Black Screen On Boot

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I softmodded my xbox and decided to try the tsop mod.

Followed a guide up untill the part where it had me burn a hexen cd. Instead I found this Please login or register to see this link.

Unfortunately trying to skip burning a DVD has resulted in my xbox booting to a black screen.

I see "loading ind-bios" before the screen goes black.

Looking online I found some suggestions to boot into hexen disc (so I ended up having to burn it anyways) then run the clear files option.

None of this worked though.

Any ideas on what I can do to get my dashboard back?

Chris

EDIT: I decided to stop following instructions and experiment with the options in hexen.

I ended up getting a dashboard installed that works!

Turned out I had a winbond chip so I needed to do things differently.

So I guess I now have a tsop modded system? Is there anyways to check?

I much preferred the rocky5 softmod dash though, can I get that back somehow or do I loose it because I am tsop moded now?

Have you tried to boot the Xbox the from the DVD you have made.

The Bios you flashed is probably looking for the boot file in a different location.

You cant have a Soft-Mod and a Hard-Mod/Re-flashed TSOP running at the same time.

You can install a dash from Hexen disk.

It's no good asking me about Soft-Mods as I don't do them and I don.t use the Hexen Disk as well.

Ok well I am all good now I think.

I installed a new HDD, used the hexen disk to format and partition it.

I grabbed rocky5 softmod skins and added them.

Any idea how I get rid of these annoying passcodes on everything?

Is it possible to edit the home screen options?

Thanks,

Chris

Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool dashboard is UnleashX with a custom skin he made.  Rocky5 has released the skins that you can install to use instead of the default's available within the UnleashX dashboard.

Google drive link to download the Please login or register to see this link. archive.  Upload the extracted content to UnleashX's skins subfolder (e.g., C:\Dashboards\UnleashX\skins)

You can remove the passwords and passcodes by editing UnleashX's config.xml file.

Look for the <List> tag attributes passcode="<Button combo>" and password="<Password text>"

Download the file via FTP, edit it in a text editor to remove them from the <List> tags, upload the updated config.xml file (overwrite the current file) then reboot.

If you mean those on the DVD you burned, you will need to extract the files from the XISO disc image using Qwix or other XISO extraction/creation tool, edit the config.xml file to remove them, create a new XISO disc image and burn it to a new disc.

I always thought that too but it's not quite true.  However, the files, dashboard locations, on the hard drive have to be setup properly for both to work.

Sorry should have said... I am set up with xbmc4gamers now.

Do you happen to know if I can remove the profiles feature of it?

I enabled auto login but removing it completely would be nicer.

I dont like how pressing B on the home screen essentially logs you out and then back in again.

      Hi all

I am a new member, so am not sure if this posting is in the correct place, but any help would be really appreciated.

I bought a modded Xbox with XBMC/Coinops4 on it about 6-7 years ago and then stored it away without really trying it out. In all there are about 5,000 emulated arcade and console games present.

I recently decided to start looking at it properly, and so far it seems to be working fine (on a HD ready LCD) except for the following issues/queries. Although not a technical person I have spent the last 2-3 weeks scouring the internet for information/answers to the below, but have not been able resolve/clarify them.

      1) None of the NES games work, even though all their ROMS are present a folder named "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles".

e.g. The ABADOX.NES Rom is located in "F:\Emulation\Coinop4\Romsconsoles\NES_Abadox.zip".
But whenever I try and run this game I get message "Error Opening D:\Romsconsoles\NES\NES_Abadox.zip ... No such file or directory  PRESS B"

On reading this error message I appreciate that when selecting a NES game, the system appears to be looking in the wrong directory but how do I fix it ?

      2) After much internet searching I found out how to enable the 480p/720p settings by changing PAL to NSTC (and using component cables). On the 720p setting, the XMBC dashboard writing looks far clearer than it did when running in the default PAL 576i setting.
However although all the emulated console/arcade games still look OK, they do not appear to be any sharper/clearer than when using the original PAL setting or when I just use just the 480p setting or even when I simply use a RGB cable. Am I missing something or does the 720p setting only apply to the dashboard and not the actual emulated arcade/console games? This question has really perplexed me !

      3) When running an Amiga game the system usually asks me to load a floppy disc. The Coinops Instruction Manual says that you should press the START button. However this does not work. Any ideas what I should do ? The same issue is also present for some X68000 games.

Thanks in advance for any help/guidance.

This is probably a very easy thing to fix, but I have so far failed to come up with the appropriate search terms in Xbox OG forums such as this one. In some of my games (for example; Spider-Man 2, Tenchu: Return from Darkness and Darkwatch), the game is displayed incorrectly like in the screenshot below. I'm using Rocky5 and didn't have any problems with this before softmodding the console. The video output is through an OSSC (which I used before the softmod as well, without having this issue). I've dabbled with the display options in the softmod settings menu but nothing has made a difference. What am I doing wrong?

Hello, I am new here so apologies if I'm posting this on the wrong forum.  I am currently running a v1.6 Xbox with Rocky5's Softmod (v1.1.7) and XBMC4Gamers and am met with a black screen when booting the game 007: Everything or Nothing from my HDD while using component cables.  My legitimate NTSC copy of the game was ripped to my HDD via dvd2xbox (with ACL processing enabled) and I have enabled Force Progressive video mode via the NKPatcher settings (followed by a reboot).  I have attempted to boot the game while the following resolutions have been enabled on my console:
      480p (y) 720 (y) 1080i (n) 480p (y) 720 (y) 1080i (y) However, neither of these configurations seems to result in the game displaying properly.
If anyone has any troubleshooting ideas, I would be greatly appreciative.  Thank you.
