  1. YES, bad cap can cause the problem. To be on the safe side, I'd replace all 4 of those same value caps. I think there are 4 that have the same value near the motherboard power connector. Capacitor source: https://www.badcaps.net/index.php
  2. From the diy.sickmods.net page we've both been reading: Check the PowOK and PowON levels. PowON 3.3V then PowOK should go to 3.3V too. Both should hold that level until the power button is pressed to turn off the Xbox and the voltage on PowON should go to 0V and shutdown the Xbox thus PowOK should go to 0V too. Which doesn't match up with what's shown. PowOK for v1.6 shows in sickmods.net's Delta1.6 figure same 3.3 either state. Don't think that's correct but haven't checked a v1.6 and need to find my multimeter too before I can tet things.
  3. Does the collector of the transistor stay at the 3.27V or does it drop after 1-2 seconds? I've not had to test a v1.6 with a power on problem. Providing info that I've read on the subject.
  4. Power supply voltage levels at the motherboard connector for various Xbox versions: Source: http://diy.sickmods.net/Tutorials/Xbox1/Power_Supply_Pinouts/
  5. Sounds like the transistor's your best option to fix it. I think it signals the PSU to turn on and without the collector held at 3.26 to 3.3Vdc the PSU won't come on. If you have a multimeter, you could check the voltage level at the transistor's collector (RED multimeter lead) with respect to GND (BLACK multimeter lead to case shield or one of the screws that hold the motherboard in place.). See page 84 of the XBOX REPAIR GUIDE for more information and Floydzabarber's youtube video - Original Xbox version 1.6 won't power on fix .
  6. Those 2 I posted aren't the originals. Just cut them out of the graphic you posted, resized them and saved.
  7. Don't think that Monster 400x cable was $3.00. I see you have the 100x optical adapter too. Source: Crutchfield.com (seen in figure) no longer in stock.Duh!
  8. Here's a bad IrfanView Cut/Crop/Resize rendition of those two wide icons. 758x140 PNG's not sure if that's the correct format.
  9. The Portta YPbPr to HDMI convertor sells for $20 to $27.00 on Amazon.com and eBay. Looks like he sells the 720p system and includes the Portta component to HDMI upscaler for $35 more. Not sure he's doing digital audio as the Portta convertor takes in R/W RCA stereo not a digital output from the Xbox. With the Xbox High Definition A/V Pack or quality component cable, you have stereo RCA jacks and access to an optical digital output from the Xbox. You can't see the optical port on the side but it's next to the pair of audio jacks at the top of this image. The optical jack on this component cable is built into the big bump on the Xbox AV port jack.
  10. The original Xbox can only do 480p, 720p and 1080i without an upscaler that will add a bit of delay between the video out of the Xbox through the scaler to the HDTV. Not sure that it will create enough to be noticeable or not. Some upscalers add more much more delay than others. I'd think N64 Freaks HDMI mod listed in forums at ogXbox.com would be a better option. Have yet to read the eBay sellers claim's.
  11. Not sure the differences, http://www.xbox-scene.com:80/modchips3b_table.htm, The white PCB indicates that the chip came flashed with Cromwell BIOS. The GS has 1 bank pre-flashed with a v1.0-1.5 compatible version and the other bank flashed with the v.1.6 compatible Team Xecuter FlashBIOS 3.0.3. See https://web.archive.org/web/20061125031932/http://www.duomodchip.com:80/english/main.htm click on Spec/FAQ button then either the DuoX 2 GS Chip Specifications or DuoX 2 GS Cromwell/FlashBios Edition link for more information. Keep scrolling down for the DuoX Lite and DuoX modchips.
  12. M8plus_16.bin (256KB) or x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin (512KB) are your two options. If you use the official release of Evolution-X's M8plus_16.bin, first pass it through, load and save the dot bin file, with EVTool 1.0.9 to have the latest LBA48 patch applied.
  13. Both links come up with, "Permission denied."
  14. But software has been modified to be able to load a specific XBE (Xbox Executable)! Any software modification = softmod. (Hmm, bold doesn't show up BOLD to me looks normal.) Even Hardmods (modchips) loading a hacked BIOS is a softmod. It just uses a bit of hardware to load modified software.
  15. welcome to the world of ogXbox!
  16. welcome. XBMC4Xbox for a media center, however, a lot of the scripts and plugins no longer work for the aging Xbox. Most of the devs moved their development efforts over to Kodi after XBMC dropped Xbox support and changed the name of XBMC to Kodi. Larger HDD installation. DVD2Xbox v0.7.8R2 to install games from original game disc to Xbox HDD. DVDX v2.0 Region Free DVD player no Xbox DVD playback kit required to play DVD's on the Xbox. Tons of retro and arcade emulators. Various replacement dashboards: UnleashX, AvaLaunch, Evolution-X, XBMX4Xbox are the most popular.
  17. X3 3294 - there are two dot bin files one for v1.0-v.1.5 Xboxes and another for v1.6 to flash to the chip. They are both 1MB in size. You can also flash other BIOS's to additional banks 5-8 on the X3 as it contains 2MBs of flash memory to store BIOS's. Other popular BIOS's that can be flashed to the X3 modchip: Evox M8plus (256KB) also supports v1.0-v1.5 or v1.6 with two different dot bin files. iND-BiOS 5003 only supports v1.0-v1.5 Xboxs as well as the beta (a.k.a. 5004 release). Team Xecuter's X2 4983 (256KB), or X2 5035 (512KB).can be used too for only v1.0-1.5 Xboxes. Updated as per DarkGabbz's post below, there are v1.0-1.5 and v16 versions of X2 5035: x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin x2_5035_vOld_512k.67.bin x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin Only the X3 BIOS supports the extended features of the X3 modchip. X3 Live Config Source: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2060#p17092 I've seen several X3 modchips that were never flashed with the X3 BIOS to take advantage of all its features. 18. Outrun 2 supports up to 8 players via system link. Outrun 2 Back Cover Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast supports 2 to 6 players via system link. Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast Back Cover Xbox game case back covers show the number of players supported for system link play..
  19. Not a video tutorial but this forum thread has lots of good info: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=649&hilit=2tb+hdd Use XBPartitioner 1.3 instead of 1.1. Biggest problem is making sure that the cluster size is set correctly for the larger partition size. Cluster size in KBytes relates to maximum partition size in GB's using the following formula: n KB x 16 = m GBytes 8 KB cluster size → 8 x 16 = 128 GB 16 KB cluster size → 16 x 16 = 256 GB 32 KB cluster size → 32 x 16 = 512 GB 64 KB cluster size → 64 x 16 = 1,024 GB (1 TB)(Source: http://www.smdepot.net/forum/index.php?topic=2438.0) A cluster is the minimum size a file is allocated on the HDD. A file smaller than 64KB will still be allocated 64KB of HDD space (128 512-byte sectors). Files larger than 1 cluster will be allocated multiple clusters until the remaining part to be written is less than 1 cluster. This remaining chunk of data will be allocated and stored to 1 final cluster on the HDD. If a game has 100's of small files (<64KB), lots of space will be allocated/wasted on those files reducing the available free space much faster then when a small cluster size is used. XBPartitioner 1.3 will let you know if it thinks the current cluster size is wrong for the partition size by showing "ER" as indicated in the figure below. Source: https://assemblergames.com/threads/xbpartionter-1-3-2tb-mod.66136/ You need a compatible IDE-to-SATA adapter and an 80-wire 40-pin IDE cable (24 inches long). This new cable is a MUST have item. These are the pitfalls to overcome when installing a 2TB SATA HDD in an ogXbox. Use XBPartitioner 1.3 not any prior version to partition and format the 2 HUGE 927.78GB (for a 2TB drive) extended partitions 6 and 7 on HDD. Make sure that you select 64KB clusters for these two 927.78 GB partitions. Smaller cluster sizes don't support access to the entire partition and will cause data corruption when you reach the last cluster and loop back to the beginning of the partition overwriting data. Purchase a compatible adapter best if it has MASTER/SLAVE (CS too if available) IDE device configuration jumpers. The KingWin ADP-06 does not and is always a MASTER on the IDE bus. Therefore, it cannot be used with Chimp to clone the original HDD as outlined in most softmod larger HDD installation tutorials. Otherwise, the KingWin ADP-06 works when installing a larger SATA HDD in a TSOP'd or hard modded Xbox You MUST use an 80-wire 40-pin IDE cable to eliminate problems caused by the higher data transfer rates when using a SATA HDD and adapter. The Xbox does support UDMA100. The IDE spec/standard states that for higher transfer rates this cable is necessary to eliminate crosstalk between the higher speed signals sent between the controller and drive.
  20. The latest softmod is Rocky5's (a.k.a. JCRocky5) Xbox Softmodding Tool v1.1.2 (source repo) last updated 29 days ago today. Video tutorials (2): First video is a bit dated as there's an updated 2017 release of the Xbox Softmodding Tool with a slightly different UI shown in the second video below. Rocky5 mentions that v1.1.2 hasn't been released yet in the last 3minutes of the following video. It has been released latest update Aug 17, 2017. a month after the Test Build Overview video was released.
  21. This is the only feature that I'm not sure the Aladdin XT plus 2 supports: Can be used with any Modchip that uses LPC pin #4 for D0 for a solderless connection I think you could solder a wire from the Aladdin XT plus 2's D0 pad to pin 4 of the header. I've not doubled checked to make sure there is no connection (N/C) to that pin but as it was unused in v1.0-v1.5 ogXboxes ... should be a good ASSumption. IIRC, pin 4 has no connection for a lot of modchips. 1.0-1.5 Xbox's have no thru-hole pin at this location on the LPC debug header. With the advent of solderless adapters, hacker teams added D0 connection to this unused pin thus eliminating the need to solder a wire to the modchip and ogXbox motherboard for D0 point connection. LPC Debug Header ogXbox v1.0-1.5 (No pin 4 hole). This is really a v1.0 LPC debug header but other versions were similar - not filled with solder. LPC Debug Header ogXbox v1.6 (pin 1 white arrow/square pad) all odds on bottom row (same side as pin 1) and all even pins on top row. Team Xecuter's X3 pin header install guide for a v1.6 Xbox shows that pin 4, 6 (always on 5Vdc) and 16 are removed from the pin header before soldering into place in the ogXbox motherboard's LPC Debug port.
  22. The Xecuter Xapt3r v1.6 was a universal adapter that worked with any LPC installed modchip. I think the Xenium S.P. adapter did as well. S.P.Ice.pdf
