I have made a digital copy of this game on the HDD and I get a disc error right at the beginning, after Microsoft logo, that tells me to press A then the game shows the message again on and on. I've tried to launch it both from Evox and XBMC (hard disk game launch, not DVD disc launch). Maybe there's some setting to change or some file to patch ( I heard about Amped2 xbe fix, not sure it's the same case here) but I couldn't find anything on google Pls help

I heard its essential disc for original xbox modding. Anyone know how to use it or find it for download? thanks

Hi Everyone, I picked up another XBOX on eBay that was really clean never been opened. It has a strange issue though, if you power on it will take about 1-2 minutes to boot to the dashboard. If you power on and open the disc tray during the start-up animation it will boot straight away. I opened the XBOX and the clock capacitor had leaked so that got removed and 3 more capacitors had popped so they got replaced today. The motherboard has been completely cleaned. The disc drive works fine once powered up and games run no problem. Anyone had this issue? Is the disc drive on its way out? Thanks in advance

I have the Rocky5 Softmod and it states a DVD drive status of "unknown". It seems like I did it correctly and desoldered those two points on the new Disc Laser Lens. Sometimes I will get the "Empty" status too. I tried Pot tweaks on the old laser and then that helped for a very short time so I bought the new laser after it stopped working. Any ideas? Thanks!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N4Oes8MeRA Very good and useful video about how to remove the Xbox's disc tray bezel/faceplate but at between 30 - 45 secs the guys says: "........................... you're going to think you've broken it but you didn't" or words to that affect, repeated several times. Well..............................................guess what: I tried this with the spare dead disk drive and thought I'd broken it.............................and I had. The shower of black plastic pieces was a good indication. What broke were both the retaining channels each end which slide down over the edge of the tray front not the locking tabs as you might think. I believe I understand what went wrong; when I pulled the tabs clear of the bottom edge of the tray I continued twisting the bezel just that little bit too much. What you should do is when the tabs are just clear of the bottom of the tray stop pulling out/twisting up the bezel any more and change to pushing it straight upwards to slide it off the tray. Once the tabs are clear of the bottom edge of the tray and you start to push up they are actually lodged against the flat tray front surface behind the bezel and from that point all you're doing is sliding it up and off. No more twisting or pulling out is necessary. The little crack you may here is, or should just be, the bezel pinging back into shape as it is under tension. If that is accompanied by a small shower of plastic then you've done it wrong. In short: you do need a bit of firm physical persuasion initially but after that be gentle. Bezels do break.

Hi, I'm a new memeber and this is my first post. I've recently dug out my softmodded OG Xbox 1.6. I modded it maybe 10 years ago then didn't really do anything with it. I remember having it connected to a PC via IDE to carry out the mod, other than that not sure about versions etc. I connected it via component and get a screen that is heavily tinted green after the boot screen. I found some info that this may be due to a poor softmod? In order to try to repair this/update my softmod I have tried to run JCRock5's Extras disc, but it always gets stuck at the splash screen saying "Retail 5838 BIOS DETECTED". I have tried it from disc and iso, cold boot and launcher, always with the same result. I have also tried the Quick Updater and Upgrader which run but both come up with the error "Xbox softmodding tool not installed". A couple of other things I noticed: My G and F drives were not visible. I enabled these in the UnleashX menu which showed the F drive as 0mb but still no G drive. I ran the UnleashX format tool which gave me a 2gb F drive. I tried this for the G drive but it is still not visible. I have also managed to update UnleashX to the latest build via FTP. Any help would be much apreciated. Thanks.

Hello guys. I'm new to using Original Xbox. Found on the Internet interesting information about Borg-OS. Installing it on your console, I was able to assign XBMC4Gamers control panel by default. I have a question for you. Are there any problems in the operation of the Xbox, if this operating system is installed on the hard drive? Should we continue to use it?

Hello. I'm a new poster here. I have a 1.6 version xbox that has notoriously gone through phases where it gives the disc read error for any and every disc including audio cd. After giving up on the system for days or weeks, I can return to it and it suddenly reads all discs again. Most recently, it was not reading anything AND the sticky tray finally quit working, so I removed, cleaned, and replaced the belt. Not only did the drawer work fine, but it started reading discs again. So now, once again, trying to play Deathrow, the drive tried and tried to load the game, green light was flashing, then the disc read error appeared. At this point, when I try any disc, I hear three quiet "click" sounds from the drive when the tray closes, and the disc error appears very quickly. It's almost like it has switched to some default mode where it just "assumes" it won't read the disc. There is very little to no drive activity first, before the error appears. Is there some form of memory in the HDD that is forcing the error to occur without even attempting to load the disc? Can I somehow "clear" this memory? I am skeptical that the drive has failed, since as I said, it works brilliantly for long stretches of time until it just decides not to.

Hi I'm running new genesis version 25 and I have a bunch of Sega CD ISO is loaded into the emulator. Everything works well I'm very happy with this emulator. The best Sega emulator for Xbox hands down. Only problem is I'm having a difficult time playing the second disc on some of the original Sega CD games.. also I'm having a hard time getting Sega CD games to read from Xbox drive when in load this section of NeoGenesis.. Is there a trick or does anybody know how to get around this? How does the emulator play from physical disk? Do all different revisions of the Xbox optical drive compatible to play original Sega CD games? Thank you very much. Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated. I got a system in today from eBay (of course in "Perfect Condition") except when I powered it up it had a Flashing Green Ring / Won't Fully Boot or Read Disc. I opened it up and found that nice dent in the DVD drive. Swapped out the drive and it worked fine. Thanks for the assist Blake!

Used to allow the cloning of hard drives for softmodded consoles. Burn it to a disc. Features are : check connected drives, hard drive cloning, check security status, locking/unlocking (never unlock your original hard drive.
