You can read a SSD as many times as you like. It wears out when you write to it. CF-Cards can replace a HDD but you already complain about slow speeds with your Seagate HDD so - Don't go that route.

So you compare a 7200rpm HDD with a 5400rpm drive and then you complain that the slower drive is slower? The fastest setup you can get is a UDMA5 bios + SATA adapter with Marvel controller + SSD. Can you make your 5400 HDD faster? No/Yes. You can use a UDMA5 bios with SATA adapter with Marvel controller. If you already run that setup, than thats it. Will it be than fast like your 7200rpm black @ UDMA2? No. Is it worth it to think about any changes with this HDD? No.

And some additional info. No need to cut and rebuild the traces (like shown in the picuters). If you cut right above the first trace and revove the 3 "standoffs" and the little bit of metal shilding from the upper shell, the display fits pretty well. Less fiddely work for those who don't like trace repair and such (Just the 7 vias, the 2 pads for 5v + GND and 3.3v (A) + VCC (K)). Simple as eating pie. And if someone has a SmartXX v1 / v2, the sweet spot for the dimmer is around 1650 and 1750 ohm (Default they are ~ 4500 ohm).

Maybe in a little bit nicer. I personaly would like to have the buttons in the middle under the power button (Like Team Xecuter has made as an addon). And maybe, just maybe, 1 USB port would be enough. It would look sleeker IMO. A display would fit no problem, whitout let it look like tuned Golf GTI from the eighties.

Basicly I don't cut out anything for the HDMI port. How ever, it's also not realy a secret. You just to have to look at some "things" differently and if you know it, it is super easy because it is so obvious. Maybe someone has send you a PM how it is done. And yes, sanding is involved and I hate it but I love how it turns out at the end. E: And for the display I simply use a cheap dremel tool and some sand paper. Nothing to fancy.

Thank god, I had enough front panels to train on. I already ordered some more displays but still need some Xblast Lite modchips. And one little thing crossed my mind. Since Ryzee has made this Aladdin LCD thing for TSOP'ed xboxes, a simple PCB which contains just the Lattice LC4032v or LC4064v in addition with a header for the LPC and connection for the display would be a pretty cool thing. This way you could make these for a couple of dollars/euros. To bad that I have no experience designing a PCB.

No, you need a modded xbox to be able to use this disc.

The EvoX noDVD bioses have only problems with WD-Greens and some other "Green" a like drives because these need to much time to become ready on boot (And some older Hitachi server HDD's also can cause problems as I found out). So if you have problems with just a HDD connected, I would say it's the HDD or the SATA controller. What does your XBox do when you use the noDVD bios in combination with an IDE HDD (no DVD drive connected)? Does it boot?

I would say it's not possible without having the source code of the iND bios and knowlege in assembler/c/c++ .

You can boot the stock bios from a modchip as well but who wants to do that? Grab a EvoX, disable the evox icon and the dvd check and link it right to the ms dash. You can not see any difference and if something ever went wrong, you are on the save side. I have an XBox which is always open and has a cut to size case (Like a benchtable) with an Aladdin and an tl866ii plus to flash chips without the need for FTP/CD/USB (Or for testing HDD setups and such). It's a way faster methode to do it this way. And flashing/dead flashing TSOP's, well, we had that already in a different topic recently. No big deal if a flash goes wrong, like Prehistoricman already wrote. It's a 5 min job (Sounds filthy doesn't it?). You worry way to much about things that could go wrong. And if something breaks, repair it. Good way to learn stuff. About the chips for the R3DUX. No cheap source here but I'm not in a need for one. I have a X3CE, SmartXX v3 and some SmartXX v2/v1 here which I could use but why? For personal use a TSOP is fine. I still try to play Heroes (again) which I bought almost 2 years ago but then I ended up here doing totaly diffenent stuff.

If you want a X3/X3CE, Kekule, Ryzee & Co have made the R3dux which is a clone : https://github.com/ChimericSystems/R3DUX Would say the bios is written in assembly / C/C++. If you have a know good bios like a simple EvoX m8p noDVD or iND 5003 XISO (I prefere the iND because the EvoX CAN cause a error 16 out of the blue) it's a clever move to flash the TSOP even you have mod chip in your console. And when you tinker a lot, a external flasher could be a good investment. In case you flashed a PS5 bios to your XBox TSOP you can reflash your TSOP using the programmer. I personaly use a simple Aladdin and the flasher to test bioses in my TBOX.

I assume that would be possible but not without making changes to the XBlast code and probably the PCB.
