  1. Like I said this does nothing to the install process. When he did eject the disc it would continue to the process. So he could leave the disc in for years and play 007 for years and when he starts the Xbox up without the disc it would continue and install the softmod. As at that stage in the process the Xbox is already softmodded, I just do some cleanup and file processing at stage 2. (If it weren’t softmodded I couldn’t do stage 2) so something else has gone wrong here, either the files he built weren’t built properly or the save wasn't transferred correctly to the Xbox. Unfortunately UnleashX doesn’t care if a file is missing or not there, it will just make a folder if the file doesn’t exist and there is nothing I can do about it other than the end user making sure the source built properly or do what I have been saying and even put on my github. USE THE PREBUILT FILES. (I build the files and upload them so you the user don’t need to)

  2. In another forum thread here at OGXbox.com @Rocky5 stated where trainers go: trainers also go in Q:\system\trainers (fixed background and text color) @nikeymikey asked: Some of my dvd covers have a white controller logo in the top left corner, anyone know what it is? Is it something to do with trainers? I have some games with the little grey circle logo, i thought that was for trainers as it goes yellow when the trainer is activated.... (fixed background and text color) @Rocky5 replied: Controller means you have played the game. Little grey circle is the trainer found icon, it turn yellow when you enable a trainer. Both can be disabled in the skin settings > toggles menu (fixed background and text color)

  3. First open up the Xbox and look at the capacitors. See if the top of the caps are swelled. They should be flat and not swelled like the first picture. They should look like the second picture. The three next to the heatsink are the prime suspects. But I would check them all since you have it out.

  4. UPDATE - Well against all advice I decided to retrobrite my console and I'm only updating this post to give hope to someone else who may be in the position I was in. I live in UK and used the Bblonde and cling film method, I did a test piece on the bottom of the case a few days ago and had no issues so I went all in and the results are amazing.

  5. There is also this and it's dirt cheap to make almost as cheap as the 3 wire to serial port reader depicted in the 1st post. https://github.com/Ryzee119/ArduinoProm Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

  6. If the MB has a TSOP chip it is not a v1.6. Those ST ones often are faded to the point you can barely make out what they are. But if you know they're not Winbond or Sharp, I've never seen either of those being difficult to identify, then that's all you really need to know.

  7. You should be right to unsolder that mod chip and solder in a new chip and be up and running You could use a Aladdin or a Open Xenium without any problems and both can have the BIOS updated as the chip that is there can not be updated and you are limited to a max HDD of 137 gig If you are fitting a Aladdin chip I suggest you link the BT on the modchip to pin 2 (GND) to male the chip always active. 8. Whether the HDD is or is not locked is almost certainly irrelevant. If the chip is working the lock status shouldn't make any difference and any discs, original retail games discs or burned ones (DVD-R) should cold boot on a chipped machine, its pretty much what it is there for as prtscn has already said. The chip or its connections are most likely broken. Whether it is a 'simple' repair like SS_Dave says it could be or not who knows but I think it would be a sensible idea to replace that horror with an Aladdin type or better. We get so many posts here and on other Xbox forums urging users to 'update' or 'upgrade' their softmods or dashboards for various and not always good reasons. But this looks like an obvious candidate for a chip upgrade particularly in the circumstances.
