Looking for two replacement lasers for Thomson TGM600 disc drives. I found some for about $45 shipped but you can get whole units for about the same. Anyone know where to get a better price?

It could have been done with a TSOP mod. Check the points in the photo and see if you notice any modification or connecting points.

There’s definitely no drilling involved here. You have a couple of options on what you can do it’s up to you to decide which route to take. There is the normal method using the exploitable game save with one of the corresponding games, but as you’ve already mentioned that does require having a compatible usb device, a usb to Xbox cable, and one of the four games necessary. Second method is more frowned upon and is referred to as the hot swapping method. This method lets you use your IDE interface PC or a USB adapter. There are two ways of doing this. This first way can be an absolute bitch to do because you have a 4-5 second window to swap the drive. The most recent method is safer IMO and way easier, eliminating the 4-5 window by triggering an error 12 unlocking your HDD.

Well I was more curious about the Roms being PAL Roms which notoriously run slower than ntsc versions. That’s why there was so much fuss about the NES CLASSIC when it released. For some reason Nintendo chose to use a lot of PAL Roms which ran worse than the North American market was used to. I strictly use the RessurectionExtras set and have zero issue with games or the media.

Any chance you are running PAL/EU Roms and not NTSC roms?

I have several different hard mods and tsop. I’m just doing this one for a buddy that can’t handle a chip. I think I got it figured out. Had 3 corrupt 160GB drives. PC can barely read them and fails to wipe any of them. Rookie mistake on my behalf. I thought they’d all been tested already.

Soft mod sadly

I’m running into the same issue with three different 160GB drives and I’ve seen one or two other posts here recently. Did you use Chimp to install the new drive? Edit: all three of my drives won’t accept any more files after around the 100GB mark and I did 16K clusters.

I’ve used it many times and familiar with how it works. Always helps to try and keep your apps and files in the same directory to avoid these simple issues. Glad you got it working.

You will need to update/Scan the emulators again for the artwork to show.

May as well upgrade to Hexen 2021. It loads much faster and also has a cover.

Are you able to boot from a disc at all?

Everything installed was the most up to date files available. For a fourth time now I decided to reformat and try again. This time went with only F holding all available space which was around 145gb. The 145 is shown in xpartitioner and the file manager. Once again, everything halts at around 110-115GB. This apparently has nothing to do with how the HDD is installed and partitioned. Figure I’ll try another HDD and waste another day of my life. I’m out of ideas at this point. Around the time file stop transferring is when the HDD/Xbox itself starts to act weird. It will go black screen but I can still hear buttons and the usual Dash-restart key combo still works. When I try to delete files from file manager, they won’t delete. Ive never had this happen with any other HDD or Xbox before.

I love my xenium. Unfortunately this is the soft mod that I’m about to throw in the river. It was working fine until I redid everything after a full format. No clue why it’s being a bitch now.

I just started from scratch and made sure to not skip any steps. I think I figured out what was wrong this time. So far everything is working fine. Now however, I’m running into a fatal error after installing and attempting to load Artwork installer from the downloader. I tried a reinstall and nothing has changed. I’m so done with this damn soft mod.
