  1. Same! Going to run both boxes tonight to see if the freezing issue was due to the sata adapter not fully seated. I’m also running them at udma 6 speeds, so maybe that’s an issue as well.
  2. TSOP with Cerbios. Setup for No-DVD. I’m not using a DVD delete module though as I’ve tapped the dvd port to power the sata adapter connected to the IDE port on the mobo.
  3. Ah sorry. The IDE2SAT25 connects the the motherboard and uses a SATA cable to connect to the drive. I think it just wasn't seated perfectly.
  4. Just wiggled and re-sat the startech ide2sat25 board and it boots again. I'll monitor and see if it happens again.
  5. Sorry. To elaborate, the flashing green ring and black screen happen after the cerbios splash screen comes up. It will either sit on the cerbios dogs or it'll turn black, then the green flashing. Wouldn't that be green / orange for video cable?
  6. Hi all, just finished a cerbios build for a friend. It’s a 1.2 with a 4TB drive. I’m finding that every so often the system will freeze. When I reboot the system, I’ll just have a black screen or sometimes black screen with a sporadic blink of an image onscreen. Then I’ll get a quick green flash on the eject light. Does anyone know what a flashing green light might mean?
  7. But it's like $30 rather than $8 like the one linked above.
  8. It's been discontinued. Not really sure why. I imagine the red startech is still being made because so many xbox modders buy it haha.
  9. Hey, sorry. Missed this. Yeah. It's female. I did go and remove the white mini molex connector and soldered the wires from the DVD power directly to the board. You'd also want a right angled sata cable. Otherwise it would stick up beyond my liking. The startech ide2sat25 is smaller, sits lower, but tough to find.
  10. The only issue with the board linked above is it would get in the way of the DVD drive (If you wanted one installed). Really no point, especially if you cannibalize the dvd power cable like I did. You can always get a DVD delete bracket that holds the DVD door in place. I'm waiting on an etsy order for those as I don't have a 3D printer. The other option would be a slim mod, which I love, but afraid to do. The startech IDE2SAT25 board wouldn't get in the way of any of it. (Not to be confused with the popular red startech board).
  11. You could take it a step further (which I might), and wire the sata connector directly to the power supply getting rid of the molex completely.
  12. I don’t have much info other than that I removed the pins from the “mini” molex connector on the board. Then hard wired the 12v/gnd and 5v/gnd from the dvd port. Can’t say it was my idea. I’ve seen it in a couple Reddit posts. The only reason I removed the connector on the board is that it would be tougher to close with the port sticking straight up as it does. The only thing is, every once in a while xbmc4gamers thinks there’s a disc in the drive. Doesn’t seem to cause any issue with actual gameplay at least in my experience.
  13. So with the board linked above, I’ve flashed cerbios at udma6 just to try it out. It works. Here I have it tapped into the dvd 5v, 12v, & GND. Did the same with the Startech IDE2SAT25 in another box.
  14. Has anyone tried one of these? Plugs into the connector on the motherboard and run a sata cable instead of the 80 wire. Or the startech ide2sat25 is a similar adapter using a sata cable. I have the chenyang in one box, and a startech ide2sat25 coming in the mail for another box. Not sure if they would support udma6, but seem to do fine with udma5. That said, is there a good way to test? Or would it simply not boot if it wasn't compatable with a certain udma?
