  1. forgot to take an after picture. Cleaned everything with cotton swaps and paper with IPA. It looks much better now. At least the transistors connections show oxidation. Didn't see any trace damage. The XBOX also boots up fine. Suspect the clock cap bursted not too long ago, it sounded like the person who I bought it from was clearing his attic or something. He only tested it recently. My plan is to sell off this console, so have no real plans to do more then a bit of cleaning, removing the clock cap and installing modern dash & bios. I wouldn't mind replacing all the caps and installing bigger HDD, but at least in Europe it means I will loose a lot of money to make somebody else happy. And I have no plans to collect XBOX consoles
  2. first time I see it in real life, but guess the clock cap has been leaking or was somebody to generous with soldering flux when applying the TSOP? I can easily remove it with IPA and no sign of rust on the RF shield
  3. Managed to score this beauty for a decent price. It's a 1.4 crystal XBOX which is already TSOP'ed and with a 200GB drive. I think I made a good deal paying 90 euro incl shipping. Will clean it up, transplant the internals into my black case and install the 1.4 Ghz board in this one. Suspect I can sell off the rest for the same price if I load it with enough games. It also has the original HD AV pack, not sure what I will do with that one. It is mainly popular in the US I expect.
  4. https://www.ebay.nl/itm/403842412901?hash=item5e06e23165:g:gTMAAOSwII1jAFcc&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoKyAam%2F6CvS6ljbX8KybgZ2bSFWGjRlKbYYdUe8Z70mtrcJBS272fXKaDh9UO0SC4DhH%2Bd4TXfppggD%2FWlHySBOJGa314ylk080zQ8GOTYsfIVQA0IEvDz4ReJwkBE0%2BZxoyf7hiRN47rcO1bwewjKirlmDU8ZOAAMO25AeFA8YBsNv1lh3FZI7eHsgQdpIY6zz%2Fbcajq1BCFBuXYywkYw8%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9bhqIiBYQ I bought an openxenium from this guy a couple of months ago. Haven’t tested it yet but I know that @zzattack got a bunch of them from the same guy. Probably the cheapest option if you want an openxenium
  5. Thanks, I might consider buying the crystal XBOX. 70 euro is a decent price. I can soft mod the console and sell it off again (hopefully)
  6. So I want to build my ultimate XBOX, I already managed to get my hands on a 14.ghz 128 mb ram xbox (1.4 revision), planning to install stellar. But I also want to put it in a nice case. Luckily I can get my hands on a crystal xbox fairly cheap. But this is a 1.6 revision. I know there are issues putting a 1.6 in a 1.0-1.4 case with grounding, how about the other way around? And is there a fix for the grounding issue? Reason I’m asking is that I would probably put the 1.6 board in the 1.4 case to recoup some of my money. I briefly considered putting in a modchip, but sadly the marked for modded xbox in NL is rather slim. With chip, hdd, sata2ide connector and IDE cable I wouldn’t be able to recoup my money
  7. @xretrogamedevx man that sucks. I can’t of anything other then maybe to check if your IDE jumper is correct for the HDD, so whether it’s in Master/Slave or the other. If that’s ok then likely something is broken on your XBOX. I don’t know what could explain this, but this mainly due to my lack of knowledge on this matter. Luckily a replacement shouldn’t be too expensive. Here in Europe you could grab a hardmodded one for €50. My xbox has been running perfectly from both the original and an SSD. And as far as I can find nobody else is suffering from this problem. Anyway good luck, hopefully you can find a cheap replacement that works. Not sure where your located, but maybe somebody on the forum has one laying around.
  8. yeah I'm in similar boat. I still have a 1.6 XBOX around, I was planning to replace it fully by my 1.4 Ghz 128 mb box and sell off the 1.6. The only problem is that the materials like the startech adapater, new HDD will cost me more than what I could sell it for. Typical XBOX goes for around 50 euro's here in NL, not to mention that it would cost me some time to set it up and load it with games to make it even a little interesting. I'll keep it around, maybe one of my sons will be interested in the XBOX in the future. The other XBOX will get the full treatment including Stellar and 256 mb RAM when it becomes available. Just because I can do it :D. Nice on the 1.6 version. Might grab it, because IGR on TITAN is annoying. Sometimes it works but usually it doesn't And I stand corrected, I understood from the stellar topic that XISO's were also larger then folders, but I might have misunderstood the comment.
  9. I wouldn’t call it superior if it excludes ~20% of the community Any reason why they never bothered to make a 1.6 bios? @Bowlsnapper I guess the main reason is that they picked a bios that works for every xbox. This way they could sell more units :D. Regarding the features: - don’t care about custom boot animation, I bet you most of the community thinks the same -XISO is nice to have, but folders are superior except for the games with long filenames. XISO loading takes longer and they take up more space. - IGR, yes this is very nice and probably the only killer feature. But in reality for me the only time I would use it extensively is when I setup my XBOX. So of all the features IGR is the only one I really would miss. Now there is one small problem with your conspiracy theory, the RP2040 was released January 2021 and the XHOX HD 2years prior to that I think. But Dustin might be meeting with the ceo of RPi in comets pizza in Washington. It would explain where he got his inspiration from to name the product Stellar
  10. Did you use the an UDMA5 version of the bios? 6TB should be big enough for the complete library, more games then you can ever play for the rest of your life
  11. The latest cerbios or Titan patched Evox m8+. If the data sheet is correct your SATA to IDE should support UDMA 5, so I would take a bios (Cerbios or Titan) that can enable UDMA 5. It will give you a little speed boost on the HDD. Furthermore, don't remove the past from the GPU/CPU. There is no reason to replace and the goo is hard to remove with risk of damaging your chips. Also there are no clear indications that it will improve your temps. Last action you could look at installing a quieter fan. For me this was one of the most important upgrades, it makes gaming on my console a lot better.
  12. Decided that I wanted some more details, but then the FOMO kicked in you can still pre order them at 8bitmods
  13. I got triggered a bit on the xbox one controller support. Wonder how this will be implemented, would be cool to just plugin an usb Bluetooth stick in the connector port and have wireless controller support without the need of the X360.
  14. Yes had same problems, and I can’t say that I my soldering are anywhere near to mediocre let alone expert level. But I found a few things that make soldering small things easier. First use the right amount of heat. Depends a bit if you use leaded solder or not, but with unleaded 375c seems to be the sweetspot. Make sure the tip is large enough. This one sounds counter intuitive, but you need to transfer enough heat. Lastly make sure to pre-tin your pads and make sure the ground connections are preheated. The ground is usually connected to the copper layer, so heat will escape easily. My project that is basically on hold. It has 0402 components, I wouldn’t mind replacing them with these huge 0603 components
  15. this sounds like good news for my 1.4 ghz xbox. I got it from zzattack and I had the plan to build it up as my one and only XBOX, although in reality I don't think I could get rid of my 1.6 :). I already have an openxenium, so I can run 2 bios versions. I should start making time for my XBOX projects again
  16. There was somebody in another topic who said that you cannot down clock the 1.4 ghz to 733 mhz. Apparently they don’t accept a fsb lower then 100. I still need to test my 1.4 ghz.
  17. @sweetdarkdestinyThese are not rules, merely guidelines. And since I’m dutch I know I can just choose to ignore guidelines
  18. @Natetronn it maybe helps to explain what repackinator does, so people now why they want to go to github to download in stead of first figuring out on github If I understand correctly, and please correct me if I’m wring, is that repackignator splits your redump iso (full disc iso) into 2 dvd iso’s and automagically generates the right default.xbe so you can load it directly with cerbios or other iso-patched biosses (Evox/Ind). Sounds like a very cool program. I thought these bioses were only able to mount *.xiso. Any plans to add xiso conversion in the future? Would save a lot of diskspace compared to normal iso
  19. @prtscn the CPU uses the same stuff. I know because I removed the stuff on advice of the internet
  20. Looked it up how it works, the hdmi mod gives more insight. https://github.com/MakeMHz/xbox-hd-plus/blob/master/manual/Installation Manual (XboxHDMI 1.0 - 1.5).md?ref=w9_zngec1o_ step 5 describes it. basically it shorts 11-12 and 13-14 pins of the av connector. I assume that on the cable side this is done inside the connector. Check if your cable is properly connected, might need to be pushed in slightly further. Check both sides of the AV cable and connector. If you don’t have a spare cable you could try to short these points yourself with a simple wire
  21. Connect the video cable to your TV. Here is a handy overview of the different error codes and led colors https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:Error_Codes
  22. @SeanCasey96 you need to convert them into xiso’s first. Assuming you got them from the internet archive, then you likely have normal iso files. You can extract the data with dvdmueller, you could copy this data directly to your xbox. Or convert it to xiso using qwix. Not sure what’s needed to run xiso’s directly on your xbox, they have a drawback that they have to be mounted everytime you want to play a game adding a lot of loadtime. It is only beneficial with games that have too long filenames, which is only a handful of games
  23. It was released in 2013, minimum pc requirements ar well above that of the Xbox. So don’t think it would bd possible to simply port it
  24. Just noticed that I have multiple of these boxes. Initially thought it was EA only, but then I found a bunch more from different publishers. These boxes were at least all made by Amaray. You could slip in a RF tag for anti theft like this one: https://www.gresswell.co.uk/3mtm-red-tag-disc-media-protection-system.html I also found that there are at least 2 different color boxes, also there is a large variation on the inside of the boxes. Certain logo’s like the EA logo yes or no, amaray log yes no etc… So a lot of variation, which isn’t that strange as there are multiple suppliers worldwide
