About Me

  1. i tried hot glue but it doesn't stick to rubber. i want to be able to remove the feet again if need be so super glue is out. what would be the best?
  2. Hi all, I have the XBMC4Gamers installed and all the artwork is fine except for a few things that the auto installer can't seem to place. I need to manually install the artwork for the applications, as I think they are in a location where the auto installer doesn't look. Can anyone upload their "_Resource" for apps, homebrew and emulators, so that I can copy them across? I dont have photoshop installed and cannot locate the artwork in the github download that I have picked up. Thanks
  3. Hey everyone, I've never actually owned an original Xbox myself. My uncle had one he got on launch day, but I only ever got to use it when I went to his house. Most of my time playing OG Xbox games has been on either a 360 or Xbox One. I've come here because I have some interesting research to share on the Xbox port of Half-Life 2. HL2 can actually run some custom maps if injected into the files the right way, and I and a few others in the Source engine community are trying to figure out exactly how to make it work. We've got Garry's Mod maps working in Cxbx, so running on hardware is the next step. I've known a bit of the Xbox Scene for a while by lurking on /r/originalxbox, so hopefully I'm not a complete noob.
  4. i've heard of and watched videos of people putting in a sata hdd. there are plenty of 250gb ide hdd's out there so why doo most people swap to sata?
  5. Hello, I'm an XBOX enthusiast, this console still impresses me as much today. I was a member of several French forums, Xavbox, Geux, Xboxhack, ... I have an XBOX Debug Kit, an XBOX Xecuter 3 + X3 Control Panel, an XBOX 360 RGH in a Lian-Li PC-XB01. I signed up here in the hope of realizing my dream, having an XBOX 1.4 GHz, dream that will come true, in a few months. Thank you for this forum dedicated to the XBOX, the queen of the hack
  6. Hi everybody. I recovered my old X from the storage. After some meddling with the HDD, I could put it back to work. Hope everything is OK with everybody. Good modding, and good gaming!
  7. Back into moding xbox again found an old one outdoors in a trash pile. Just checking to see whats new from 2015
  8. Received an Xbox for spares I bought off Ebay. The thing I wanted it for was the working disc drive and all seems OK with that although it is my least favourite Philips VAD6011/21. The Xbox was listed as having error 16 - which it does so I was prepared just to swap out the disc drive but the rest is in pretty good nick, a bit of dirt and fluff on the the MB but all cleanable so I'm now thinking about actually trying to get it working again. But no extra cost so I'm not going to fit a chip or buy/build an eeprom reader (the eeprom of course is unknown) and I've been researching the best way of doing this. Rocky5 in another forum about a year ago posted about using Chimp 261812 on another Xbox and hot-swapping in the error 16 HDD (set to cable select) and using Chimp's Fix Error 16 option. Sounded good until the guy who was asking had trouble getting the HDD either to unlock or be recognised by Chimp. The solution that apparently worked was to use an installer disc instead of Chimp 261812 and actually hot-swap the error 16 HDD in for the main HDD and use HeXEn or whatever to install a softmod on that before swapping it back. Another solution I found suggested hot-swapping to an IDE USB adapter/housing and using either Xplorer360 or XBHDM USB to install a dashboard. I've had 'fun' with that sort of thing before and almost gave up trying to get the hot-swapped HDD to be recognised by Xplorer360 before it actually worked. So what method has worked for anyone else here wanting to fix an error 16 and is there some other, cost free, solution I've overlooked? BTW all the information I have suggests this is a Xbox v1.2: Conexant VE, Philips disc drive, 21st Feb 2003, China but I know there is difficulty distinguishing between the v1.2 and v1.3. I'd like it to be a v1.3 and then I'd have a full house but the evidence and my waters tell me this is a v1.2.
  9. i know that ninja gaiden black had some of the extra content and updates but it didn't have it all. how can i get this content now?
  10. if u have a v1.6 that is connected with a component cable(green, blue and red cables) then u probably know there are a few games that are scrambled if u try to play them in 480p and u have to set the xbox to 480i to unscramble the the picture. here is a simple workaround that i just discovered. 1.power on your xbox and pull the power cord with the system on.(the step may not be needed but it sometimes it) 2. plug your xbox in, hold a controller in one hand and hit the power button with the other, then click in the left and right sticks along with holding down the L and R buttons and hold all 4 buttons until u get to the xbox desktop(make certain the system doesn't have a game in it so it will boot to the desktop). 3. if u did things correctly u should see the screen flicker and go into 480p mode as the desktop is coming up. hit the INFO button on your tv remote to make certain that the display is in 480p mode(and not 480i). 4. make certain the 480p mode is set to YES in the system settings menu and then throw in a game and see if it works. i used fable(non-lost chapters version) and it worked perfectly.
  11. haven't been able to find a vid of it. anyone know of one?
  12. Looking for the homebrew Artwork pack. Someone all ready posted it here... but the link is dead now. Any one can help me ?
  13. Yesterday I ftp'd Conker Live and Reloaded to my Xbox v.1.0 , however the game doesn't boot up, instead it displays a message saying: "there is a problem with your disc, it may be damaged or dirty". I tried patching the game with ACL in DVD2Xbox but nothing happens, I still get the same error. Is there something more I'm not taking in account?
  14. i know there was a trick to reflow the gpu on a redring'ing 360 with a heatgun. would that work on an og xbox that needs the gpu to be reflowed?
  15. Hi Guys I'm getting this issue with my Enter the Matrix game(NTSC). I am using an NTSC-J 1.6 Xbox with an aladin mod chip running M8plus (EvoX). I tried ripping Enter the Matrix to the console and when I play it, I get a black screen with a couple green dots. I then tried to run it straight from the Disc and get the exact same error. I then put the game in my 1.4 softmodded pal xbox and the game loads just fine. Does anyone know why this is? I have attached an image of the blank screen with dots.
  16. i've never seen a youtube vid where the smaller capacitors were replaced, only the bigger ones. do the small ones not go bad?
  17. I've been a casual user/lurker in the Xbox scene since 2003 probably. I've just joined to browse the forums here for any good skins, dashboards, emulator front ends.
  18. Hello i have a xbox with a almost dead hard drive and a dvd drive that works barely. The previous owner performed a tsop very long ago and that's why i believe that i can boot to hexen without the hard drive, also i saw some solder residue on the pads to unlock the bios protection. (Cleaned the old solder and bridged the points again) I have a 1.4 with a Windbond and focus chip, the main problem that i have is that i can't move the options in the Gentoox because my only working controller seems to be a fake controller or at least the original pcb was replaced with a generic one, someone told me on the Xbox-hq forums that i can just drop the bios file on C:/Bios . Can i boot HEXEN and ftp the bios file from there? Also what bios do you recommend? I can't decide beetween evo m8 or iND-BiOS.5004.67 Thanks for your time.
  19. Hi just got the xbox original running again. Forgot about TSOP and all that stuff. Will need to update and upgrade it to a larger HDD. Thanks and will look into it now on this nice forum!
  20. Hi all, I am new to the Xbox modding scene and I just finished bridging my 1.4 Xbox. Next step is to flash the bios but I wanted to run the Xbox Bios Checker, but can't seem to find a download site. Where can I find the latest version of Bios Checker? Thank you.
  21. I'm planning to put in a new hard drive as the 320gb IDE hard drive that I was using has crapped out on me. Now, I'm thinking that I would prefer a 480gb sata ssd as it's more than enough storage for all of my backed up games that I care about playing. Obviously the advantages over a normal sata mechanical hardrive or even IDE is power consumption and noise. But I've seen some advice given that suggests that using a SSD in the Xbox might not be the best idea, as the Xbox OS obviously doesn't have TRIM support, thus eventually causing problems and possible deterioration of the SSD drive. I'm curious to here from people that have used SSD's in their xbox for the long term now. Have you ran into any problems? is this something I should be concerned about?
  22. Hi Guys So I wanted to share what I was recently able to do using xboxhdm23usb. So I softmodded my xbox, then what I did was null my hdd key. After that I backed up my eeprom and dropped it into the xboxhdm23usb folder. I then took out the hdd and connected it to an IDE to usb adapter and then used xboxhdm23usb to unlock the drive. (This was easy because I nulled the key). I then used a program called HDD raw copy tool and was able to make a complete image of the Xbox HDD. I then relocked the drive and put it back in the xbox (Working fine). I then connected up a spare drive and used HDD raw copy tool to clone the image i made back onto the new drive, then used xboxhdm23usb to lock it. I then popped that into the Xbox and it worked as well. I then used xbpartitioner to give the remaining space to the F Drive. The nice thing about this method, is that I now have an image back up of an xbox HDD with a nulled key. So I can easy clone it to a new drive and pop it into any xbox (Provided they nulled the key on that xbox as well). Let me know what you guys think.
  23. Hi Guys So I'm having a bit of an issue FTPing Enter the Matrix to my Xbox. So I have a redump XISO of the game which is more than 7GB. I then extracted the contents and it went down to 4.77GB. I then tried to FTP it over to my console but a few .txt files have a long name that is preventing the game from FTPing over fully. Do you guys perhaps have some advice as to how I can get the game over? I thought of recreating the XISO but that is over the standard DVD size, so I can't burn it. I currently have 2 xbox's, one softmodded with Rocky5 and the other is a 1.6 with an aladin mod chip running Evo X. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
