How to add DVD movie ISOs to XBMC4Gamers menu?

I've been in the process of preserving my entire DVD movie collection in ISO format. Coincidentally, I stopped growing my collection about the same time the OG Xbox reached the end of its lifecycle - circa 2006.

I realize this approach probably isn't going to be for everybody, as many have moved on to MKVs and Plex, etc. For me, however.. I'm still chasing that vision I had almost 20 years ago, of having all those movies accessible from a beautiful carousel menu, complete with artwork and synopsis - exactly like we have our games in XBMC4Gamers today!

I'm able to play these movies perfectly from the File Manager already, but I need help understanding how to make them show up in XBMC4Gamers menu, just like if they were game discs. I think I need to create custom XBEs that link to the DVDs main IFO? Maybe there is even a script I can tweak to automate the process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm hoping to leverage some of the current Kodi scripts to help pull in all the artwork and other data. In case that doesn't work out, I'm prepared to do it all by hand. If anyone is already working on something similar and would like to collaborate, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'll be doing about 800 movies myself, and I'm happy to share a complete pack with all the artwork and everything when it's done.

What I have always wanted for years, is a DVD to Divx encoder, or maybe a format less CPU/RAM intensive. I'm actually surprised that this has not been done in all these years. If I could code instead of post bullcrap all the time I would have done so. It's something I very much want, rather than having to convert with a PC application and then move the encoded file over. I mean, I know how to use the main .IFO file, just like the OP, but it would be cool to see :) Not everybody knows how to navigate raw DVD video disc contents.

I dunno if it's that Rocky doesn't WANT to, but rather he was focused on what was in demand. XBMC4Gamers is what the demand turned out. I will say that "Media Center" is a bit of a misnomer, but it is obviously based on XBMC original, is all. I do however concur that it would be cool to focus on the media center aspects of XBMC, as I think they have been largely abandoned. Maybe developers felt like they accomplished all there was to accomplish with the media that could be supported by the console/platform?

In case there was some confusion, I just want to be clear - I'm not asking for any additional features or special encoders. The Xbox is already fully capable of 720x480 DVD playback.

I simply want the ability to have my dumped ISOs show up in the menu. You can manually load them from the File Manager already.

I assume it's simply a matter of creating a DEFAULT.XBE for each movie, linking to its corresponding VIDEO_TS.IFO. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge on the process can provide some guidance. I really appreciate it, thanks.

You can’t use xbe for dvd files (ISO)

You will need to create the correct xml files for the video files menus and then add a button to take you there somewhere in the skin.

XBMC4Gamers is for games, you can instal XBMC4Xbox as an app that loads directly into the video menu so you can watch your dvd files.

I won’t be adding support for video menus etc… as it’s not what the dashboard is designed for. (Even if legacy stuff still exists)
