  1. Past hour
  2. I forgot to mention, when Cerbios gets updates, he just needs to rename them to CerbiosBFM.bin and place it in C\Cerbios loader. The ini still goes in C.
  3. I apologize for deviating a bit, but why is your friend so opposed to hardmodding?
  4. Have him delete his entire C and replace it with this. Also, overwrite his existing MS Dash located in E\Apps with the one in the link. Make sure he uses the correct kernel fonts for his v1.6, 5838 I'm guessing. The fonts are located in C\Cerbios loader\fonts. Have him copy the correct font and overwrite the existing one in C\xodash\xbox.xtf. Rename K.1.0.5838.1.xtf to xbox.xtf, overwriting the default one. This is what Rocky told me to do, and it works great. Crimson Skies wont load though, maybe some other games, not sure. It's a known bug. I started with Rocky's v1.2.1, and then moved hdd to FatX to install C and MS Dash. The Cerbios logo doesn't appear, just the normal blubber, and a secondary bootanim, if you reinstall the bootanim folder and path it in Cerbios Tool or ini. UDMA speeds work in BFM, as do >2TB. I would keep the cerbios bootanim uninstalled unless he just thinks it's cool. It adds too much time to IGR. The XMV Player bootanim is pretty cool, though. There are tons on Pandora. I prefer the Dreamcast 1080p one, but I think I found it on emuxtras repo. When he loads Dashloader Customizer, it will say Hardmod Detected, but that's to be expected.

  6. The Origins image does NOT have an MS Dashboard... not a usable one anyway. That is why you keep getting kicked back to the regular dash. What I did with my master image based on Origins is I ran the OGXbox installer disc and wiped C and E. Then I "Set Up" the C and E partitions, installing XBMC as a dash. The installer installs the MS dash and a classic "C" structure as part of the "Setup" process. I added all the games and apps in XBMC after linking the sources in the UI and I then had a perfectly usable setup with all the games and homebrew on F and G. It is what Origins SHOULD have been from the beginning. I highly suggest you do this. Origins has no room on C for the full MS dash anyway so it can't be added by dragging and dropping. Once I did this, I was able to set up Insignia and it works perfectly.
  7. I think you're wanting to go through the whole process of doing what a retail developer did to make a retail disc, probably because it's kinda' cool and not necessarily because it will make money. This going to be extremely difficult to do, as a practical matter. If following the process exactly, you will need to press discs that use the organic dye and I think those are not easy to find or to burn. There is also the fact that these discs are optimized, mainly using emulators, in order to organize the ISO image for the least amount of seeking possible. I know what you're trying to do, but I think that it is not practical to try to be a game studio this late in the console's life, especially since the software is going to be easily distributable to any person who acquires it. I would do as what's been suggested and release it either here or on a website of yours and maybe ask for a donation for your work and in recognition of your efforts. However, there is homebrew out there that is seriously impressive and it has always been free, so I think that making money off of it would prove to be either very difficult or impossible... unless you have a REEEEEALY good game here. @Meerjel01
  8. I know pretty much how it would workx just not sure how I would implement getting it to work, As I said I have a mate who insists on NOT having chip in his 1.6 but keeps asking about running cerbios. Thats the only reason I’m even asking this question. All my consoles have hard mods and run cerbios already.
  9. boot times will be longers since it will need to boot og bios, softmod and then cerbio bios. softmod supports xiso mounting, but i had significally inferior IGR boot times. So i use it on few games that cannot be patched against long file names by brute forcing hexedit. Not sure about CCI what penalty is for IGR.
  10. I can access xboxdash.xbe from c no problem but whenever i try to go to network settings it takes me back to xbmc dash
  11. crt master race how do you acess ms dashboard? possibly c partition doesnt have ms dashboard files. using file manager look for xboxdash.xbe in c partition
  12. I recently bought hardmodded xbox (aladdin xt) and it has xbmc origin dashboard. I want use inisgnia to play online but whenever i try to access network setting from original dash it takes me back to xbmc dash. Also, i read somewhere it's best to change to xbmc4. Should I do it and how (I'm new to modded xbox original)
  13. Ok, so usually I avoid softmod as like the plague. However, my mate has a 1.6 that he just refuses to let me add a chip too. He has a working rocky5 setup but keeps asking about using Cerbios. I keep telling him the easiest way is with a chip but back to point one lol. Is there a way to make Rocky’s softmod load into the BFM Cerbios? I think it’s possible but with th shadow c etc I’m not 100% about how it would be done. As I said softmods ain’t my usual thing Any ideas from any of you softmod gurus??
  14. >Making retail ready disks I don't think you know just how expensive pressed runs are, especially when it'll have to be a batch of at least a 1000, probably more. Which still ignores that the signed boot part of retail disks is likely still MS property. Not saying you can't, just that there's gonna be some serious hurdles.
  15. I'm gonna leave this up here for a week before I put it on eBay.
  16. That's awesome, thanks for the script Chris. Works perfect.
  17. Late reply but I found this script to help automate renaming with Bulk Rename Utility. shout outs to Chrisrlink, check this post to find the attached BRU script
  18. Thanks, all sounds pretty straight forward, pretty easy the Xenium I guess as I can have a bunch of different bios's. It's not going to mess with the data on my hard drive in the process?
  19. Either way, slowest to highest speed work your way up or try the fastest if it doesn't work go down to the next lower UDMA mode.
  20. I'm not sure what brand it is, it's been in there for years, doesn't have a brand written on it, I have an 80-wire cable on there. So I should try the fastest one and see if it works, and work my way down?
  21. Which IDE-to-SATA adapter are you using? The various UDMAn (n=4 and 5) releases are for higher maximum data transfer rates across the IDE bus: UDMA2 = 33.3MB/s UDMA3 = 44.4MB/s UDMA4 = 66.7MB/s UDMA5 = 100MB/s For anything higher than UDMA2, you need to swap out the original 40-wire 40-pin IDE cable for an 80-wire 40-pin high-speed cable. Edit: fixed max data transfer rates for the various UDMA modes. Source: UDMA - Wikipedia
