Do the internal version ;)  way more fun… and by fun I mean PITA

That's what I would prefer, yeah. I also always wanted to do the internal Wifi mod. Just a game adapter hooked up to power and I wanna hook it up to the ethernet jack on the mobo, but wired to the solder points, so that I can plug in ethernet and configure the adapter.

Thank you very much! I may have overlooked that if you hadn't said so. I'm probably gonna need that for the Ryzee HDMI encoder also so it'll serve more than one purpose... if I can even get it to work. I saw it recently around here and figured, hey why not? Had to find an alternate capacitor though. That BOM is getting outdated.

I'm interested in building one also.

I tried doing something like that a few years ago and ran into issues wiring up a wifi router directly to my Xbox's ethernet pins. It was probably due to noise in the signal. If you intend on wiring them straight together, be aware that it might not be as easy as it sounds. More info: https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36812

There was crosstalk from unwrapping the wires for like, 4mm?

It looked like much more than that. No wonder they were so out of spec.

Oh my GOD. I didn't even look. No wonder it didn't work. lol. Yeah I would have the pairs wrapped from point to point and shielded if there were enough room. I have no idea, but maybe the pairs being wrapped is enough to prevent interference.
