How To Install an Aladdin XT Plus 2 Modchip in a 1.6 Xbox

I sell them for 20 shipped in the USA, programmed and flashed with 1.6 M8+ and X2 5035

How much are we talking to get a couple shipped to Ireland? 4 of them perhaps? Also what is the advantage of them over the regular Aladdin apart from not having to cut the l-frame trace?

I just followed this to a t. Everything looks great, however getting FRAG.  Now, I'm just connecting all the components and trying to start up without being in the case. Should this still work? Or is it possible that not being in the case means it's not grounded properly?

I always remove 6th pin of the pinheader for 1.6 Xboxes. They have 5V active in standby. If you leave this pin, Aladdin's LED will light all the time when console is plugged in. I think it's annoying.

I also never ground D0, it's better to solder it to modchip's D0 point. When modchip fails, with grounded D0 console will FRAG, whereas with D0 soldered to modchip, console will boot from motherboard's bios.

This is exactly why im here.
Man, these little tidbits go a mile. I wasnt comfortable with that being lit either, i mean its fine... its a tiny LED. but WHY does it need to glow red at night. Thanks for that. Very cool.

I cut my L-trace and did not ground D0

works great

Hi...i 've never noticed this on the Aladdin xt installs I've done, but I keep my systems in a switched PSU so there's not constant power.Just some obvious 1.6 install checks, you've performed the lpc rebuild right? You've bridged the points on the chip with BT?Did you cut the trace in the diagram for 1.6 compatibility?

Planning to install this chip on 1.6 xbox and I've seen a few guides. There seems to be a few variations regarding the d0 point on the xbox motherboard.

From what I understand, grounding d0 is not needed if cut one of the traces on the lframe? Is that correct?

That's correct you can cut the Lframe on the top of the PCB near the Xyclops chip

It seem that some people say grounding the D0 on a version 1.6 is bad and may cause damage to the MCPX or the Xyclops chips, But a chip like the Open Xeniun is made to only ground the D0 when required and it allows it to be logic high at all other times.

If you cutting the trace there is no need to connect the Lframe or D0 to the mod chip.

Thanks!

I ended up taking a 15(?) year old aladdin chip out of my 1.4 xbox (which I then tsoped) and followed this guide to install in my 1.6b.

Instead of the d0 wire I just cut the lframe trace.

Even with my rookie soldering skills worked perfect!

I did fudge up the BT solder pad on the chip, so for grounding BT, there's a via trace to BT and I bridged that to ground.

I bought a new OLED65B9PTA tv but am having issues connecting the XBOX to it.  I can hear audio but don't see any video.
The tv has a 3.5mm socket labeled 'AV1' and an adapter cable that goes from white/red/yellow TCA sockets to a 3.5mm plug and that's what I've connected to.
When digging for info I found Please login or register to see this link.  which says 'Unlike many of Samsung's sets, this one actually has an analog video input for legacy (non-HDMI) devices, although it no longer supports analog component video.'
I'm not very clued up on exactly what the different outputs are.  Is the xbox output analog component video and that's why I'm not seeing anything?
I double checked plugging into my old TV and the XBox itself definitely still works.
I'll appreciate any tips you might have.
      Cheers,
      Pete
