Hi Craig Here is an update on the previous posts The Xbox has now got 128meg ram and a HDMI kit from N64 freak and I have rerouted the wiring a bit to test fit all the plastics The USB holder was 3D printed (the pink part) and it came from a Facebook member via thingiverse.com and the OGX360(the black box with the USB plug near the Xblast chip) is the result of german engineering from N64 freak. Without the DVD and Hard disk mounting With the DVD/HDD mounts USB holder I still need to glue the GPU heatsink or I might make a bracket to hold it in place using the hole left from the plastic holder and the CPU one is held with 4 screws using the holes from the OE plastic holder. I have already flashed the TSOP with a X2-5032 BIOS so the mod chip can be removed and I am thinking a 2tb HDD fully loaded. I have been using the 007 AUF game for as long as I can remember to Flash the BIOS with outsoft modding and I have now used Mechassault and Splinter cell to Flash a TSOP without softmodding You can also use Splinter Cell, Mechassault,Tony Hawk's pro skater 4 ,007 Agent Under Fire to softmod with the rocky5 software. If it was my Xbox or one sent to me with the problems your having I would fit a mod chip and scrap the Softmod altogether . The number one rule with soft modding is as soon as you can null the hdd key then you can use a PC or a 2nd Xbox to rebuild the hdd. If you can get you hands on a EEprom reader/writer you can read the EEprom from the working 1.6 Xbox and write that to the non working 1.6 Xbox that way you now have 2 Xboxes that have the same HDD key and you could then clone the HDD and put that in the other Xbox. Or if the key has been nulled you can the use a PC to make a drive to work in the 2nd Xbox. I would fit a Open Xenium modchip and then you can format C and E drives using the modchip's built in HDD tools then FTP the Xbox OS to C:Drive using the modchip's network interface, once that's done then FTP the rest of the stuff you want on the HDD once the Xbox can run on it's own and no DVD needed or look in to using a PC to copy the required files to the Xbox hard drive providing you have the HDD Key from the EEprom to unlock it. Don't need to really change the wiring but something to do when you get a chance If you upgrade the hdd you may need to flash a new BIOS that has LBA48 enable other wise the Xbox will only see 137gb otherwise it's a simple thing to upgrade the HDD. Fit the new hard drive boot with an install disk to install you preferred dash and the FTP games across. Hi Steve Deane It's an Aladdin Modchip 256kb size BIOS and easy flashable. When I fit them I link the BT to ground and don't worry about the L1,L2 wire Grounding the BT makes the chip always active and the only reason to wire to the power button was for Xbox Live. I tested a version 1.4 with X3 chip using X3_3294 bios, using a Thomson DVD, SD to IDE adaptor,Internal wii2hdmi,128mb ram, Hexen 2019 burnt on Verbatim DVD-r using a Acer DVD burner. Same everything with a Samsung DVD Drive TruHexen,AID deluxe 4,Hexen 2017, Slayer 3.3.0, Slayer 2.7 and all disks booted 100% . A version 1.6 with a X3 chip component video out booted Hexen 2019 ok as well. To me if it did not load Hexen I would not lose any sleep of Hexen as Hexen has p!ssed me off with the crap it puts HDD and it changed my dash just because I installed Xblast from the install DVD and the fact that I get hammered on Facesook if I mention that I use Slayers. As I have a 1.6 open just now here is the voltage reading from it. and just in case it's a switch problem if you disconnect the yellow harness from the front panel and temporary short the pin 1 and 2 it should boot up. aAlso test the two pin from the power/eject and when not pressed should read 3.3 volt and 0 volt when pressed. I had a version 1.6 that was doing the same last night. It would start to boot then shutdown and in my case the removing the DVD drives yellow power and IDE leads fixed it, good thing I had a no DVD bios. There is some solder joints on the power supply that I would resolder but I don't think that's the full problem and for me I would take 5 - 10 minutes and run an iron over the whole board. Failing that you may need to beg, borrow or steal a version 1.6 power supply to test you main board. What happens if you boot the Xbox with no dvd drive and no hard drive? I don't think it's a overheating problem because if it get to hot the would Xbox shut down. What hard drive has it got because that's what I would be checking 1st either the software files corrupt or the drive is failing. Try reinstalling the dash your using is something else you could try. Nice job on the cleaning. I have done the rags to riches on several Xboxes and and working on a Cyrstal Xbox at the moment. This is some of the crap from the bottom of ultrasonic cleaner after the all but the casing's have been in it. I was going to ask why a 3tb drive and not 2tb as my 2tb has over 80% of the Xbox games and Coinops with space to spare.
