i don't know where the original is and that samsung belts seem to be slightly too big. anywhere know where i can get a new belt?

i found the new xbox360 dvd belts are a perfect match for the samsung drives on these og xbox's but i haven't found a good one for the thompson. anyone know of one?

Hi, new here. Hope to learn some tricks.

i found some new lasers for phillips drives and bought some. these were brand new because i had to desolder the esd protection solder points on it. i replaced the laser in a drive that would not work at all and now it is working. however, it won't read any disks that have any kind of serious damage. my old samsung and hitachi will play them fine but they have to be almost perfect for my phillips to read them. i have heard about how phillips turn the laser strength down in an attempt to prevent the from reading cd-r disks(fyi, i'm only trying to read official xbox disks). my question is, should i adjust the pots on this new laser so that the laser is stronger? i've heard that will shorten the life of the laser but i'm wondering if they were even turned up high enough in the 1st place?

Greetings! DNA64 (aka viral_dna) and also known as `DNA` on the old #xbox and #xbmc IRC channels where I was an OP and Dev. I joined the scene before the release of the system which I picked up on launch day and immediately began disassembling and dissecting the console. Some of you may remember me, or know me from other scenes, I've been in a great many of them over the last 20+ years. I'm currently involved in the Classics systems that have been recently coming out. But the OG XBOX holds a special place in my heart, in fact, it's the only XBOX that does so. Sadly a great deal of my postings and guides have been lost after some of the best forums out there went under. I look forward to sharing some of my work with you here and possibly creating new guides for those looking for help.

where is the best place to get roms to put on the xbox?

is a mod chip better then softmod.?

Hey all, new to the site I have a 1.0 and 1.6 (not 1.6b) og xbox. The 1.0 is tsop and the 1.6 is softmodded Hoping to learn more from the community

Hey everyone, I purchased a original Xbox off eBay, it looks brand new, and hasn't been opened, all stickers intact. Only issue is when it powers on, red and green flashing led and a error code 12 on screen. Online suggests it's a DVD drive issue, bummer. It looks to be a Xbox 1.6 and has gotten very little use (if any at all, still has a brand new smell to it, spotless inside and out and not a spec of dust) is there anything I could try to fix the system? Could I try recapping the DVD drive board? I hate to buy another drive off eBay, as the only ones I found cost more than the system I got (including shipping), I have a mod chip on the way as well, if that might help Thanks in advance! ~John

Hi there! My name is Jake, I just joined the forums to hopefully gain knowledge but I've been playing the original xbox since it came out. I think I was 10 or so, and I remember opening up my xbox in middle school but I never did anything serious with it. Well in the past year or year and a half I've started collecting the systems, I bought about 10 OG xboxs for cheap off craigslist, facebook, and ebay and Ive got around 30 controllers. Mostly everything works but there's a lot that can be fixed up with soldering and I have never soldered before. I want to start by making a USB adapter out of a DVD receiver and try fixing some of the controller wires. I also picked up 3 huge CRT tvs for free off craigslist and I have a LAN setup ready in my house at all times. I want to eventually softmod and hardmod some of my systems but I've never done any of this before so I turned to the best place for free informantion - the internet. I really need to spend less time on facebook so I'm willing to dedicate myself to this forum.

It just so happens doing the boat load of digging I do on a normal night of nothing, I might have stumbled on the biggest Xbox archive I've seen since ISO zone. Hi all! I think I'm in the right place. First bought this awesome console back in May 2002 as a gift to myself for finishing college (4 years late but I finished!) Became a big video game fan on and off ever since. Having this in 02 made me buy a PS2 as a birthday gift that summer. I'm a Sony and MS game console guy. Just recently picked up my OG Xbox from ebay and now I watched some videos to take it apart. I got a 1.6 and wanted to check how its guts look. I want to post pics to get opinions or a diagnosis from you experst if I should go any further with taking it apart. It's playing fine and hooked up to my 1080p Vizio via HDMI. Hope to talk to some of you and get some direction where to post my pics. Thanks!

Im try to soft mod old xbox v1.6

Hi all. I used to have a modded box like 10 years ago. Just recently picked up another one and am scrambling for faq's and how-to's to relearn. Been digging through the forums for a day now. Does anybody have a "for dummies" writeup to give me a refresher course on the different chips and options, and(more specifically) how to get things set up and working after the chip install as far as bios and dashboards etc?

Hello, found my original xbox 1.4 from back in highschool brought me back to the days when we had parties opening them up and modding them. Did some upgrades then I bought 3 more. Well I need the hexen disk and the site says I need to make 5 posts before I can download it to use on the xboxs unjust took apart and refurb.
