About Me

  1. This thread will demonstrate how the xbox jewel can be removed, and in a pair of follow-up posts how a hole for it can be made on the xbox cover, all in a very low-tech manner. I'm not confident enough to call these tutorials, but they may be helpful. First: removing the jewel. I grab a couple feet of dental floss and stuff it under the edge of the jewel with a card or what have you. Then I dribble some rubbing alcohol down there, because in my experience rubbing alcohol acts as a mild solvent on the adhesive pad thingy underneath. Whatever helps. By the way it was another modder, not me, who invented the floss method. I start flossing while keeping the arms of the floss in that letter U shape. I'm going to add more alcohol in a minute and re-position the floss at the other side of the jewel then continue working it. After a while the floss approaches the middle of the jewel and it starts to bind, that's when I add some mineral oil to lubricate everything. Pretty much any type of oil will do though. The whole mess starts to look like this... Getting farther in, the floss wants to bind again despite the oil. I don't want it to snap. I lift one of its arms to a 90 degree angle and slowly work the floss back into action. Eventually the jewel is off. This took maybe 10 minutes.
  2. Hello, I have had a1.4 xbox with a duox modchip (v1) and I'm a little confused about how I can flash it. I bought this xbox pre chipped 15+ years ago and I've never touched anything past keeping exox dashboard updated. I took it out of storage after a good few years, I would guess I've not used it bar the odd nostalgic game session (It's part of a setup in my living room with an OG xbox a 360 and a series x on shelves) in around 10 years so I have no idea what the latest best things are. Also the xbox came with an 80GB hard drive installed. I have purchased a xbox-HDMI adapter (powered by usb) because my TV has 3 hdmi ports and that's it. literally nothing else. This works. I have an issue with my dvd drive in that the band need replacing, can't get more for a another 2 weeks. In the meantime is it possible to flash the chip without a disc? some places seem to say I must have a dvd and others allude to not needing a disk. I've been researching this for hours and just decided to ask on here. it works ok but I didn't flash the bios so I have never done it before. I was looking at increasing the capacity further but may need a bios flash. in avox settings the BIOS is unknown. So in short, what is the "goto" Bios and dashboard nowadays? Is it possible to do without a DVD drive? Could I do it by stripping the xbox DVD drive putting a disk in and reassemble? If I desperately need to? Bit drastic but I can't do anything for a few weeks. A bit of a bonus question. I had a game of FIFA 2003 last night and it played strange. Like it was sped up. Best description is like an emulator running at 1.5-2x speed. Some games don't boot. I don't know where to start with testing it. If anyone has an idea I'd appreciate it. EDIT: So I've backed up using evox. FTPd it to my PC. I noticed a bios folder. It has 3 files "EvolutionX M7 Bios.nfo" "EvoxM7_ef.bin" and "EvoxM7.bin" I can guess which previous version was. Can I just replace them and flash latest bios from evox launcher then?
  3. I've got a 1.6 with good traces that won't power on. If I hold the power button in I can hear the HDD spinning but nothing else happens, no video output, the led's don't light up, nothing.. Before I go about ordering the replacement transistor for the mb, I'd like to test the psu to make sure it's working, and I don't have any other 1.6's around to try it out in. I've been looking around online for 45 mins and can't find anything specific to testing the psu for correct voltage (it's a Delta if that matters, and everything looks flawless on it, no obvious problems.) If anyone can help me out with this, or has another idea of what may be the problem, I'd appreciate it immensely (and yes I have a multimeter handy :P) Cheers, Jim
  4. I've been in the process of preserving my entire DVD movie collection in ISO format. Coincidentally, I stopped growing my collection about the same time the OG Xbox reached the end of its lifecycle - circa 2006. I realize this approach probably isn't going to be for everybody, as many have moved on to MKVs and Plex, etc. For me, however.. I'm still chasing that vision I had almost 20 years ago, of having all those movies accessible from a beautiful carousel menu, complete with artwork and synopsis - exactly like we have our games in XBMC4Gamers today! I'm able to play these movies perfectly from the File Manager already, but I need help understanding how to make them show up in XBMC4Gamers menu, just like if they were game discs. I think I need to create custom XBEs that link to the DVDs main IFO? Maybe there is even a script I can tweak to automate the process? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm hoping to leverage some of the current Kodi scripts to help pull in all the artwork and other data. In case that doesn't work out, I'm prepared to do it all by hand. If anyone is already working on something similar and would like to collaborate, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'll be doing about 800 movies myself, and I'm happy to share a complete pack with all the artwork and everything when it's done.
  5. Hey guys, so anyways I just got nxdk setup already on my windows laptop, but I want to write an emulator for the Xbox badly but how do I go from there? What programming languages does nxdk support? Should I write a basic emulator just to learn sdl2 or port a existing emulator over?
  6. I want to change the hdd of my xbox with an ssd, because the optical drive is not working, but I know that I need the EEPROM to trick the xbox into thinking that the ssd is its original drive, but I dont really know how to do it without installing a custom firmware on the hdd and then be able to use an FTP to get it (the stock firmware doesn't allow the xbox to connect to a pc via ethernet). Then the only other way to do that is "hotswapping" but it requires an old computer with IDE connections but it's a bit difficult to find one. so if there is another way of doing this, let me know to try it Thank you in advance
  7. I create ROM Hack for original xbox game but it require to patch 29 file! Xdelta and others they only patch 1 file *Note my game is HDD rip (files) not iso
  8. Hello, I have a chipped Xbox with all the goodies: FTP access, 2TB hard drive, XBOX4gamers as default, etc... I'm the original owner and I never connected it to Xbox Live! I would like to connect it to Insignia but I believe that my dashboard needs an update... My dashboard version is 4817 How can I install V2 Xbox Live for Insignia? I already have an Insignia registration! THANK YOU! and have a good weekend! Also, my XBOX4gamers version is 1.2.122 and I can FTP to it but when I click the URL downloader updater is says no network access but I'm sure that it's connected to the internet! I just want to update the game trainers! any way to do that manually? Thanks again!
  9. Removing the delay from the window where the game video is running without it blinking when loading every time you make a move, or at least make the video appear before the slider goes down completely
  10. There is a bundle of files and I don't know what to do with them. I have the 007 game for the exploit. Can someone please let me know what I have to do to just make this thing work? And to have bioses of different sizes so that I can flash different sized chips? I would like to flash my overclocked version of Cerbios to any console from a 1.0 to a 1.4... or 1.5 if you think the world is flat. So from one megabyte to 256 kilobytes. @SS_Dave @KaosEngineer @sweetdarkdestiny
  11. Someone gave me an Xbox with an Xecuter2 modchip and the Avalaunch dashboard. It uses Px HD Loader for playing games. I searched around and couldn`t find how to get my iso's / xiso's working (converted) for use with Px HD Loader. The DVD drive isn`t working and the only option in the dashboard seems to be loading / converting from CD / DVD. The Xbox contains and 200GB IDE drive, so I can`t hook it up to my PC, wipe the stuff with Fatxplorer and start over. Any suggestions how to convert? Then I can upload my xiso's through FTP and then convert them on the Xbox.
  12. Fuck the wires and shrinkwrap. That's retarded. I wire up the negative so I can anchor the LED in place with the resistor. MUCH easier to anchor from one hard point instead of between two hard points. I make sure it all fits under and within the metal shielding.
  13. It was hard to get a good image, I think I damaged the board pretty bad. I figured my years of recaping crt's and some smd soldering here and there would make me qualified. I think I might have seriously damaged it beyond my repair abilities, I had such a hard time trying to make that joint (I made the mistake of using flux), any advice on what to do now? worried I might be S.O.L
  14. Hello guys, I tried to change large hard drive by use Chimp application, but show this error message. Could you help me? I am not sure what step is wrong. My process step as below: 1. Console turn-off, plug new hard drive power. (no connect IDE bus) 2.Console turn-on, my console already softmod by hotswapping 3.Run Chimp application 4.Take out DVD IDE bus and plug to new hard drive 5.I saw console show some message, should be OK 6.Go to dialog box, but show this message, "slave device can not be locked" And I check program function, slave device function is disable. By the way, before plug new hard drive, I format by FATXplorer. Any mistake of the procedure? Need you help! thanks so much!
  15. as the title says, I want to change the location of the music in the folder E: \ TDATA \ fffe000 to one of the following partitions F: \ or G: \. Because I installed almost the DLCs and it rest 100mb, and E: has a small storage about 4.8gb. I would like to install my music and listen to it in PGR2. So i ask is there a option to change soundtrack location?? UPDATE:I got it working, its piece of cake , it's just change location inside XBE, and copy the folder TDATA\FFFE0000 in E\ to F\. Thats all. Also i changed the location of XBOX Soundtrack Editor to look directly to F\DATA\FFFE0000. I tested in PGR2,FORZA,GTASA and its working!! Before : After :

  17. Recently I've installed an emulator that couldn't be placed in F: partition (not enough space), so I placed it in E: partition (I know, unproper, it should be for savegames). It runs ok, but only from File Explorer. How can I edit it so it appears on the emulators list (basically how to create a link) ? Of course, can this be done with other games and apps? Will it work both on Evox dash and others (UnleashX, Avalaunch and XBMC) in the same way ?
  18. Hi all, I've been working on a FRAGing v1.1 Xbox, and while I was bridging the TSOP point on the bottom of the board, I accidentally de-soldered the tiny resistor just north of R7R3 in this picture: https://www.biline.ca/X-Box/10under.jpg. As always, by the time I realized it was gone, I couldn't find it anywhere, either on my iron or on my workbench. Dumb question please...how critical is that resistor? I know there likely aren't any redundant parts, but should I replace it, and is there a replacement part I could order? Thank you in advance for your help!

  21. i'm having issues with this newest one and don't care for some of the ui changes. how can i revert the dashboard to the previous version? the xbox is hard modded with an open xenuim chip.
  22. I just need to know the simplest way to use ISOs in Cerbios 2.03R. I guess it has native support? Whatever that really means.
  23. Hey everyone! Not new to the OG Xbox scene, but am new to using OpenXenium chips. I’ve just done an install on my Crystal 1.6 - rebuilt LPC with a Chimeric Systems QSB - and everything is working fine. However, I’m trying to update to the “unofficial” MakeMHz XeniumOS to address the “lines” issue when using component out on a 1.6. When I attempt to use the MakeMHz updater tool, it throws back the error: ”Unknown XeniumOS Detected” The supplier that I got my chip from seems to have loaded the XeniumGold OS 2.3.1 - as when I boot into XeniumOS I have a “Xenium 24k Gold” skin. How would I go about reinstalling XeniumOS 2.3.1 (as per the recommendation on the MakeMHz GitHub) so that I can update to 2.3.5? I’m sure this is a stupid/noob question - but just wanted to be sure so I don’t brick/soft brick the chip. Thanks for the help!
  24. The HD Pack cable had optical, so I know there are traces I can hook up a port to on the motherboard, logically. I swear I saw a guide on this on xbox-scene like, 15 years ago, but no tutorials exist anymore. I will keep looking, but if anybody has the answer, I would appreciate some insight.
