Just Got a Og Box and the Dvd Drive Is Knackered.

You can reflash a different modified Xbox BIOS to the USER writeable 256KB bank (currently the ALX2+ Blue BIOS). The ALX2+ RED BIOS cannot be overwritten. It is stored in a write-protected section of the flash memory on the modchip. If you want to install a larger than 137GB hard drive in this Xbox, I'd suggest you Flash another BIOS to the USER flashable (currently blue) bank. iND-BiOS 5003.67 or M8plus with the latest LBA48 patch applied set for F and G (partitions 6 and 7). There's an unofficial update for the iND-BiOS 5003.67 release that fixes a couple of HUGE bugs in that release. Attached are the evox M8plus BIOS, the unofficial patched ind-bios and additional tools by Rocky5 along with the official ind-bios 5003.67 and 5004.67 BIOSes and their ind-bios.cfg file that goes in the root folder of the C drive. evox.m8plus.fc.137.bin IND-BIOS 5003 Shutdown+Ram Patched+XBL Enabled.zip iND-BiOS.5003.67.bin iND-BiOS.5004.67.binind-bios.cfg Edit: With the imminent release of Insignia (Xbox Live replacement) - well no telling how long before it's really released but one can hope for sooner than later use the ind-bios 5003 in the attached zip archive. There's a readme.txt file to assist with how to install the dashloader application that's inlcuded with it. -

Looks like the largest hard drive the ALX2+ BIOS supports is 137GBs. Just like the stock MS 5101 Xbox BIOS. It doesn't have LBA48 extensions well not the latest required by XBPartitioner v1.3 to support reading a partition table from the hard drive to override the BIOS's default configuration or possibly 32KB and 64KB cluster sizes for larger than 256GB extended partition sizes. edit: Can't read the top lines on my old CRT TV using composite video to know what version if any of the LBA48 patches are included. This old TV has caught vertical rollover from a couple of BAD capacitors that no longer charge up to kick the scan line back to the top of the screen. Edit 2: The first sentence of this post is not correct. Seems the ALX2+ BIOS may be a modified Evox M7 version with partition 6 and 7 support. LBA48 setting: Partition 6 Takes up to 137GB / Partition 7 Takes Rest. The Evox M7 BIOS does not have the latest LBA48 patch so XBPartitioner v1.3 complains that it does not find LBA48 support. Bad error message really, the BIOS does have LBA48 support just not the latest version. I'm not exactly sure what the difference between the various LBA48 patch versions is that it needs to complain about it. -

There's another line your evox.ini file is missing well there are lots of lines commented out pertaining to flashing a BIOS to the chip. However, this one is really all you need so leave those others commented out for now. Item "Flash BIOS",ID_Flash_Bios Add it to your System Management section of the menu. Upload the BIOSes' dot bin files to C:\BIOS if evoxdash.xbe is installed in the root folder of the C drive. -

The blue version reports kernel version 1.00.5101.01. I haven't tried the Red version yet but I'm ASS_u_ME_ing it's the same kernel version with different color settings applied. -

Thank you. I've been wonder which BIOS they edited to change the text under the big X to ALX2+. I'll flash them to my X3 and find out. That's a horrible skin. It is limited in the useful information it provides. BIOS name but needs to have the Kernel version number as well. Guess it's not all that bad - has more than others but.... -

Either use a text editor to add a line in the System Management section of the menu Item "Backup",ID_Backup or upload the attached evox.ini and reboot the console for the new menu item to appear. evox.ini -
Evoxdash. Not sure of the skin's name though. Edit: Doh! I skipped the answering post. blackbolt_S skin attached: blackbolt_S.rar

The Backup menu item is generally found at System Utils >> Backup. However, the previous owner may have removed that option. Not sure why, I find it an important menu item to have. -

I'd need to see all of the menu options available for your installation of the Evoxdash. The evox.ini file will have them all since they don't all fit on the screen at one time to see them in a screen capture. Attach a copy of evox.ini to a message via the choose files option (or Drag files here paperclip) below the new message entry box or upload it to pastebin.com and add the link to it in another post. -

It may already be saved on the hard drive. Is your Xbox connected to your home network? If so, FTP to the console and look for a C:\Backup folder. Inside there should be several files: bios.bin (backup copy of the BIOS that booted from the modchip) eeprom.bin (important file to save to your PC and a couple other spots for safe keeping in case the HDD drive dies - well not so much so for a hard modded console. The HDD doesn't have to be locked. disk.bin (backup copy of the first 1024 sectors of the hard drive - configuration area) hddinfo.txt hddkey.bin It's the bios.bin file that I'm looking to obtain. Download the file then do another Evoxdash Backup operation to obtain a copy of the RED Boot Backup BIOS after powering on with Power+Eject held for 1-2 seconds. Boot Backup BIOS - preprogrammed with RED BIOS - this BIOS is write protected and always available Press & hold POWER+EJECT buttons for 1-2 seconds Source: https://web.archive.org/web/20040422050302/http://alxmod.0catch.com/diagramr2.html -

When you power on the console by holding the power button for 1-2 seconds, does ALX2+ appear below the big X at the end of the startup animation? If so, I'd like to obtain a copy of the BIOS.BIN file from an Evoxdash Backup. -

ALX2+ Rev 2 (never found info on Rev 4) but I'd say it's similar if not exactly the same method to activate the modchip. See the following installation / usage guide: https://web.archive.org/web/20040422050302/http://alxmod.0catch.com/diagramr2.html Edit: Added the main image from that web page but there's a bit more info shown there than in this one image. -
Should I Be Expecting Issues When Connecting My XBox To My New Tv?
KaosEngineer replied to ProggerPete's topic in Repair
Component video and composite video are two different things. Component has 3 RCA connectors for Y, Pb and Pr, high-definition video output: 480p, 720p or 1080i supported by the Xbox. Composite is standard definition video, 480i, with stereo analog audio which is what your TV says it supports. It uses Yellow (composite video), Red (right analog audio) and White (left analog audio) inputs to the TV via that adapter cable. Make sure that the selected Video source is AV1. -
UnleashX skins use skin.xml to describe their configuration settings. I do not know of any with dot ini files. There were themes for some XBMC skins that changed colors, etc. I'm not sure if they simply used dot ini files for their settings values.

Connects to a bi-directional parallel printer port. PC's use a female DB-25 connector which makes you think it's a serial port but its not. X2BM - X2 BIos Manager software is used to flash the modchip with a BIOS. You need a 25-pin straight-through parallel cable with DB-25 connectors on both ends to connect from the PC to the DB-25 connector on the back of the Xbox. Not a serial cable. A serial cable only has a few of the pins connected in a crossed over configuration.

I believe to make the change persistent across reboots, you need to use the NKPatcher Settings application to modify the softmod's settings. From Rocky5's github.com Xbox Softmodding Tool repository's README.md file: 7.1 Flicker Filter Used to change the blur amount when using 480i and 576i video signals. Disable Off Low Semi Medium Medium Semi High High

The HDD ready version of Burnout 3 on archive.org is missing a few hundred megabytes of files. There is an additional file on there that contains the missing content that needs to be added to the original HDD ready game's content. Search for Burnout 3: Takedown (USA) hang fix.
