hey everyone, i replaced the cap in my 1.6 xbox and also finished the modchip (atleast i hope i did) and before i hooked up the dvd drive and hdd i tried to test it but all it does is come on and then go off and it does it twice and then on the last time it comes on and flashes red and green over and over, the mod chip has a orange light on and i am also attaching some pictures of my wire job let me know if i did something incorrectly EDIT: i looked for a different diagram and found i had done two wires wrong and now it is booting perfectly!

Buddy sent me two OG consoles I had modded for him way back in the day. Both are TSOP flashed. Both had leaky battery clock caps, so they were removed and the boards were cleaned up. Both are running Avalaunch. XBOX #1 is a 1.1 with 1MB TSOP so I went ahead and flashed X2 5035 to it(had 4983,06 prior). No issues with this box, made copy of 160GB hdd, swapped IDE HDD for SATA SSD with adapter, formatted disks, copied files back over, updated apps etc. It boots without any issues and behaves normally. XBOX #2 is a 1.4. It has 4983.06 flashed and has a 250GB IDE drive installed. When I got the box it was fragging so I booted EVOX CD and it appeared that the dashboard xbe was gone. Copied it over again via FTP and it booted fine. Everything seemed to be working(games/apps). Tried to make a backup via Avalaunch FTP and after a few files ava would freeze up. Loaded evox and was able to copy files without any issues. Installed 250GB SSD in this xbox, boot my installer disk and format the partitions. Seems to go ok but the partitions still read 0bytes. Boot again off evox installer disk, it shows all partitions as 0bytes but after about 10-20 seconds they start to populate with size. I am able to FTP files to them once they show up. Reboot, still fragging. Ok, so after all of that BS, I bought another box off eBay. It comes softmodded with 160GB drive. Manage to get it TSOP flashed as well and remove the battery capacitor. Try to install several other hard drives, format, and install, see the same exact issue with the pausing and fragging on boot. Install original drive on either of these two and they work fine. I assume this is hardware, more than likely from the leaking capacitors. I plan on pulling the boards and touching up the solder on all of the components that had electrolyte on them as well as doing another inspection, but not sure if anyone has seen this and found a fix.

whats the latest original xbox dashboard

I've got a little over 100 games that i've FTP'd to my xbox. I downloaded and resized covers to use for icons. I can add them manually to about half of them but once I get so far through the list, UnleashX will restart and then when I go back into the games list some of the ones I've added are gone. Is there a better way to do this? Am I doing something wrong? I'm just kinda puzzled that it's working perfectly for about the first 50 games and then I get this issue

Ok this is really frustrating. The xbox flashes green/red (restarts 3 times). And I can't figure out what I've done wrong here. I felt like the job went really smooth. I have also cut the trace near the xbox chip (so it cannot boot from the xbox's bios anymore, right?). I tried desoldering everything, replacing the wires, removing unused pins, adding them back. Grounding D0 (Even though I cut the trace, I decided to try). What else can I try? This was my precious crystal xbox too, and was excited to get the job done Edit: I tried the Aladdin modchip in a 1.4 Xbox, and it worked just fine there. I also checked continuity on the lpc rebuild, and it seems to be fine. No shorts. Did I get any of the wires wrong?

My Thomson drive is apparently dead even after pot tweaking, it doesn't read. Wondering if there's a market to sell the rest of the parts, or if I should just donate it or something. It's a 1.0 system based on serial number and mfg date. I'm aware of the classifieds section on here but wanted to see if there would even be any interest in something like this before posting there.

Hi, I was wondering about this new dumb newbe question. Do I have to hard mod my original Xbox for me to put in a bigger HD in it? From what I could find on the internet the answer is yes, but I came across other videos that say no. So now I am confused. Also when I soft Mod my xbox the ring not turns green at start up, but when I get the menu it turns yellow? Everything works fine, plays games fine and stuff. Should I be concerned about this? I have a 1.0 Xbox that has the dreaded "Christmas Lights" flashing on the eject button. It tries to boot twice before doing its signature Red and Green flashing. Nothing is displayed on the TV so no codes are provided. It also makes a terrible noise when it fails to boot up. After tearing it down completely, cleaning everything top to bottom, removing the clock capacitor (which did not leak thank god), opening and inspecting the DVD drive then hooking everything back up I'm about 99% sure the condition and noise is being caused by a faulty HDD. My question is, assuming my diagnosis is correct, if I bought a SATA HDD (with the proper cables and converter) and installed an Aladdin XT Plus2 Modchip inside would it bring this Xbox back to life? Again, the theory is that the original HDD took a shat so I'm not worried about the DVD drive or motherboard. If there are any other steps I should take (EXCEPT softmodding and replacing the whole console) please let me know. If you require any other information I can also provide it for you. I have been thinking about doing a mod to allow for the use of a Xbox 360 controller. I used to have a wireless S-controller rip off which worked great but I lost it during moving some time go. I also have the Logitech one, but I really despise it. It just feels wrong and in no way is as good as the s-controller. I do love the 360 controller and use that for my 360 and my Opensuse based media centre. So I would also like to use it on a Xbox. I was thinking of using a Raspberry Pi, a Xbox 360 usb receiver, custom usb connector/output to connect to the Xbox motherboard and connector for auto on/off with the xbox button on the 360. On the Pi I want to load a lightweight Linux with the Xboxdrv driver to take the input of the 360 controllers and translate it to the OG xbox controller output, using some of the code from this same driver which also supports the original xbox controller. A bit worried about lag and my ability to mod the driver code, but seems like an interesting challenge. Any one seeing other challenges or maybe has tried this and found it impossible

Okl I just finished my modded XBOX. I am Running XBMC4Gamers. Currently I have only 3 Apps in my Application folder. DVD2XBOX, UnleashX and XBMC. What are some other useful apps I should get. I am looking for a controller testing app, but I can't find one. Thanks
