  1. Hard for me to test it right now I only have SD hooked up to my ogXbox. What's not working mean in your case? Nothing shows up? Changing to your new skin freezes/locks up UnleashX? Update: Tried to change to it and UnleashX locked up for me. Not sure if that's because I only have 480i resolution with SD (composite or otherwise.
  2. Take the space after Lions out of the filename. Change "Detroit Lions .zip" to "Detroit Lions.zip". What's not working mean? It can mean several times. I've downloaded it and will test. More info after I try it. What resolution are you running at? Many items will be off the screen for 480i/480p? 640x480 = bolded values below off screen Excerpt from Detroit Lions skim.xml file: <Main Globe="False" Orb="False" Fog="False"> <Background EnableAudio="False">lions.png</Background> <InfoFont>Square-10.xpr</InfoFont> <Text Top="652" Left="665" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="VideoMode" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="246" Left="692" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="Tray" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="21" Left="72" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="SerialNum" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="612" Left="666" Width="192" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF000000" Source="F_FreeMB" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="613" Left="452" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF000000" Source="E_FreeMB" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="87" Left="66" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF000000" Source="SkinVersion" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="108" Left="65" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="CPUTempC" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="648" Left="455" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="IP" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="66" Left="71" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF0080C0" Source="Date" Align="Left" /> <Text Top="43" Left="68" Width="200" Scroll="0" Color="0xFF000000" Source="Time" Align="Left" /> <Image Top="15" Left="1068" Width="142" Height="189" Source="GameIcon" /> <Image Source="GamePreview" /> <Menu Align="Left" ShowIcon="False" ShowArrows="False"> <Preview EnableAudio="True" Top="12" Left="632" Width="144" Height="191" /> <Position Top="11" Left="777" Width="284" Height="195" Fixed="True" FixAt="2" MaxItem="4" /> <Font>Square-10.xpr</Font> </Menu>
  3. Rename the folder that XBMC-Emustation is installed in so it's not found high up in the boot order list used by the Xbox Softmodding Tool Xbox Softmodding Tool Boot Order C:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe E:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe F:\XBMC-Emustation\default.xbe C:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe E:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe F:\XBMC4Gamers\default.xbe C:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe E:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe F:\XBMC4Xbox\default.xbe C:\XBMC\default.xbe E:\XBMC\default.xbe F:\XBMC\default.xbe C:\dashboard\default.xbe E:\dashboard\default.xbe F:\dashboard\default.xbe C:\dash\default.xbe E:\dash\default.xbe F:\dash\default.xbe E:\default.xbe E:\XBMC.xbe E:\dashboard.xbe C:\evoxdash.xbe E:\evoxdash.xbe C:\XBMC.xbe For example, rename the folder to: XBMC-Emu
  4. They go into UnleashX's skins folder. where that's at all depends on how UnleashX is configured as the directory's location can be set. If the default path value of Skins is listed in the System -> Settings -> System -> Skins Path line. Then, you need to determine where UnleashX's default.xbe file is running from. While on a menu, not in the Settings page, press Y. Scroll down until you reach the UnleashX section that displays the Path and Phy. Location values. FTP to the console and to go this Path location on the Xbox's hard drive. There you should find a folder named skins. Upload each skin's zip into a named subfolder there or extract the contents of the skin's archive file and upload the contents into a named subfolder. (To save space on the hard drive, leave each skin in it's own zip file stored in a subfolder named the skin's name you want displayed in the skin selection menu. Multiple skins cannot be stored inside one zip file.) Enough of the word skin in that line. Even though a skin's skin.xml file contains the skin name, the folder name where it is stored is used in UnleashX's skins menu list when selecting a different skin. Skins, like games, cannot be stored under sub sub folders of the scanned path set for them.
  5. Disable it in UnleashX's settings. Or, change it to a slideshow or video file. System -> Settings then down to the System page, scroll down to the Screen Saver section. Press A to change the Wait value to 0. Press B, when prompted, "Do you want to save settings?" move to Yes and press A to save the changes. Repeatedly press B to go back until you are at the main menu.
  6. What version is the kernel? Some Evoxdash skins display it and/or the BIOS name. If the evox.ini file has no matching name for the booting BIOS's MD5 hash the BIOS version will display: Unknown. However, the kernel version is a number that will be printed. From it the BIOS version can be narrowed down. Team Evolution-X did not assign a unique number separate from Microsoft's that their's were based upon.
  7. In newer versions of XBMC4Xbox, it's printed in the xbmc.log file. Login to the Xbox's FTP server and go to the Q drive. Download log file and open it in a text editor: Excerpt from the top of XBMC4Xbox's xbmc.log file (the version is printed in BOLD letters below): 18:36:27 M: 56655872 NOTICE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:36:27 M: 56635392 NOTICE: Starting XBMC4Xbox 3.5.3-r33027 (SVN:33027, compiler 1310). Built on Feb 27 2016 the same cannot be said about older versions though: 18:51:53 M: 52830208 NOTICE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:51:53 M: 52809728 NOTICE: Starting XBoxMediaCenter. Built on Oct 27 2006 Or, go to XBMC or XBMC4Xbox's Settings -> System Info page. It will be displayed there. Exactly where to find this information page depends on the skin being used. For example: XBMC4Xbox - Confluence Lite Use the D-pad to move to System then down and over to System Info, press A to see the following page. The version is printed in blue. XBMC4Xbox - Project Mayhem III On the main menu, press the D-pad left or right to have the Red power button icon selected on the bottom of the screen (slowly pulsing Red background color going on and off), press A, then move left to the i and press A to see the following page. The version is printed on the bottom of the right-hand pane. here XBMC4Xbox 3.5.3-r33027.
  8. Yes, I've forgot which dashboard are you using? (and too lazy to go back and try to find it.) I'm guessing XBMC. It's not the simplest thing to do as the menu has one Games tab under PROGRAMS but you can add additional items to the menu. UnleashX's menu is a bit easier (no make that a whole lot easier) to configure to split the listing into many parts. Install games in separate folders (e.g., 0-9, A-E, etc) and add a menu entry for each section so that items listed in it are stored in separate subfolders for each group that you want displayed. You could have Games - Racing, Games -Sports, Games - FPS, etc. They can be listed under the top-level menu or you can create named groupings under the top-level Games menu item. Listed on top-level menu: Launch DVD Games - Racing Games - Sports Games - FPS Games - <another group> Applications System File Explorer MS Dashboard Or under Games Launch DVD GamesRacing Sports FPS <another group name> Applications System File Explorer MS Dashboard
  9. There should be no game that is 2TB in size. If you have, for example, the 2TB Origins disc image, it is meant to be installed to an empty, well doesn't matter it will overwrite data on any 2TB drive with the disc image content. Use the Windows application from HDDGuru called HDD Raw Copy Tool. The HDD Raw Copy Tool supports creating from and writing to a hard drive two types of image files. Either a dot img or dot imgc file - the former is an uncompressed disc image while the later is a compressed disc image.
  10. Ah yes, I believe both XBMC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation are designed to be displayed on a high-definition TV at 720p resolution, not 480i.
  11. Those games must be bad rips found online that don't work.
  12. That's another option. Now that I've softmodded a few systems, I always think of ways to repair a softmodded Xbox instead of installing a modchip. Although my main console has a modchip installed, not a softmod.
  13. For XBMC variants, you need to run through the Video calibration Display Settings to make the video output fit your TV screen. Generally found under: System -> Settings -> Appearance -> Display -> Video calibration...
  14. I'm not sure if XBMC-emustation fully supports all the language options of XBMC4Xbox. I'm not even sure that XBMC4Xbox 3.5.3 supports the Russian language properly (not all skins work Confluence Lite and Confluence work the best others don't print the Cyrillic characters properly. I do see <XBMC root folder>/language/Russian/strings.po and other language subfolders but only one <XBMC root folder>/media/font/arial.ttf TrueType font file. I'm not sure what font files Confluence and Confluence Lite obtain the Cyrillic font being displayed. I see what you mean when you select Russian as the language most text is printed as a weird character not the proper Cyrillic symbol each character. The Xbox itself doesn't fully support Internationalization. I believe the FATX filesystem does not support Unicode filenames. It has a limited set of ASCII characters allowed in file names. For a better answer, PM @Rocky5 or post a query in his the appropriate XBMC-Emustation subforum here. However, he recently posted he's a dad of newborn twins and he's currently busy being a father to them instead of spending a lot of time working on Xbox-related projects.
  15. May be a bad hard drive. Most, if not all, games cache data to the hard drive to play. If the console has problems reading data from the hard drive, the game may freeze. Replace the hard drive. The console needs to be modded to obtain a copy of the eeprom.bin backup or read the configuration EEPROM with a Raspberry PI and PiPROM software or a PC with 9-pin serial port and an Xbox EEPROM reader using PonyProg software so you can build a new locked hard drive for the Xbox using XboxHDM. XboxHDM v1.9 or 2.2a if the PC has an IDE port. XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 no the PC has not native IDE port but you need a USB-to-HDD interface adapter to attache the new HDD to the PC to prep it for the Xbox.
  16. You can add the pictures to posts in a topic as well as post links to videos that are hosted on youtube. Use the Choose files... link below to attach to your post. I've not tried the drag and drop feature mentioned by the paperclip icon. Paste in a link to a youtube.com video and the editor will insert the video into your post.
  17. There's also the reddit.com/r/originalXbox/ subreddit's Xbox Softmod Sharing Chain. However, it does take being active on reddit to have 1000+ Karma, etc. All the requirements to get into the chain are spelled out at their post linked above. There is a person in Canada to obtain the kit from to softmod your console.
  18. Found this picture showing those messages on imgur.com. https://imgur.com/nPF0U9d Starting Linux continues right past these asking you to press Enter (the controller's A button) which then starts Chimp's menu system.
  19. Welcome to OGXbox.com. Mod it or lose it, KaosEngineer P.S. Have a look at the web site XBMC-emustation.com. Enjoy!
  20. I want to clear things up a bit here. Where do you see these Cannot allocate resource line(s)? On my system, there are 5 lines displayed before the i8042 not found line. Three (3) of which state: PCI: Cannot allocate resource region N blah blah blah followed by two more lines PCI: failed to allocate mem blah blah blah when Linux is booting or After the menu system is displayed and you are selecting or have selected the option to clone the Master to Slave hard drive?
  21. For the extended partition size, check the partition settings using NKPatcher Settings app of the Xbox Softmodding Tool. I believe once installed the Xbox Softmodding Tool's default LBA48 configuration is F and G; however, F is limited to ~120GB in size. The space up to the original 137GB max hard drive size before the LBA48 patch came out and G takes the rest. If you have no G or it's disabled in UnleashX's settings. You will not see all of the space available on the hard drive. XBPartitioner v1.3 should show you how the drive was partitioned.
  22. How big are the ISO files? If they are 6+GBs, they are ReDump format ISO's not XISOs. ReDump disc images are to be exact duplicates of the original game disc, not just the XDVDFS files extracted from it and stored in an XISO disc image. To extract the XDVDFS portion of a ReDump-style disc image (ISO), use XDVDMulleter Beta 10.2 or GX XGD Extract v00.10.10
  23. The no controller found line is normal for the Xbox. It has no i8042 PS/2 keyboard and mouse controller. You are to make sure the slave hard drive is unlocked before cloning. A brand new hard drive would not be locked. The software cannot read/write data from/to the hard drive while it is locked. Thus, the Cannot allocate resources error message.
  24. The modified BIOS you have flashed to your modchip has it's LBA48 configuration set for F up to 137GB and G takes the rest or F up to 137GB, no G drive. Which BIOS did you flash to the modchip? The default that comes with the chip really needs to be reflashed with m8_16.bin with the settings modified with EVTool. Using XBPartitioner v1.3 as @nikeymikey suggests writes a partition table to the hard drive that is read by the latest BIOSes and overrides these default settings.
