  1. Hi guys, I've got tons of Xbox originals over last 2 years and i always see the same problem with Samsung drives - they are not reading at all. Tweaking pot doesn't help. Laser beam is there, it is not weak. Lens is not dirty, tried to clean all of them. My guess was maybe these are capacitors on the drive board? The issues is i can't desolder them without tearing of the pads. Stupid, i know but really they are so fragile there or whatever is he reason. Plus I'm not sure on some of them in terms of specs. So, what do you think? 1. Can it be capacitors? something else? 2. If it is probably capacitors, anyone has all the ratings? Thanks!
  2. Getting out of modding, I have 5 xboxes left each with 2tb drives. Message me for more info, us only.
  3. as the title says, i have a fuckton of xboxes i modded with 2tb drives that i wanna get rid of. for more info, dm me, thanks.
  4. It's possible to unlock and relock the Seagate HDD over the COM port. I wrote up some instructions and a python script to automate the process. Files and instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X9YJdMUA1vZKSTEyvfA2OhaHScy0f6wzLk0nE7q9vLw/edit?usp=sharing
  5. I've got 4 Xboxes I've softmodded for my family using Rocky's softmod tool, and I nulled the keys as well during that process (all zeros, but will soon upgrade to all ones to be compatible with Insignia - hopefully its an easy process to upgrade the softmod dashboard/tool). I currently have a larger drive in one of them that has the dashboard, emulators, and games set up just the way I want it. I want to put larger hard drives in the other three and have all four be the exact same setup. Rather than cloning the stock hard drive to a larger drive during the upgrade process and then spending the lengthy time FTPing over the hundreds of MB's of data with the data rate transmission limitations and drop outs inherent with FTP, since all the XBOX's have nulled keys I was planning on just taking the larger drive I've already set up and cloning it 3 times - and then putting those cloned drives into the other 3 xboxes. Much simpler and quicker. However, with Insignia needing the Serial Number, HDD Key, and Online Key for each Xbox would cloning a hard drive from one xbox and putting that newly created hard drive into another xbox change the way the serial number or online key is read in the "newly upgraded" Xbox and make it incompatible with Insignia? Or does it not matter as it will just pull the serial number and online key from the mobo and doing what I described above will still be compatible with Insignia? Thanks all!
  6. I own quite a few original xbox consoles and I am currently in the process of having them all modded. I want them to all have the same save files and be able to switch each hard drive to another console if needed. Using configmagic, I have a little problem with the unique hdd keys and current hdd unlock password. I can change the unique hdd keys so all my xboxs match but I can not change the current hdd unlock password (I hear its generated by a combination of things). I want to be able to mix and match hard drives. How do I get around this so that all the keys match on all my consoles? I know there is a program to null the keys but some of my gamesaves I believe are signed by the unique hard drive key so I would like the unique hdd to remain the same. Hopefully there is something I'm missing.
  7. I appreciated everyone helping in the other thread to be me where I am on my old Xbox! I have a question regarding swapping drives. Here is what I have: XBOX A Old xbox originally soft modded in the early 2000's. Has a 200 GB drive in it with all my games. I have re-softmodded it to the Rocky Softmod. I did not Null the hard drive when i did the Rocly soft mod (I may have done it when i originally modded this thing 15+ years ago). Xbox B Xbox I just bought. Has the factory hard drive in it. I have used the Rocky soft mod on this box and have nulled the hard drive. Can I swap the hard drive from Xbox A into Xbox B by just disconnecting and plugging it in? I want to do this because Xbox A has corrosion issues and just randomly turns off. Should I null the hard drive in Xbox A before doing this? Any help would be appreciated!
  8. I have placed a laptop sata DVD drive in one of my xboxes... The point is that it does work, as I can install a hdd with Aid, but game back-ups or originals do not start... Why is this and what can be done about it? It is a Sony optiarc Inc. AD-7560S. Help would be appreciated.
  9. I have 3-4 original xbox consoles - If I null the hard drives on all my xbox consoles will I be able to interchange hard drives between each console? I want to clone a nulled drive and put the clone in another xbox with a nulled drive - will this work? Thanks
  10. So I got a STartech Sata to IDE adapter and successfully made and locked a new SATA 500 GG hard drive using HDM v1.9. i got an 80 pin cable and connected my SATA drive and sure enough it booted to the Xbox dashboard. I had my Rocky 5 softmod files and Splinter Cell diskready to go but I can’t load Splinter Cell - I get a message reading - “Your Xbox cannot recognize this disc. Make sure it’s an Xbox game, DVD movie, or audio CD. Also check to see if the disc is dirty or damaged.” I have tried a different dvd drive from another Xbox that I know loads the game and I get the same message. In fact I get the same message if I try to load any other Xbox game disk. Any ideas greatly appreciated

(I want to keep everything that's on the 2TB hard drive) Please keep it simple. I'm new to this whole modding thing. Detailed step by step would be much appreciated.
