  1. Hello, I've been lurking around here for a couple days, but haven't found anyone with the same issue so I thought I'd ask. I have a v1.0, never modded, xbox (original and only owner). Last time I used it (about a year ago), it was working great, but when I turned it on the other day, it attempted to boot three times, then started flashing red and orange. I was able to get it to boot after restarting it a few times, and I played through a game for about 5 min (then game froze due to a scratch, I'm pretty sure), but I have not been able to get it to start up again since (just 3 reboots and FOAR). If I hit the disc eject button once it's FOAR, the TV will show the green blob come on screen (it freezes after less than a second), but I'll continue to hear the music that goes with it (haven't left it on long enough to see if it goes to main menu and i can hear the sound of changing menu selection). I've seen a few '3 reboots and FRAG' articles, so I'm curious if this is the same situation, but maybe error colors are different for the earlier xboxes? Based on what I've read so far, I've checked the following: Cleaned the innards of most of the dust (had never opened it up in my 18+ years of ownership) LPC traces are undamaged (even did continuity check for sanity sake) Reseated all connectors Checked PSU voltages -- this was an interesting one, all voltages were correct, except for the power on signal (pin 11/teal wire), which i measured to be be 2.6V, not 3.3V Clock cap wasn't bulging, but it does look like it leaked a little, so i removed that, cleaned the area, but I don't see any damaged traces I'm planning on replacing all the caps on the board as a next step, but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea for something else worth testing to figure out what might be causing the error state. I'm so curious if the 2.6V power on signal is an indicator of anything. Does that get set by the CPU or the PSU? Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions!
  2. Hi Guys, I currently have a 500gb hdd installed in my xbox (v1.2), but I'm planning on installing a 2tb hdd , and I just need some clarification on a couple of issues before I buy the larger hdd. My modchip currently has the X2 4981.06 bios, and when I run XBPartitioner v1.3, it warns me that "LBA48 not found! custom partitions will not work with this BIOS! Update your BIOS to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2". From what I've read, it sounds as though the hdd limit with this bios should be 137gb, however, as mentioned, I already have a 500gb hdd installed. So my question is, do I actually need to update the bios in order to install a 2tb hdd, or will it function correctly with this bios? I realise that updating the bios would be the easiest solution, however, the modchip is an X.B.I.T v1.0 with the external PCB which connects to a PC via USB to flash the bios. The flashing software requires winXP and specific USB host controllers, and so far, I haven't been able to get it work. Thanks in advance.
  3. i dont see any writing on the chip. is there another way to identify?
  4. This may be of interest to some. It saves having to Soft-Mod to flash the TSOP. I know is low quality video but you should get the idea SS Dave Those that can Hard-Mod. Those that can't Soft-Mod.
  5. I found an original xbox. I don't know much about it. It was opened, but I doubt that it was modded. I bought cables, which were lacking. I tried to connect it to my flat panel tv via a composite to HDMI converter. I can see the blue screen on the HDMI channel, and I can see it switch from 720 to 1080p, so I am convinced that is working. I never see anything from the XBOX though. All I get is a flashing green light. I don't have any idea of what's wrong or how to go about fixing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a 1.0 TSOP was done by a friend years ago wanted to put the orgin 2tb image on it so i ran hexen 2018 got the harddrive installed was trying to figure out how to change to 64 bit clusters it said 16 But here were it all went wrong i put the hexen 2019 while browsing the disc went to use the bathroom left my xbox unattended when i came back my 6 year old nephew was holding the controller in his hand. The box ROL was flashing yellow and red and a blue screen (attached a image of the screen the box is stuck on) . i am pretty much a noob when it comes to og xbox. just wondering if it could be fixed or is it toast .. Thanks for any help
  7. I have a xbox. I softmodded then removed softmod. All went well. Softmodded with unleashx and later removed. All was fine. Then yesterday went to softmod with sid. In middle of process or at end xbox shuts down like normal. Then turned back on and now red/green flashing ring and video is not working. Any ideas? I have tried letting the clock reset but made a sure not to leave the console off more than about 5 to 10 minutes. I have left it on all night trying to find a solution. I am worried if I unplug it or power it off much longer it may turn into a brick. Any ideas? I loaded and backed up everything correctly. I have 2 video cables and checked that as well and no dice any help would be appreciated. The video im sure went out with the new softmod install. Not sure why. Any help would be appreciated. Id rather fix than throw it at the wall lol.

    Lba48 Issue

Good day I realise that this subject has been covered before and I am not new to the scene but I haven't messed around with my xbox for years until last night when I finally cloned and upgraded my hard drive to a 320gb drive. Used hexen 2018 disc but now harddrive has lba48 issue therefore I need to update my executer v2 bios. Currently running this at ver 4983.67 the lab on xbox partitioned is ver 0. My xbox is a 2002 model v1.1 pal and I cannot remember where to obtain the latest bios and how to perform the flash. I installed the executer 2 back in the day and 18 years later I've forgotten how to do all this stuff. Age has got the better of me but I'm sure I will understand it if some kind folks could help me out. Yep I do want to put games on the hard drive so my boy can play them more easily. Please assist Thanks in advance Tekxan Oh I'm in South Africa these days but originally from UK

  11. So I tried to Tsop my Original v1.0 Xbox and I think I lifted the traces. Now it tries to boot 3 times and then boots with flashing red and green LEDs. No audio/video. Is there anyway I can fix this? Alternate traces?
  12. Hey all. i hope you can help. My 'Project Xbox' (V1.4) which i generally tinker with has an Aladdin X2 running IND bios. All my other Xbox's are either soft modded or have Xceuter 2 installed. I've never tsop'd a console and was thinking that i should give it a go and move the Aladdin X2 off too one of my 1.6's that has been soft modded. Can i boot to dash, pull the chip and then flash the tsop? Assume i have already bridged the 1.4 mobo ready for a tsop flash? ( This box, like all my others has a failed DVD that doesn't read discs. so need to do all this from the xbox itself) And... what software should i flash with? Thanks heaps
  13. Hi all, I have an X3 modded box that I have been painstakingly adding the Xbox game collection to over to. Last night while testing a few games the screen froze and when I looked at the Xbox I had a flashing red led. I assumed I had overheated for some reason and so I went to bed and left it to cool down. i have just switched it on again and it’s stone cold and still had the flashing red led, also my x3 chip is always disabled. Anybody have any ideas what’s going on? Im going to take it all apart and rebuild it again see if that helps. The last mods I did were to replace the fan with a Noctua one and to replace the thermal paste on the cpu/gpu. This was few days ago and it’s been running fine until now...
  14. I tried to mod my Xbox by doing the solder bridge mod to reflash the bios, I am now getting a flashing eject button red and green, I removed the solder bridges already, I also removed the capacitor for the clock. Any ideas what I can try to fix this?
  15. Hey everyone! So I have a 1.1 xbox and I know that some of the motherboards are different and you may need to soughter different points as a result of that. Can anyone send me details on how the different boards look and what are the proper points to soughter? Help would be appreciated!
  16. Ok guys I've spoke to chaos engineer about this on Reddit a few times now and he guided me the easiest way to fix but it's now troubling me as to WHY it's occuring as it's never before now? Chip 1 and 2 Ones a 2.3b Lite With markings the other is a 2.3b Without ANY markings. 'Will update with Pics later'. Now I can make a 1mb BIOS with x2 5035 and M8Plus and switch between the 2 using the PCBs fine. But when hexen / skaters flashes it only creates 1 BIOS across both banks my guess here is hexen is creating a 1mb and flashing all 4 banks? I've done everything a normal install would do. Boot on bank 1 - Flash Bank 1 with Bios A. BOOT on bank 1 - Switch while on rhen flash bank 2 with BIOS B.. BOOT on bank 1 - Flash with BIOS A Boot on Bank 2 - Flash with BIOS B Each of these methods BOTH leaves whatever was the last bios flashed as the bios on both banks. Bear in mind the switches work FINE IF I make my own bios and flash within EVOX. Also Ind Bios no matter which struggles with these chips with stuttering which can't be changed or helped even with config changes. Yet M8Plus boots so fast it's actually shocking. Especially since both are SATA with 2TB hdd's. One using Startechs adapter one using a VBEXY? and yes I've switched adapters. I've switched 80 pin IDE cables. (ASUS one required 0 mods actually happy even though it's only 18 inches. What's the best course of action. Flash x2 5035 and M8 Plus 67 manually and leave? Both need f:127 g: Enabled IIRC.

  18. I got a system in today from eBay (of course in "Perfect Condition") except when I powered it up it had a Flashing Green Ring / Won't Fully Boot or Read Disc. I opened it up and found that nice dent in the DVD drive. Swapped out the drive and it worked fine. Thanks for the assist Blake!
  19. Only recently ive been looking at this manufacturing proces part where they get the kernel on the motherboard. "our" Blake Clements @OGXbox Admin linked me at facebook to the following url: http://www.ogxbox.com/archive/xboxsecurity.html look at the Modchip part. It states that But I do not know if this is said based on the observation mentioned or based on internal Microsoft or flextronics manufacturing personal. Blake also said that: So, the LPC port was used for programming? A bed of nails (pogo pins) should and probably be used to connect the write enable pins on the motherboard to enable the flash writing of the then onboard tsop. I do not know for sure if this is posible but I rather for now asume it was. because we cant flash tsop today whne the xbox has been booted from LPC (modchip boots can only flash modchip, not the tsop, even of you remove the modchip prior to flashing) Connecting to lpc and connecting the write enable lines using pogopins could be done, altho I dont know how they would write to flash from LPC. the MCPX doesnt allow flash write in a LPC boot right? maybe a unkown mode? anyway, pure onboard tsop writing by connecting to the tsop directly would be a pain, but posible with fine pitched pins. not sure if the board would allow that with the mcpx on the same wires. All logic I can come up with is that MS would send their kernel to the tsop manufactorer and let them preprogram all tsops before soldering. then at the factory MS could use a bed of pogopins and a "recovery disk" to install a newer kernel if they wanted as long as the xbox booted from tsop. any other sources or interviews that claim or verify either side are welcome. movies and pictures of this proces too. most details I know came or will be added to: http://xboxdevwiki.net/Manufacturing_Process
  20. So you got one of these suckers installed in your 1.6 xbox, me too. Change the stock HD for a 500GB one. I got into the xenium os from boot, and loaded retail dashboard to change the clock, spot on. Rebooted back to Xenium, and loaded Evo, and setup my ftp ip, and noticed my hd only registered 129gb,well i was having non of it. So i ftp'd xpartioner 1.3 over, ran it and it told me i needed lba48 version 2, hmmm. Now this part is what i found online after massive searches and swearing bouts. Remember the usb lead you got for softmodding, well your gonna need it again with your flash drive. put your Hexen disk into pc and extract the bios file. The one you need for the 1.6 is (evox.m8plus.v16.fc.137.bin) put this file as is onto your flash drive. Plug drive into xbox, and boot to xenium os. select launch menu, and add new item, pick flash and select your evox file, name it give it a colour, and launch it. Job Done if you get any problem give us a yell.
