  1. If you can post some pic's of the board you are working on that would be good Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  2. I would resolder the chip and the TSOP enable points while the board is out of the case as it gives more room around the chip to work with your soldering iron. Then reassemble the Xbox and try deleting the contents of X,Y,Z drives and see if it come good. Then we can see about flashing the TSOP. 3. OK you just remove the cap in the red circle as it will not be doing it job any way and it can leak a corrosive liquid the will cause damage the the copper traces. This is from a Version 1.4 that was sent to me for repair because it would not power on at all because the copper traces had damage from the leaking cap. In this pic you can see it looks OK from the top but you can see the corrosion on the bottom of the cap. The clock cap would only retain the time and date with the power disconnected for about 2 hours anyway. 4. Hello TrashMaster Welcome to ogxbox.com Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  5. It look's alright I would remove the clock cap in the red circle The solder joints in yellow are ones I would resolder and while I have the iron hot add the 2 links in purple to enable the TSOP flash. But as KaosEnginer has mention delete the contents of the 3 drives 1st and see if that sorts it out. 6. I don't do softmods but do not unlock the drive as softmods require it to be locked. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  7. Can you post a pic of the insides of the xbox both power supply and main board as I am thinking capacitor failure may be the cause or the hard drive is failing or the files a seriously corrupt. If you can test a differant hard drive. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  8. Are you loading games from the hard drive? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  9. There Aladdin modchip has 3 modes put it depends on if the led wires were connected. The write protect on or off should no make any difference though what game's are you having problems with and are they DVD or hard drive . Modes: Off - Tap the power button and the Xbox starts as normal with the original BIOS.On - Press and hold power button for 1 second and the Aladdin XT is activated.Writeprotect - Press and hold power button for 2 seconds and the Aladdin XT is activated in flash write protect mode.Visual Mode Indication: The power LED will indicate the current mode by different colors.Off - Green (Normal) / Orange (HDD access)On - Orange (Normal) / Green (HDD access) Writeprotect - Continuous flashing Orange/Green Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. I have seen people reporting no problems with a SSD in an Xbox long term. I have tried a 1tb SSD in a Xbox but because there was no real gains it was short lived and back to a 7200rpm WD black drive. 11. That mod chip will not let the Xbox use a drive above 137gig. The you will need to softmod the xbox and also make sure the hard drive is locked To flash the TSOP you need to add 2 links on the board 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom. You then disconnect the D0 wire that's on the bottom and boot the Xbox It will boot to the softmod and then allow you to flash the TSOP with a new bios. Now you can install the new 2tb hard drive and boot of a install dvd to setup the new drive. Now that your Xbox is working with the new bios you could completely remove the modchip or just leave it there. 12. So it boot fine with the modchip disconnected? What color are the flashing lights? What modchip? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

All electrolytic capacitors are going to fail and the clock cap's in the version 1.6 is now starting to fail as well. With the version 1.6 when the cap fails you need to replace it or the Xbox will not power on. This one has failed. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  14. That modchip is commonly called a cheap_mod and as far a I know to reflash it you needa external programer to flash the chip itself. I am guessing that the board is a version 1.0-1.1 and if it was me I would flash the TSOP chip and then you could remove that chip or fit a new modchip that can be flashed. 15. As far as I have seen the blinking green led is the tray open when the DVD drive is unplugged on a Hard-modded (Mod-chip, TSOP flash)Xbox and the eject button is pressed. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  16. I would say no as normally overheating is solid red and as long as the heatsinks are on then it would take around 3 minutes to overheat from power on/ Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  17. Just remove it. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  18. It is a version 1.0 Yes it does look like the TSOP Flash link is not there or have been removed. I have removed the solder link when the customer was the type of person the would try and reflash the bios and stuff it up as it has happen to me and then I got the blame for it not working. You need to remove the clock cap and clean the board both sides as it has leaked big time and while the board is out post a pic of the bottom. For cleaning I use Isopropyl alcohol and a brush like a toothbrush. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. I would not complain about that solder work at all.. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. Do you know what version it is? Although it is possible a un-modded xbox to fail this way it's more than likely that someone was trying to mod it or it was softmodded and the eeprom was changed for the incorrect file. Maybe post a pic of the main board Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. Green Flashing is more than likely a Bad EPROM image Sometimes fitting a mod chip may fix it, But the other option is to reflash the eeprom with a known good file from a Xbox the same version as yours but you may come unstuck if the hard drive is locked to the main board and the HDD key can not be retrieved from the old eeprom image and if that's the case you will need a new hard drive as well. You need to have a look in side and you will find that the cap's near the 20 pin power connector have got expanding tops and need to be replaced. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. Well you do get what you pay for. There is at least 3 veranents of the wii2hdmi boards and it looks like only 1 of the 3 work correctly when used in this type of conversion The voltage of the capacitor is the maximum voltage allowed for that component so a 25 volt cap working in a circuit thats 5 volt is fine. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. Yep and I have now seen 2 where the damage has also prevented the control ports 1 and 2 from working. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. Solid Green with no audio/video/eject Problem: The unit will not show/give any audio, video, and will not eject the DVD drive. Nine out of ten Xbox’s with this problem usually have a problem with the system bios. Fit a modchip is the recommended fix.
