  1. Boot an installer disk then install a replacement dashboard. HeXEn 2018
  2. How's the wiring differ? All pins of Xbox LPC ports get connected to the same signals. For 1.6 Xbox's, you have to reconnect the signals to the pins since MS removed the signal connections to them. There's another tutorial showing you how to install the X3 modchip into a 1.6 Xbox https://team-xecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm
  3. Three additional PC Port XMV video files for XvGM: Hexen II, Heart of Darkness and Diablo https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xMnDSWZLJbnvuRf4jiUvYoWibmUfY_0E
  4. CB-Games is re-organizing the XVGM repository. A version is available at SPPV's GREPO archive: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/km5c9do7ti5pu/GREPO#gjoydkqip8m7g
  5. Yeah, I watched Pound Technology's YouTube video again and there still did not seem to be a definitive solution to problems with certain Xbox consoles and their HD Link cable. Personally go with @Kekule's HDMI VIDEO ADAPTER available in limited supply (sells out quickly each week when new stock is listed) from his website chimericsystems.com $50.00 w/o TOSLink Optical digital audio out. I'm not sure of the price with TOSLink optical digital audio output none are currently available to try to add a cable and TOSLink option. Note: The cable passes digital audio through the HDMI port to the TV. Some TV's have an optical TOSLink output port to connect to an external surround sound hi-fi system. From the product description page: Optional TOSLINK footprint coming soon! Don' know what the TOSLink add-on is. Thought it was the new format but don't see any other picture showing just a separate add-on item.
  6. Here's a review by Adam Koralik on YouTube:
  7. Not that you have a Pound HD Link cable; however, Pound had problem with some v1.4 consoles doing weird things with their HDMI cable. IIRC, their suggested fix was to replace the filtering capacitors on the motherboard next to the CPU heatsink and PSU connector (for some motherboards there are 3 and others have 5 3300uF 6.3Vdc 105 degree C rated ultra-low ESR electrolytic capacitors. And, with their newer version which supports being powered via a USB cable, do so. Edit:
  8. How's that? Turning on and off, what AV cable are you using?
  9. True. Can't hurt for @Sherlock to try the three-pad trick (max of 2-wires connecting to 3 solder points on the motherboard - ground and two TSOP address lines) Coma console fix. The three wire's is for a TSOP flash recovery. Wayback Machine capture of llamma.com's Coma console fix tutorial.
  10. Your modchip looks like the one pictured below? Ignore the way it's mounted and the PCB below it - the LCD-MODv1. Source: https://falz.net/wiki/File:Dsc02070.jpg
  11. Oops, posted to the wrong forum thread.
  12. The three-wire trick for a v1.0 or v1.1 consoles is only for the situation where the eject ring is solid green after power on yet there's no video or audio from the console. The condition the old Xbox modding site llamma.com coined as a "Coma console".
  13. No. IIRC, the Aladdin modchip doesn't support a LAN activity light - that's a Team Xecuter X3 feature. It can do something to show hard drive (or simply IDE bus activity) on the front panel Eject ring LED but it is an optional feature. It does not have to be connected for the modchip to function. You only need to install the pin header, connect the D0 pad of the modchip to the D0 point on the v1.4 motherboard and either bridge the BT pad to ground (pin 2 of the quick solder area of the modchip is convenient) for always-on operation. Or, connect it to the power button signal conditioning resistor near the front panel connector on the motherboard. If you connect to the power button signal, a short power button tap boots the console with the modchip disabled. A long (> 1 second) power button press is required to power on the console with the modchip enabled.

  15. Welcome to OGXbox.com. Mod it or lose it, @KaosEngineer
  16. What do you mean? There's a link to CB-Games google drive where the files (videos) used by the XVGM skin can be downloaded. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AEItVXVUBg36SUeZ_IsaD9ie0wYyG12c <<=== This link no longer works. Edit: I see! He seems to have taken down the XVGM archive from the google address previously shown. I'll get in touch with him and see where it has been moved to (or if google took it down and he doesn't realize it is no longer online.) Edit 2: I get it - YouTube video links: CB-Games has several. One is linked below and others are available on his YouTube Channel As well as, Fabien Hugues' Xbox Video Game Museum (First menu preview) video:
  17. The password for smartctl.exe's options: -s security-unlock,[password] -s security-disable,[password] may have to be entered as a hexadecimal string (2 hex characters (0-9,a-f) per each byte of the password. Thus, if the password is the ASCII string: Seagate + 25 spaces the equivalent hexadecimal string is: 5365616761746520202020202020202020202020202020202020202020202020 S = 53 e = 65 a = 61 g = 67 a = 61 t = 74 e = 65 <space character> = 20. The Western Digital hard drive default password: WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD equivalent hexadecimal string is: 5744435744435744435744435744435744435744435744435744435744435744 W = 57 D = 44 C = 43 Xbox-scene locking/unlocking application default MASTER passwords: TEAMASSEMBLY => 5445414d415353454d424c59 and XBOXSCENE => 58424f585343454e45
  18. You can try to unlock the hard drive using the smartctl.exe applications that's part of XboxHDM23USB. Open a cmd.exe window using the Run as Administrator option. Change directory to the location where you've installed XboxHDM23USB. There are two different versions of this it. Next, change into the Beta 2 - your in the correct directory to use smartctl.exe, Beta 3 - cd into the XboxHD subfolder. You'll need to determine which device - /dev/sd%1 the command needs to communicate with. (You will be substituting a single character for %1.) Type in: wmic diskdrive get model, name %1 will be replaced with a single character depending upon which PHYSICALDRIVEn is returned where the Xbox HDD is seen by Windows: n = 0 : %1 = a n = 1 : %1 = b etc. The format of the smartctl.exe command used to check the lock status is: smartctl.exe -g security /dev/sd%1 (remember to substitute the single character for %1 of the drive's device name) Unlock the hard drive with the password computed from the eeprom.bin's HDDKey smartctl.exe -s security-eeprom-unlock,eeprom.bin /dev/sd%1 Remove the locking password again computed with the HDDKey in the eeprom.bin file so it will not be locked again after power cycling the hard drive: smartctl.exe -s security-eeprom-disable,eeprom.bin /dev/sd%1 To use a keyed in password, I believe the format is: smartctl.exe -s security-unlock,"Password" /dev/sd%1 That command will unlock drive until power cycle or IDE bus reset. smartctl.exe -s security-disable,"Password" /dev/sd%1 That command will disable ATA security - drive will be remain unlocked after power cycle or IDE bus reset. I've not tried keying in a text password. It may not need the quotation marks surrounding the password text. However, I don't know how it would know the Seagate hard drive password of "Seagate " without them. There are 25 space characters after Seagate. To disable the ATA security password, both the unlock and disable command have to be issued in the order shown above. Unlock the drive then disable security.
  19. Ninja Gaiden DLC Hurricane Packs only work with Xbox Live. I've not seen a work around for this requirement.
  20. Sounds like a dead hard drive. It may have been hard modded at one time then the modchip was removed and the console softmodded. But, the hard drive has died. Edit: from the wiring on the back, they never completed the LPC rebuild required for a 1.6 console for the modchip to work. They gave up on the modchip install then softmodded it.
  21. https://downloads.diodematrix.com/homebrew/xbins/Console Based Applications/bios/evolution-x/MULTI_VERSION/ Better still, use the version found on the HeXEn 2018 installer disc. It's already been patched with EVTool to have the best of class settings and LBA48 patch applied - evox.m8plus.fc.137.bin (for v1.0-1.5 console revisions) or evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin (for v1.6 console revision - this version will run on older revisions; just not the other way around, you can't use the v1.0-1.5 BIOS version on a 1.6 console).
  22. A current limiting resistor for the LED. Depends on the specifications of the LED used what standard resistor value to use. Vdd - Vf = 3.3 Vdc (pin 9 of LPC port) - Vf (LED forward voltage) R = --------------- = -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isu Isu (suggested using current aka forward current to operate the LED) If you don't install the LED, you don't need the resistor. All it shows you is that the modchip has power. The LED is directly connected to the LPC debug port's 3.3Vdc supply line through the current limiting resistor to ground. Many Aladdin clones don't even have the resistor and LED installed. Cost cutting build!
  23. That won't work. The Xbox hard drive is locked with a password unique to the Xbox it was installed in. The reason unlocked hard drives work in a TSOP flashed/modchipped console is because the modified BIOS removed the checks requiring the hard drive to be locked. Thus, the hard drive does not have to be locked. However, if the hard drive is locked, you cannot swap it to another Xbox. You'll get an Error 06 screen. HDD cannot be unlocked. To unlock the hard drive, you can read the data from the 8-pin serial EEPROM that holds the HDDkey. This chip holds 256 bytes of data. There are several methods to read the data from the Xbox's configuration EEPROM.
  24. Another thing, the default skin has no xml file. It's part of the UnleashX dashboard's coding.
  25. It's part of UnleashX's default.xbe, not a separate file in the skins folder. All of the skins with names not surrounded by < and > are built into UnleashX. Those with < and > are found in UnleashX's Skins subfolder. The startup splash screen, UXSplash.jpg, is stored in UnleashX's save on the E drive. You'll find it in the subfolder: /E/UDATA/9e115330/0064122817A8/ Edit: Rocky5 has extracted the XML files from UnleashX's default.xbe. I've attached the archive below. To use a skin found in the archive, create a subfolder in the folder where UnleashX's skins are located on your hard drive with the name of the archive's XML file and change the file's name to skin.xml. Reboot the console. The new skins will have < and > surround their names. skins.zip
