. Make the neon of Vice City shine brighter than ever against these blackened night skies, and enjoy beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Fits the beach weather perfectly and looks great with the Xbox version's unique lighting system. New foliage: Fuller and more colorful foliage textures make Vice City come alive. The Xbox version has always had inferior foliage to the PS2 version, this fixes that issue. Bug fixes: PS2 animations, including idle animations missing from the Xbox release, have been restored. Tommy now gives an "up yours" gesture with his arms instead of flipping a nonexistent finger (another GTA III holdover) when standing in front of traffic. A bug preventing the acquisition of the Havana outfit after completing certain missions has been fixed, it is always accessible after having been unlocked now. The brass knuckles have been resized to not look so outlandishly large. Aiming sites for weapons like assault and sniper rifles have been adjusted to display correctly in widescreen mode. This means they display incorrectly in 4:3 mode, however. New animations: A few improved animation replacements for Tommy. He runs with single handed and two handed weapons in a more believable way now. Walking, idles, sprinting, and just about everything else has been kept vanilla for the sake of familiar game feel. Tommy still sprints as fast as he always has - something that's typically changed for the worse with animation mods. Female character models no longer dislocate their hips as they walk. Peds overall have new animation. They all walk a little slower now than before, but their animations look less rubbery. New pedestrians: About 85% of peds replaced with their VCS counterparts. These pedestrians are higher quality than the ones found in the original release of Vice City. Better quality texture work, more colorful outfits, and more diverse models. New surprises: I've thrown in a number of retextured areas and objects throughout the game. From small world objects to interiors, there's a number of new things to see for returning veterans. New weapon: The Ruger has been replaced with an AK-47. New HUD: The radar ring has been replaced with a new, original ring. Icons on the main HUD, map icons, and weapon icons have been replaced with their 10th Anniversary counterparts. The pause screen map has been replaced with the 10th Anniversary map. New text: A few lines in the game's american.gxt file have been modified to reflect some of the changes this modification brings. Mostly in terms of outfit and weapon names. Download INSTALLATION: 1. Extract folders to any directory of your choosing 2. FTP all folders from the archive into your GTA: Vice City root folder on your Xbox, choose to overwrite files in the process. 3. IMPORTANT: Delete GTA_VC.CAP.Final file from your GTA: Vice City root folder if it exists 4. Clear your Xbox's cache and start the game 5. Have fun There shouldn't be any issues with running this mod on existing save files. Feel free to report any bugs you see. What I'd like to change in the future: Improve widescreen mode from the existing pan 'n scan implementation Fix the alpha render state for the target lock and sniper dot
  5. Hi all im a newbie to your forum and to og xbox homebrew. i recently purchased one of those 2tb modded og xbox from ebay that was already setup. im not a newbie to the homebrew scene just to og xbox i went to use the download tool in the xbmc i wanted to download some homebrew games like half life ect. every time i go to download something i get an error message asking me for a default xde file. im confused by this as i have searched all my directories and cant find anything. i have tried to google this issue and i cant find anything about it. the only results i get are for kodi?? i know its probably a really simple issue and a easy fix but im so new to the platform im not really sure where to start. as the xbox was not modded by me i do not know what files are on there or what is required to download software from the download utility. any help on this would be awesome. thank you all very much :)
  6. So i kind of excited to finally have it and want to ask if there is anything else i need to get this running. i have the little board for my xbox so in theory i should be good to go but i wanna make sure i ask those more experienced then me so i don't mess up.
  7. So i have a 1.6 or 1.6b xbox and i ordered a mod chip to try modding it. i see every time someone mods an xbox that have this board that they use with it. I don't have that board and want to ask if its possible to mod it without it.
  8. Hello all, I am new to xbox modding. I am just trying to learn more about the software side of modding this console. I have experience modding just about every other console and am now getting into the original xbox. I've installed an openxenium mod chip, and have ordered a 2TB hdd, ide to sata converter, and 80 wire ribbon cable. I'm just trying to get a feel for what the current methods people are using as a lot of information is outdated. Thanks for reading this.
  9. This HDMI mod replaces the AV port completely and offers an HDMI port instead for convenience. The Installed HDMI mod does look like this: The HDMI mod does offer 5.1 sound through the HDMI port. If you don't need 5.1 (or your TV might not support it) you can simply disable 5.1 audio and get digital stereo audio instead. For those who want to add an optical output to there Xbox the HDMI mod does offer 3 solder points to add a TOTX178 optical transmitter. To get the HDMI mod installed you first need to get the AV-port removed. To get it removed you could either use a hot-air station or a heat-gun to remove it at once. But that would put a lot of thermal stress on the board! The better and recommended alternative is to disassemble the Port and remove it one part at a time. First desolder the Metal Tab holding it in place by heating them and prying the metal tab up to pull it out. When the metal tab is removed take a sidecutter and clip off all the pins from the video port as they are what keeps the Port in place. When they are clipped off you can take the port cover off by simply pulling it upwards. Next step is to remove the remaining plastic piece and desolder the rest of the pins and clean up the area a little. Position the first Adapter exactly as show in the photo. The red arrow marks the PTH that has to be alligned centered. Once Positioned solder all the marked points down and make sure they are properly connected before continuing with the second adapter! After soldering all the necessary points insulate the 2 soler points shown in green. A piece of kapton tape works well. You should do this to be sure there's no unwanted connection occuring between the 2 adapter pcbs. Next up is the second adapter. Just position it above the first adapter using the 2 big holes to allign them and solder down the marked points. Again check continuity before continuing with the next PCB! Last PCB is the HDMI mod itself. You need to position it slightly off centered on the second PCB. The HDMI ports pins will be position it correctly. Just solder down the points that are marked with the red arrows and the install is almos done! Last up is setting the Video mode. You need to add 2 small bridges on the bottom side of the PCB. Just solder in the 2 bridges and the video mode is set correctly! If you want to use the optical out you can easily add a toslink port to the HDMI mod by simply soldering a Transmitter to the 3 marked pins.
  10. Looking for suggestions for Led lighting for a case mod. I would prefer not to solder anything. I would like to connect to an extra molex connector from recent hdd upgrade. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks
  11. After upgrading my xbox HDD, it not only boots and runs 10 times slower, but the DVD drive now doesn't read any disk I put into the disk drive even official xbox games. It just says unknown. Now I don't mind the system booting up slower, but not reading anything in the disk drive is a major problem. I followed this tutorial exactly (I used the exact parts and followed all steps)
  12. Here's a custom mod I did back in 2008 of an Xbox converted over to a Xbox 360 case. I was running UnleashX using an 360 skin. It's funny looking at my old photos and seeing what things I did. Lots of improvising. Notice the rear of the case? haha
  13. All, I just recently ressurected my old xbox, and upgraded it to a 2tb drive. I had to upgrade the bios on the chip in order to properly have the system see all the new space. I did so by using the hexen disc. So this worked, but now if i use the Xecutor bios, it takes a little over 10 seconds for it to get to the boot animation screen. If i use evox, its a little quicker, but not by that much. Anything i can do to increase the speed? On the old xecutor bios it was instantaneous. Thanks in advance!
  14. Got 10 Diy install sets for the internal HDMI mod for sale right now. Keep in mind you should be handy with a soldering iron. It's not a lot more complicated than a chip install but if you already have trouble with an xbox chip leave this mod alone for now. Price for each set is: 70€ +shipping costs. Drop me a PM if you want one! The install set does include the main HDMI mod and the install adapters for ONE motherboard revisions so you have to decide which revision mothebroard to use when ordering
  15. Hi, I have an OG Xbox with an unknow (to me) Mod, it was given to me maybe 10 years ago as it is now. The mod chip has a paper backing with no writing and the other side only has info re: the jumpers (pic), no identifiers that I could find. The boot screen shows XECUTER2 (pic) and the dashboard it goes to shows RemoteX v1.8.2812. It'll play backed up games and had one game loaded to the HDD listed in apps (not games), but due to E: being low on free space I deleted the data files for said game so it is up to over 4GB free now. I tried to upgrade the HDD with a 500GB SATA HDD using a PATA to SATA adapter (setting the jumper as needed) but the system would boot to a service error. I then tried a known good IDE drive which lead to the same error. Unless that is not a mod chip and this is soft modded? I have HeXEn 2018 on DVD, booted to that and tried to install Chimp to E so that I could clone the data to another drive. It installs but when I go to my dashboard I do not see chimp but the files are on E: Any ideas if this is soft modded or is that indeed a modchip? Suggestions on how to proceed in getting another HDD in the system? I don't need any of the data on there, would just like to be able to get the drive in and FTP over some games. Any other suggestions? Thanks for reading!
  16. Hello, I am new to the original Xbox community (Recently picked up a 1.0 and am working on getting it modded) and was wondering if there are any benefits of having a modchip over TSOP Flashing. I know that 1.6 rev. boards need a chip to be hard modded but I've also scene people install LCD's of the front of their chipped consoles, so I was curious as to what kind of info gets displayed on em, and if there are any other chip-exclusive functions.
  17. Just bought an Xbox V1.0 dirt cheap. It has a switch on the side, on the inside two wires are hooked up to the switch. One goes to ground and the other lead is hooked up somewhere on the underside of the motherboard. Starting to suspect the switch disables a TSOP ... is my assumption correct here?
  18. A couple of weeks ago I decided to do a removable LCD screen mod that plugs into the controller ports. I'm thinking of raffling this to help support the website. What are your thoughts?
  19. Hi, I’m new to anything to do with mod chips on the original Xbox so my apologies if I sound like a complete noobie. I recently purchased a Xbox of Facebook market place that has a DuoX2 (blue) mod chip installed. When the console boots is has like a green logo in the top left and Slayers 2.7 underneath the Xbox logo at the bottom of the screen (I’ll add a photo to explain what I’m talking about). Then it boots into evolutionX dashboard I believe. I’ve dabbled with soft modded Xboxes before and wanted to take a crack at a mod chipped one but I’m worried I’ll brick the console if I just try and re flash bios and install a new dashboard. So long story short, is it possible to update the bios on the mod chip to someone a little more recent like EvoX M8 or something? The Xbox is 1.4 console. I opened it and cleaned the console of dust and re did the thermal paste and fixed the DVD belt prior to wanting to update the dashboard and mod chips Bios. any help is much appreciated. Kind Regards, Karl
  20. I have an xbox slim without a dvd drive. The 40 GB hard drive starts up without a problem. Unfortunately 320 gb disk, frozen logo. I have formatted the disk several times and unfortunately the same continues. If the dvd drive is plugged in, the xbox will boot without problem. Any suggestions?
  21. Picked up a $5 Xbox off of local buy and sell site in Ontario Canada. Got the Xbox working notice it had a modchip got the modchip working it was a xenium chip.. when I was in the mod chip options I noticed that there was a bunch of skins five in total. I contacted a few of my friends who told me that these are very hard to come across some may even say rare. So now I upload to everyone in the forms here. Please download and enjoy these beautiful hard to find skins. And please share and pass these around. Use 7-Zip to unzip Thank u Frank
  22. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Also, if it's stupid I'm sorry, I don't really know anything about electronics yet. I'm thinking about the possibility to convert the memory units ports of the S controller to put in a lithium battery and something like a bluetooth transmitter. I'm totally noob, so actually I don't know if this would actually work, with a usb bluetooth receiver plugged in or wired to one of the controller ports. Since it is the original controller no drivers would be needed and it should work like it was plugged in with a cable. I was also thinking about using the same kind of transmitters that are used in keyboards or mouses. I made some research on the net but seems that nobody did or even tried doing something like this with an S controller. Is that because this mod won't actually work?
  23. Hi! I am new here, so i am not sure if this is the right section to post this in. I am wondering if anyone has a clue which mod this is: Thank you for your time!
  24. Well a little history behind this dvd drive, my first console was a 1.0 xbox with dvd drive fault(the one who distroy disk) bad power supply and caps disaster, so in the 2010 or 2012 that console decides die frying the nvidia chipset the mpcx3 or something but that was the last time turn on.... anyway the think is the first time that console fail my father take to a repair shop (change the dvd drive) so that dvd drive Has been with me since 2005, so today I disassemble that dvd drive coz It was getting stuck when open or closed the tray plus bad motor belt, so the interesting stuff I found is the dvd drive was hacked or modded with wires soldered inside to specific points I remember read something about that a lot time ago modding lg dvd drivers and flashing a custom firmware in the drive but I dunno if was true or just a random guy on internet, anyway here some pics about that mod also to make work that driver I need grab power from the hdd molex connector The yellow wires end in the dvd conector on the Xbox make work like a original one
  25. Just a theoretical pondering as I could not find any info on it. I know you can null a HDD key on a soft mod’d xbox so I was wondering if it was possible to null and lock a hdd using a tsopd xbox then transfer it into the soft mod’d xbox? Cheers
