Help restoring flubber intro

Howdy! Long time follower of the forums and this is my first post ever on the site. Finally got me a modded original NTSC Xbox from eBay after years of not owning one. Loving it! Mostly playing Halo2 on XLinkKai. My only issue with it is that who ever modded it and sold it to me on eBay removed the iconic classic flubber intro boot, all it has is just this blame and dull blue Xbox logo during boot and nothing else. Looking to see if there is anyway I can get the flubber screen back? I know it's something to do with the BIOS, just haven't found any leads in what to do and all the information i used to frequent back in the day on isozone is gone and anything I find is obscure with no clear information or instructions and I'm afraid to mess anything up with out some kind guidance on the procedure. I'd really appreciate the help or any kind lead. Thanks in advance!

Any idea what hardmod or bios it is? Does it say anything during the x logo screen? Top left? Bottom?

Oh, and which dashboard is loading? I ask to see if you can browse your C partition and look for a config file to edit.

if your box is running on one of the custom bioses just check the bios config file, if you see an option in it for the flubber turned off, well there you go

Hi! Thanks for the reply, it's just a blue Xbox logo with nothing else. It loads up Unleashed X dash. And I'll add the pic inside the C folder.

Is evox the bios? I checks the config file but I really don't know what I'm looking for. Didn't say anything about boot screen

I think it's for the evolutionx dashboard, which isn't being used. I could be wrong though. If nobody answers by tomorrow, I'll check in the morning.

Thank you! Someone mentioned in the comments that it's evox now I just gotta figure out what to do w that info.

maybe try looking here? not sure if that is exactly the way. I don't use evox and I recommend you flash cerbios instead. very easy to change flubber with that bios.

there is probably a folder somewhere that you place the boot animation in.

Sweet! I truly appreciate it!  Also I have no idea how to flash which is why just bought a modded Xbox instead. U mentioned it would be easier but do I need any special tools or cables to do this? Not really trying to buy anything to fix this lol. Thanks in advance.

you shouldn't need anything to flash cerbios assuming you have a flashable chip. Do you know what chip you have? probably a cheapo Aladdin chip if it came with evox but even those can be flashable. If your Xbox is is a 1.0-1.4 you can even just flash TSOP but all this depends on what hardware you are working with. Can't help really any further without knowing more information.

No chip installed on the motherboard. Also tried to use the ev tool but there is no boot folder or .md file to use on any of the folders in the drive . I'm about to just give up to be honest, this shouldn't be this complicated lmao, I'm more of a PS2 mod expert n im totally lost w this. Also is there a good guide to flashing cerbios that you recommend?

It's TSOP flashed. You need to use a TSOP kit...

Just for shits and giggles, identify your Xbox version with the googleable guides online, and see if you can tell if the TSOP write-enable solder points are soldered.

What you have there looks like evox from the ogxbox dvd here from the forum. The boot animation is specially deactivated to speed up the boot.

 

what you can do is download an evox and edit it with evtool. Or, what's even easier, download Cerbios and flash it. Then you put the corresponding “boot animations folder” on the HDD and you can easily change the animation with it.

It's says Xbox version 1.0

Okay, so the ini file is for the bios, not the dash. I was wondering. I agree that he should use Cerbios. If nothing else, the config file is painless and the boot animation will not only be back, but BADASS.  @Fancymcfancington

Thanks! I really appreciate the response. Oh wow so it disabled from the git go? I mean I've timed the load speed from my friends Xbox n it's honestly that much of a speed up. Idk to each it's own.

Is it possible to get a link on a tutorial to flashing to ceribios? Or perhaps a video you recommend that I can look up? Thanks in advance

Thanks for looking out! So so far my best bet is to get cerbios installed! Just gotta find a guide n I guess I'm good to go. Is this something I have to burn on dvd or can I load from HDD?

where can I download "an evox"? Also is cerbios something I need to burn into a DVD? I can't seem to find an iso for it . Or can I just install it on my hdd n run it from there? Thanks you in advance.

Cerbios is a very small bin file. The best thing to do is ftp it over or burn it to disc and then copy it to the bios directory on C, which you can create if it doesn't already exist. Then run XBlast and flash, which I believe you can do if you've booted from the TSOP. But whichever method was used to boot the bios, XBlast will know and you can just flash with it. XBlast may already be present as an executable on the HDD under utilities or applications. If you are unable to find it, I'll post a Google drive link later today.

Gotcha! Downloaded Cerbios but was only able to find BETA V2.2.0. It came with multiple files. Called UDMA4,UDMA4 and one just called hybrid v2.2.20 BETA. Which should I use? Also no xblast on the machine under apps. Just a DVD player n some emulators. Thanks again for the help. If its to much trouble u can just point me to where to download it n I'll get it myself here shortly.

 

 

Edited: ok so I got xblast n was able to install cerbios. But I still don't have flubber screen n the blue Xbox logo is now a cerebus lol. How do I edit the boot stuff now?
