Hi all I'm Mark and I've had an old modded OG Xbox for years. Recently I went to add a game I purchased from a second hand store and found my old HDD was full. So after 17 years away from the scene I find myself back modding a 1TB drive I had lying about. Two days later I'm almost there, but I have a couple of questions if thats OK. First - off how do I modify the main menu to link to the emulators I've installed using the iso images ? For the life of me I can't recall where that file is. Secondly XBMC and XBMC4Gamers is not selectable. I couldn't find XBMC as an installer option on the ISO so perhaps thats it - or maybe i need to edit the an ini or cfg file to point to the XBMC executable? Finally - my executer 2 Modchip is shown as protected - frankly apart from only being able to run boring desktop I've got HDD Loader running fine, so this isn't a biggie. I'm sure I'll pick up stuff over time, but if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Cheers Mark.

As we all know the Xcalibur encoder in the 1.6 Xbox, was Microshafts in-house built chip.. No public documentation or anything. I'm wanting to find bits and pieces of info that may be round from old dead forum threads, randome files etc.. Sadly I have no Reverse Engineering and little coding know how to be able to pick a newer Kernel apart, but I am thinking I may be able to dump some info from my 1.6 itself while it's running. So if anyone has any ideas please post here!!

After I modchip my 1.6 Xbox I put a new hdd and prepared it and at the end it opens the xb partitioner and I format my hd in there and all the left space I put it in the F drive which is around 238gb. When I return to the dash it only appears 123 gb. Thanks

Hi all, Been using my OGXbox ever since I bought it in 2003ish, currently used for CoinOps mostly, getting my little lad in to playing some old arcade stuff. Never modded myself, purely a user.

Hi saw this forum and felt like it's worth joining. I have been into modding these consoles for many years as a hobby. I currently own 5 OG xbox's My main xbox is the xbox crystal modded with the 1.5 board replaces with a version 1.1 board, 1tb hdd, and blue leds for the controller ports. it's also running rocky5s Xbmc4gamers. my other consoles are mostly experimental, with one of them being being made for the US market, but some how in the UK, manufactured November 2001 and converted to a 240v PSU, possibly making it one of the oldest still working xboxs here in the UK, also converted to pal. I hope to learn allot from this forum and perhaps share my knowledge also.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone. It has been a while since I modded my OG Xbox, but with the HDMI solutions coming, I felt the need to update the console. My plans are to replace the old IDE drive with a larger SATA one and possibly look into what the best HD bios is that I can get on my Xecuter chip. It has been a while since I originally set this up, but I am definitely glad to see this site and all the info here.

Good day all, long time gaming enthusiast, first time modder here. Love what you all have done to keep the scene alive. I've already learned loads from browsing the forums through Google searches, although I would definitely still like to get a better handle on how everything works from a software perspective. Before Covid struck I was basically a clean slate, not even knowing what common terms like TSOP or kernal meant. While I feel I'm still far from knowledgable about any of this, I've put in a lot of legwork over the last few months to teach myself as much about console modding and repair as I possibly could, not just with Xbox but across all of my consoles. I currently have 4 OGs, a 1.0 that I'm currently working to set up, a 1.0 that's fragging on me, a soft modded 1.6, and a 1.6 who's LPC rebuild I botched that I know have to preform a trace repair on.. I definitely need to invest in some LPC Rebuild boards for next time lol

Hello to everyone on the forums. Still somewhat new to the Xbox modding scene as I only started modding my consoles two years ago but I looking forwarding to learning more about modding the OG Xbox.

i hard modded a 1.4. i have replaced the clock cap. i still have some stuff to finish up on it and i was wondering if there was any reason to replace the 3300uf and 1500uf caps on it? the xbox seems to work fine so, if i did change them, would there be any benefit?

Hello, I am currently getting red and green flickering artifacts on my screen with all games with my Xbox. Not sure what the problem is. I have tried multiple different AV cables, televisions, and games thinking thinking that might have been the problem. But, it seems there is some major graphical error wrong with my Xbox, and googling the problem has not been easy. Does anyone know if there is a fix Thanks, Sam

I had one softmodded xbox for years that started activing up. The dvd drive went bad last year and 2 of my emulators snesx and the other snes one I have that forget the name to right now wouldn't load so I thought the HD was going bad. A 750GB IDE Seagate. But to my luck a new dvd drive and a new emu fixed my issue so I backed up all my data immediatly and then dropped the external and did it all again a few days later. Anyway The 1.6 xbox for the dvd drive I bought had bad caps. So I replaced them and then the Power supply died on me (Ask me no questions about poof puff bad puff of smoke adventures and bye bye IC chip and I'll tell you no lies) . Anyway then I bought another one for parts to fix that and then went down this road. Addicted to buying xboxs on offer up. Somehow now I have 6 xboxs. But this last one I got was $10 and the HD and DVD worked. Then I found my first hard mod chip inside Smart xxv3 no lcd installed but an IR . All the bios file were dead except the original, But I know nothing about a hard mod so its a whole new adventure. Glad to be here with all of you.

Just found my 'Halo Edition' Xbox in the loft, Xecuter 3 chip, Xecuter LCD front panel, 160GB HDD. Fired it up and is working so just updating things for now until I can upgrade the HDD/ribbon cable to load in lots more, clock cap removed but luckily no damage! I also found a black Xbox with an Xecuter 2 chip that I did around the same time! (Must have been 2003/4?) Can't believe how much the X3's control panel versions are going for on the bay!

I am selling my version 1.6 Xbox in a transparent ghost case. It has built in red cold cathodes, a Xerc XE, internally mounted microsoft dvd dongle, and 2TB hard drive. On the hard drive are all NTSC released games, all of the exclusive NTSC-J games, and some of the exclusive PAL games. I have a softmodded xbox and upgraded to a 250GB drive. I used Chimp 261812 - I cloned the C and E drive and selected the option for the F drive to get all unallocated space in the program. Problem is that the F drive only has 123GB ( both C and E have just over 4gb respectively) so I seem to be missing quite a few gigs - any ideas? Thanks
