KpCollins
Hello I'm having an issue successfully flashing a split Tsop using the xblast lite modchip. I've albeit believe I've successfully soldered d0, a15 and A19 to the modchip. I can see the split in xblast os, I can boot either split but it currently has a 1mb cerbios 2.02 on there. I can boot either bank from the modchip. My issue is with tsop_m7, I flash this to the 256k bank of the modchip and proceed to boot with hexen inserted that boots off the other bios. I get no display and a solid green lights, eventually the Xbox power cycles back to xblast os. I've also tried setting the front switches to boot the 256k bank on power on same issue but it'll power cycle every minute or 2. I've tried setting xblast os to boot bank 2 with the power button. Same issue The option "force tsop recovery" has been set to both tsop banks - no change I've also tried tsop_m7 on the 512k xblast lite bank - same issue I'm stuck, not sure what to try next with the exception of shortening the a15 wire as I know I gave it too much ( approx 8 - 10 cm) but would rather not mess around with it if it's fine. Thanks for reading, any help is appreciated Edited June 22, 2023 by KpCollins
KpCollins
Added a pic of my soldering, the lpc isn't the greatest but that's not given me an issue, there's no solder balls just excess solder. I've also tested alternative a15 and A19 points on the motherboard with a multimeter and the same points on the chip, both give indication of continuity I'm going to close it up as I'm starting to think this is not related to the internals anymore I'm correct in saying that if I was to flash Indbios 256k onto the 1mb tsop with xblast it'll fill the chip 4 times so there's no corruption? Same goes if I wanted to experiment with using the original ms bios on there too? Locking a stock HDD with ms dash beforehand. I would try to erase the TSOP entirely then reflash these again. Why are you using any bios except Cerbios anyway? Not a criticism really, I'm actually asking out of genuine curiosity. Oh and why did you put the 1MB version on your TSOP? If you have control of your whole TSOP in XBlast, it would serve no purpose.
KpCollins
I did it just to do it, no real reason. Just because I wanted to tinker tbh However no, I mean a sorta non bios..bios that allows this function with the xblast lite. It is tsop_m7.bin It's supposed to do something with the boot sequence to allow the mod chip access to the Tsop for recovery purposes or half splitting a 1mb tsop chip as I'm trying. This is the guide I've followed https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NdVK8I-BE-ccpVvW9o863IeFBPOvGsZkBfUSSP5U1yo/ Again I'm purely doing this for fun, I may have titan, cerbios, Ind and x2 so I can tinker with those too because with a recovery option on all 4 banks I should have no worries...if I can get the recovery method working. I must be missing something trivial Edit: I'm right in thinking if I flash a 256k bios to a 1mb tsop chip with xblast xbe not xblast is it should replicate the bios 4 times across the chip? This would ease some worry about other bios to use as evoxm8 and x2 when on the tsop don't work ( from extensive research ) Cerbios possibly the same? I'm capable of flashing the tsop back to stock if I can without worries and I'll use a stock HDD that I'll softmod and lock or lock then softmod which ever. dtomcat
I believe you have to create the 1mb bios image. I don’t think flashing a 256 to the chip will automatically fill the full 1m

The tsop_m7 BIOS will not work with all BIOSes that you attempt to do a TSOP recovery/reflash. From your experience, it seems like CerBIOS is one of them. 1

KpCollins
Thank you. My last question would just be, xblast xbe, not the xblast os on the chip. The one I would use to flash the tsop, if I was to flash a 256k bios it would fill the 1mb chip? I may flash it with stock bios and a softmodded HDD then to see what I can do

Come to think of it, this might mean why the chip is getting disabled once I hit the tsop_m7 bios but nothing boots even though it appears to be trying. 4 hours ago, Bowlsnapper said: I need to educate myself on this feature. It's really useful or will be lol if I fathom it. I think I will likely be getting it's stock HDD from storage and flashing the bios chip back to stock then re softmodding and then attempt to split the flash using the recovery method. There's Indbios too, I've read some reports that an earlier version of that worked but since it's a tsop chip and harder to recover I'm going to give it thought before making the next move.
