I wouldn’t call it superior if it excludes ~20% of the community Any reason why they never bothered to make a 1.6 bios? @Bowlsnapper I guess the main reason is that they picked a bios that works for every xbox. This way they could sell more units :D. Regarding the features: - don’t care about custom boot animation, I bet you most of the community thinks the same -XISO is nice to have, but folders are superior except for the games with long filenames. XISO loading takes longer and they take up more space. - IGR, yes this is very nice and probably the only killer feature. But in reality for me the only time I would use it extensively is when I setup my XBOX. So of all the features IGR is the only one I really would miss. Now there is one small problem with your conspiracy theory, the RP2040 was released January 2021 and the XHOX HD 2years prior to that I think. But Dustin might be meeting with the ceo of RPi in comets pizza in Washington. It would explain where he got his inspiration from to name the product Stellar

Did you use the an UDMA5 version of the bios? 6TB should be big enough for the complete library, more games then you can ever play for the rest of your life
-
The latest cerbios or Titan patched Evox m8+. If the data sheet is correct your SATA to IDE should support UDMA 5, so I would take a bios (Cerbios or Titan) that can enable UDMA 5. It will give you a little speed boost on the HDD. Furthermore, don't remove the past from the GPU/CPU. There is no reason to replace and the goo is hard to remove with risk of damaging your chips. Also there are no clear indications that it will improve your temps. Last action you could look at installing a quieter fan. For me this was one of the most important upgrades, it makes gaming on my console a lot better.

Decided that I wanted some more details, but then the FOMO kicked in you can still pre order them at 8bitmods

I got triggered a bit on the xbox one controller support. Wonder how this will be implemented, would be cool to just plugin an usb Bluetooth stick in the connector port and have wireless controller support without the need of the X360.

Yes had same problems, and I can’t say that I my soldering are anywhere near to mediocre let alone expert level. But I found a few things that make soldering small things easier. First use the right amount of heat. Depends a bit if you use leaded solder or not, but with unleaded 375c seems to be the sweetspot. Make sure the tip is large enough. This one sounds counter intuitive, but you need to transfer enough heat. Lastly make sure to pre-tin your pads and make sure the ground connections are preheated. The ground is usually connected to the copper layer, so heat will escape easily. My project that is basically on hold. It has 0402 components, I wouldn’t mind replacing them with these huge 0603 components

this sounds like good news for my 1.4 ghz xbox. I got it from zzattack and I had the plan to build it up as my one and only XBOX, although in reality I don't think I could get rid of my 1.6 :). I already have an openxenium, so I can run 2 bios versions. I should start making time for my XBOX projects again

There was somebody in another topic who said that you cannot down clock the 1.4 ghz to 733 mhz. Apparently they don’t accept a fsb lower then 100. I still need to test my 1.4 ghz.

Team Resurgent releases Repackinator v1.0
coldasijs replied to Natetronn's topic in General Xbox Discussion
@Natetronn it maybe helps to explain what repackinator does, so people now why they want to go to github to download in stead of first figuring out on github If I understand correctly, and please correct me if I’m wring, is that repackignator splits your redump iso (full disc iso) into 2 dvd iso’s and automagically generates the right default.xbe so you can load it directly with cerbios or other iso-patched biosses (Evox/Ind). Sounds like a very cool program. I thought these bioses were only able to mount *.xiso. Any plans to add xiso conversion in the future? Would save a lot of diskspace compared to normal iso- 11 replies

@prtscn the CPU uses the same stuff. I know because I removed the stuff on advice of the internet

Looked it up how it works, the hdmi mod gives more insight. https://github.com/MakeMHz/xbox-hd-plus/blob/master/manual/Installation Manual (XboxHDMI 1.0 - 1.5).md?ref=w9_zngec1o_ step 5 describes it. basically it shorts 11-12 and 13-14 pins of the av connector. I assume that on the cable side this is done inside the connector. Check if your cable is properly connected, might need to be pushed in slightly further. Check both sides of the AV cable and connector. If you don’t have a spare cable you could try to short these points yourself with a simple wire

Connect the video cable to your TV. Here is a handy overview of the different error codes and led colors https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:Error_Codes

Original Xbox v1.0 w/ Aladdin XT Error Code 07
coldasijs replied to SeanCasey96's topic in Hardware Mods
@SeanCasey96 you need to convert them into xiso’s first. Assuming you got them from the internet archive, then you likely have normal iso files. You can extract the data with dvdmueller, you could copy this data directly to your xbox. Or convert it to xiso using qwix. Not sure what’s needed to run xiso’s directly on your xbox, they have a drawback that they have to be mounted everytime you want to play a game adding a lot of loadtime. It is only beneficial with games that have too long filenames, which is only a handful of games -
It was released in 2013, minimum pc requirements ar well above that of the Xbox. So don’t think it would bd possible to simply port it

Just noticed that I have multiple of these boxes. Initially thought it was EA only, but then I found a bunch more from different publishers. These boxes were at least all made by Amaray. You could slip in a RF tag for anti theft like this one: https://www.gresswell.co.uk/3mtm-red-tag-disc-media-protection-system.html I also found that there are at least 2 different color boxes, also there is a large variation on the inside of the boxes. Certain logo’s like the EA logo yes or no, amaray log yes no etc… So a lot of variation, which isn’t that strange as there are multiple suppliers worldwide

Do you know why the 1 GHz apparently can hit much lower FSB limits? They 1.0 and 1.4 GHz processors are both from the same process. With my limited knowledge FSB limits should be roughly the same. Can it be that the 1 GHz is basically an undervolted 1.4GHz? Xan we actually play with the voltages?
-
@Donnie-BurgerReally interested to learn your findings as a fresh 1.4ghz owner. According to the specs the lowest FSB speed is 100 MHz which supports the statement of @1ghzowner. However also found a topic here were someone commented that he managed to lower the FSB to 70. Another person commented he couldn’t get it lower the 98.

Picked up a 1.4 GHz xbox @zzattack. It was a 45 min drive for me and although shipping is cheaper with current gas prices it was still nice to meat a forum member in person. First of all , super impressed with his lab. Equipment I could only dream about, but honestly I wouldn’t know how to use half of it anyway ;). The upgrade itself was nicely done. Haven’t been in the opportunity to properly test the new XBOX myself. Now have to make a plan on how to turn into the ultimate XBOX. New case (crystal), openxenium modchip, 2 bioses with a 733 Mhz version on the 2nd bank, SSD (probably 2 TB) loaded wit a shitload of patched games both 720p and of course 1400 mhz where possible and an ogx360. It’s a long term project, in the meantime I can give some love to my 1.6 XBOX.

Is there a feature that you want from the latest Bios/dash? Or you just want to have the latest because you can? There are different dashes and BIOS’s available. There isn’t something like the latest version, just different “latest” versions with different features. Installing new BIOS makes sense if you plan to use certain features of that BIOS. a few examples: - LBA48 (bigger HD support then 137 GB, up to 16 TB depending on BIOS) - UDMA5 support, only useful when your SATA2IDE adapter supports higher UDMA standard (larger HD bandwidth) - Makemhz HDMI, only useful if you have the MakeMHZ HDMI installed -128mb RAM support, need to install extra RAM modules.. there are probably more features available but then you get very specific versions. Regarding the dash it is a little bit simpler, it boils down to your preference. You are now using EvoX with slayer skin. The standard EvoX is just a more basic design, same for UnleashX. There are different skins available for those dashes. There a few different XBMC versions, tailored to the use case. XBMC4gamers is hands down the most modern looking with a lot nice features. I would say, use google to see what you like. I usually install everything using a burned DVD with ogXBOX installer 2021, very easy to use and handy if you like to test multiple dashes and Bios versions. It is possible to install using FTP as well, but it requires more prep work to find all the files etc… I don’t know the exact details, bit there are guides available on the internet Hete are 2 forum topics on the OGXBOX installer and the BIOS flasher. The latter contains BIOS withe full LBA48 and UDMA5 BIOS versions.
-
The modchip is an Aladdin modchip. These are quite recent. Big question is what you plan to do with it. You could install a new bios, bigger HD, install new dashboard etc… or just put a game in the DVD drive and just play games
-
@prtscnbuying a good CMR HDD while you have a SSD lying around is literally a waist of money For the rest it’s indeed debatable whether an SSD is worth the extra cost. You get a slight load time improvement in certain games on UDMA2. It’s unclear whether UDMA5 give a bigger improvement, in theory it might, but the gain is again seconds.

I’ve been playing Fable TLC the last few days and ran into a very annoying problem. The game crashes when I move from Bowerstone quay and Bowerstone south. It gets stuck on the loadscreen. First time this happened was the day before yesterday after picking up the blue mushroom potion from the witch, lost about an hour of progress. It reminded me again that we’ve got a lot of QoL improvements over the years like regular autosave :D. Loaded an earlier save yesterday to try again, messed around for about an hour. Actually managed to get the potion successfully this time so thought everything was fine until I went back there for another quest and now I’m stuck in because my last save game and autosave are from Bowerstone quay and every time I move back to Bowerstone south the game gets stuck again on the same loading screen. Google didn’t show any known issues with this other then a few people running into other crashes that might be savegame related. I’m playing the game from HD. I could try running the game from disc, but I’m afraid I have to start from scratch again. Are there things I could try to recover like an old save file or hack the save file to get to an earlier stage?
