rikoos
Hi, I have a 160GB IDE drive in use but i want to swap it for a bigger 2TB HDD. I bought 2 cheap IDE/SATA converters from Ali (different brands) but both keep failing. Anybody a suggestion for a good one? Thank you! Kalpi
2nding the startech, look for the one with the red pcb. I've used it with sata hdds up to 8tb & some ssds, using either the Titan or Cerbios bios.
sweetdarkdestiny
All of them have the Marvel conroller chip and the first 4 are 100% the same adapters. The Delock 61702 is EOL but still some around on eBay & Co.

zatchbot
Make sure you swap your IDE cable to an 80 wire cable as well. Adapters don't play nice with stick 40 wire cables, in my experience. Pretty much any 2 port IDE cable will work, but if you want a drop in replacement Xenium Mods makes a custom 80 wire that matches the OEM size and connector lay out. A bit more pricey but looks great if your case is clear. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195346956559?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HEkCYLO_QvK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=K2EhkXBLRdu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Edited October 18, 2022 by zatchbot Spelling & Clarity
Lamprey
Just wanted to second what @zatchbot said about the cable. I didn't know about that initially and had some weird issues with the Startech adapter. This is the one I picked up and it has been working without issues. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IDF0JC/
rikoos
i now have a 1TB HDD installed and it is working Thank you guys again!! BUT Just a extra question on this: Is every sata HDD compatible? The one i use now is "just" but i want to install a bigger one. I'm thinking of installing a Seagate Barracuda Compute 3,5" 4TB should this be a working combination? Isnt there a hardware limit like there is on a PS3 HDD size (2 TB)? They are working on a dual HDD bios that could support 32 TB
