Will a bad hard drive even with original game disk cause games to not load properly

This is my last post and I will consider replacing the hard drive, but will a bad hard drive cause the game disc to not load properly at all?

 

The only issue I be having is that when I start project Gotham racing two it won’t let me skip, but once it gets to the second part of the intro it’ll freeze until I restart the console and then start the game up again and then it’ll let me skip

 

The in game radio and stuff will also cut out

So I just wanna know y’all opinion that well a bad heart drive cause that’s even though I have the original game disc

Sounds like more of a game issue, but it’s really tough to say. Is the disc scratched at all?

No 

fresh discs 

 

It was doing it before I got the official disc

So its doing it on a retail disc and a burnt iso.   Could be the dvd drive itself, not transferring data fast enough, causing stuttering that glitches the game.   
a simple test would be try another dvd drive in there.

Not stuttering

 

the audio just cutting out lol

By stuttering I mean the data flow stutters which glitches the processes.

Hm idk 

it was doing it without the disc 

 

tested it on xemu and its not a bad rip 

 

So is it the hard drive

As, you seen to think its the hard drive.  A simple test would be to swap the drive and test it again.  If the problem persists then its going to be the ribbon cable or the DVD drive or a main board issue. So you will need to eliminate each in turn.

I would say the answer is yes. I know when I have Halo 2 in my Xbox, I can take the disk out and play the entire first level almost. I also remember hearing about how the Xbox was able to leverage the HDD to do things other consoles couldn't. If the DVD drive reads consistently, I highly doubt it's the issue. New hard disk drives are cheap, might as well hardmod if you can afford it.
