fagito
I try to install games to Xbox . Dvd2xbox wouldn't launch so I connected the console to my PC to transfer the files and reinstall the dvd2xbox application. Transfer is normal no issues by nothing starts . Neither the HDD ready games I had and most the dvd2xbox . I tried music videos and work perfect every time . Tried to transfer other dashboards like unx emustastion xbmc and all work fine. The issues are always with games and dvd2xbox application . I downloaded "HDD ready" from an archive to further test if maybe my files are bad but same. Tested different versions of dvd2xbox same . In all launchers it just goes black and I have to reboot Edited May 23, 2024 by fagito Further info
NokSueCow
I would install XBMC4Gamers and use its downloader to download what you want, dvd2xbox is on there. HDD Ready games are known to be buggy, don't rely on them 100%. Redump style iso's are the best, and can be found on Archive. You can trim/scrub them using Repackinator to save space, and still contain all necessary game files. Dvd2xbox acl patching removes files to save space, but sometimes causes issues with Insignia, from what I've heard. Emustation has a downloader as well, if you prefer to just use it. I haven't been able to reliably connect xbmc /4gamers/emustastion to the internet so far and haven't tried to fix it so maybe I ll give it a try. Wouldn't be inconsistent if the game source is simply bad? I tried 3 4 different sources for specific games and none worked same with dvd2xbox. And one of them was "tested" and working but not on my console Edited May 23, 2024 by fagito Further info
evilmurdoc
Are you trying to move Games that you have to your box? There are lots of sites out there that still host ISO's that you can DL. It's strange that you haven't been able to connect to the internet via Emustation. Are you setting an IP on your XBOX or doing DHCP?
HDShadow
Did the OP mess around with the DVD2Xbox skin by any chance? There is at least one skin when selected that crashes DVD2Xbox. I believe some of the other Settings options have 'issues' too so the best thing is not to change anything just always use its default settings. You'll need to delete the DVD2Xbox game save (both E:\UDATA and TDATA probably) and clear E:\Cache if present. That last thing is probably not necessary but I'd do it anyway and also go to X, Y and Z and delete any content of the folders which is DVD2Xbox related. In fact delete everything in those folders. It won't do any harm as they're temporary files but the next time you boot any app, emulator or game that writes to X, Y or Z it will take longer than usual the first time after clearing the content. Reboot the Xbox and DVD2Xbox should launch OK. Just deleting the game save should return DVD2Xbox back to the default skin but if it doesn't then you may also have to delete the whole DVD2Xbox folder and reinstall a fresh copy. MadMartigan
Can you post a picture of the folders and then inside one of the folders for one of your games please?

The dvd2xbox I had simply stopped working without me having done anything (tho maybe someone else messed with it ). I deleted it and installed the last version and some older ones and nothing. I cleared the save files through Xbox but I haven't checked through ftp maybe there are left over files or something. I ll check today. XYZ folders are empty but I haven't checked the cache .. didn't know there is a way to clear it so i ll take a look for this too. Last copies of the dvd2xbox had only the project mayhem lll skin Thank you every much!!

Nothing happeni and I can't ftp either through emustastion. The connection appears but has zero speed on my laptop. And the ftp name now shows the (1/1) None for some reason . Same issues with xbmc and xbmc4gamers. EvoX connects fine and I use it for ftp with zero issues .

Its possible that you could have a dodgy/dying ethernet port. I have one console that will not connect to the net at all due to a dead port. I will try and replace it one day
HDShadow
If you cleared the DVD2Xbox UDATA and any TDATA files on the Xbox via the UnleashX or XBMC file manager ie. deleted the whole 'game' save then that would have most likely done the trick if it was a DVD2Xbox settings problem. E:\Cache can just be deleted without any trouble, it will regenerate the next time it is needed. I've never been sure what is stored there but it always seems to reappear after a gaming session or using apps etc. I'd suggest now deleting DVD2Xbox entirely, then wipe its UDATA and TDATA 'game' saves, wipe E:\Cache and any content in X, Y and Z. Shut down the Xbox, restart and then do a fresh install of DVD2Xbox v7.8 or whatever the last version is. If that doesn't work then.....................I'm stumped. You're using FTP to get it to the Xbox, yes? Any chance you're anti-virus or anti-malware is interfering with it and some of its files are not being transferred? Do you have a working Xbox friendly flash drive you could use to transfer it instead?

The ftp works fine I use a secondary laptop with no antivirus and malware protection cause I indeed had issues with that before but now everything works perfectly and pretty fast . last time tried to copy a game from the console delete it and transfer back and it worked fine so it might be indeed something with cache and save files . XYZ folders are empty .
HDShadow
Last thought - after wiping the existing installation etc don't install DVD2Xbox directly by FTP. FTP it in its zipped folder, disconnecting the network connection afterwards ie. unplug the ethernet cable. Then unpack the folder on the Xbox and install it to your applications folder using the File Manager. UnleashX will unpack Zip and RAR if you use the WHITE button context menu option. XBMC's File Manager will do the same but it does it as part of the copying process; it opens the Zip or RAR folder in the manager and you simply copy the contents to wherever and it unpacks them at the same time. BTW make sure with the install that DVD2Xbox is in a single level folder. It should be, depending on the chosen location/name E:\Apps\DVD2Xbox\content. Not E:\Apps\DVD2Xbox\DVD2Xbox\content. Hope my suggestions work. If not let's hope somebody here has some new ideas about what the problem might be.

Thanks for your help! . I did that folder mistake with emustastion once but it works if you start it through the file manager. I ll give a try to all these suggestions and update you all if something works . Otherwise I ll buy another Xbox to check there if everything works

Cause I tried everything and still nothing. 3 different versions deleting everything clearing cache and reinstalling everything.. can someone send me something that definitely works just to test if is my bad luck and got like 10 corrupt downloads? Edit ( one download had a MakePPF3 . Exe .. what's that exactly? Cause it flashes something and seems to not so something) Edited May 27, 2024 by fagito
HDShadow
Quote Does deleting the save files through save Manager or msdash delete all u data tdata files ? I don't trust the UnleashX Game Save Manager; UX v584 in particular has an issue with game saves on memory cards or other storage media in that it does not display the actual games saves, just the parent one. So what I do to be 100% sure I've cleaned both UDATA and TDATA for any particular game or app is use the UX File Manager instead. Identify the save folder ID, in this case DVD2Xbox, from the Game Saves Manager then use that in the File Manager to find it in E:\UDATA and its sister E:\TDATA folders. Deleting those in the File Manager ensures that both have been erased.
