I have a v1.1 that was modded when i bought it, i added an open xenium mod chip and did the 128mb upgrade with xblast on my open xenium. chips are all successful and xblast loads fine, when i add a new bios to my chip and try to boot that bios i get either flashing green light or solid green with no video with every bios other than xblast bios. Xblast boots no issue from ox menu but no other bios will. it either solid green led or flashing green with no video on screen . I have replaced almost every cap on the board and it still does the same thing. any help would be appreciated wont boot stock hdd either booting perfectly to ox menu and xblast but no other is a very weird issue in my experience and this isnt my first mod

i bought this xbox v1.6. it has a problem of turning on for few minutes than turns off, after that it keeps turning on for 2 seconds and than off. i opened up the xbox and immediately saw that the power supply was already worked on and whoever did it, did a very ugly job. the power supply is Delta DPSN-96DP. As seen in picture 1 the big capacitor was changed to 400v solder with wires just lying there, the glue was supposed to hold it but it was only stuck on the capacitor and not on the metal and plastic. the below 2 green caps were changed to with higher voltage. both the big and green caps were old used caps. i changed few caps. in picture 2 the caps marked green are what i changed with new and correct caps. the resistor marked red were changed or something else because their underside show sign of different solder than the original ones on board. are these resistors right? in picture 3 the glue on left looks cut off, is there supposed to be different component here or the one here is right? in picture 4 the area circled red, are these capacitors or resistor? they were either changed or lifted than put back with ugly fat soldering. anyway are these right? lastly the mainboard picture these 5 capacitor under cpu/gpu value is 3300uf 16v while online search says its 3300uf 6.3v, are they replaced too? my problem is xbox turning off after few minutes. i tested 500gb desktop hdd, 1tb laptop hdd and without hdd. 500gb desktop hdd turns on for few minutes than off by itself, after that it turns on for 2 seconds and off. have to give it rest for hours to turn it on again for few minutes and than turns off by itself again. 1tb laptop hdd takes very few tries and most of time with first try it turns on and off by itself but stays on for more minutes the 500gb desktop hdd. without hdd always turns on first try and stays on for 10-20 minutes and off by itself. So its just power supply or the main board caps problem too.

I was trying to boot up my dad's old Xbox, and hooked up the power cable to see if it would turn on. It has one of those old replacement cables that were sent out to prevent fires, the ones with a red RESET button and a yellow TEST button. Whenever I plug the Xbox into a live outlet and press the RESET button, the light blinks and the button pops back up, seemingly no longer powering the Xbox. I asked on the Metal Arms: Glitch in the System Discord server, and someone said that it was likely not a cable issue, but rather the "solder joints" needing to be reflowed. I looked up the process and it seems to be a little too much for me to do on my own, so I was wondering if anyone here thinks this is the issue, and also if there's some well-trusted place I could send it to be repaired.

I bought an Xbox from an excellent technician — a PAL Xbox with a hardmod, Cerbios BIOS, XBMC, SATA adapter, and a 500GB HDD. I uploaded 4 games via FTP. Two of them work perfectly, while two result in a black screen. All these files run perfectly on another Xbox with an EvoX BIOS from the same technician and an IDE hard drive. The problematic games are Thief: Deadly Shadows (2.5 GB) and Curse: The Eye of Isis (500 MB). They appear in the regular XBMC menu and in dvd2xbox. These are PAL versions, and I’ve tried launching them in PAL, PAL-60, and NTSC modes — always a black screen. I’ve re-uploaded the games several times, re-extracted the files, ensured the file names are short and without special characters, and FileZilla confirms that everything is successfully transferred. The games are placed in the F folder alongside other games preinstalled on the Xbox. I’ve also tried changing the UDMA speed — nothing works. What could be causing this issue, and what can I do to resolve it? Thank you!

I've been having this same issue with several SSDs on this v1.6 but not with any HDD I've tried. When I boot the Xbox, the Microsoft logo appears and then it black screens until I press the eject button, then it will load the dashboard. I can tell the dashboard isn't loading at all until eject is pressed since the front LEDs don't change color (they're set to orange). I've tested with 2 SSDs of different models (both from TeamGroup), 2 Startech adapters, and 2 UATA cables with the same results. The console boots fine with video when I start it up with just a stock dashboard on the C partition. Things I've tried to resolve this: - Starting with a stock dashboard on C, copying Rocky5's XBHDM installer on there, and softmodding that way (black screens on first boot without even installing the softmod) - Directly copying the C and E partitions from a working softmodded HDD - Using the Phoenix BIOS Loader and Cerbios - Switching video mode between normal, widescreen, letterbox - Disabling 480p/720p/1080i - Switching video region between PAL and NTSC - Using both component and composite cables - Using several different disc drives I'm running out of ideas, this issue seems pretty weird to me since the same files work on an HDD and the SSD loads a dashboard just fine after the eject/soft-reboot. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

Hi everyone, I recently softmodded an xbox 1.0 using OGXBox Cerbios BFM USB Softmod Installer v2.4.1 Build 04 ENDGAME X4G. Everything works perfectly well, my eeprom is in ntsc and I use the latest rev of xmbc4gamers. But I have an issue on DOA 2 Ultimate, and it's the only game that doesn't work on my console. I tried everything, the ntsc and pal versions, I also downloaded an hdd ready version and also dumped my own personal pal version...and the result is always the same, I have a freeze at launch with a scrambled screen. I tried to launch doa2.xbe directly but the result is identical and I have the same freeze using another dashboard too. Does anyone have any ideas on the origin of my problem? because for my part I no longer have a solution I'm so happy to have joined your community, best regards guys

Hello I recently got an OG Xbox kind of cheap together with some demos and 2 controllers. I tested it and it worked all good for the demos at least, when I put games in it didnt recognize them at all because they were copies something that I didnt really check when I did buy them because they were in DVD boxes with printed labels and all that. After some searching I found that the console was modded because it was showing Xecuter 2 on startup, I didnt know about that because never had an Xbox before so I thought that was normal startup screen lol. So after playing a bit with the settings I gone to flash bios which made sense for me after flashing the first option which I dont remember the name now It started playing one of the copy games but it was stuttering a lot after a while. After another restart I gone to flash the second option and then it stuck without flashing or doing anything for like 20 minutes after which I turned the console off. Now after I turn it on it makes 2-3 attempts to turn on and then starts flashing red-green light constantly, the DVD drives responds and opens up when I push the button for the tray but other from that I have nothing on screen and it doesnt boot up into any menu from what I understand. What are my options from there ? Can I somehow make a new install of the firmware or flash some new bios to it or maybe is the mod messing up ? Any help will be much appreciated as this is my first Xbox console and my knowledge of it is extremely lacking.

Hi all, I am a member of the forum for many years, almost never post but I learned a great deal of things in here. Now to my issue. I have an v1.2 green transparent Xbox that was running fine after I removed the clock capacitor and replaced 3 capacitors on the right front, under the HDD. At some point I installed an Aladdin xt2 (AliExpress version) with CERBIOS v2.0.2R, a WD red 3Tb HDD, and a generic IDE to SATA adapter - Some pictures from 2 years ago can be found here. I only use this Xbox once in a while as it is not my main gaming Xbox console, so it mostly lives in a display without video and power cables. Last week I tried to power it up and I got a FRAG (3 tries to power on and then green-red light). Opening it I could see 3 capacitors that had leaked on top (2 seen below), so I replaced them - the ones marked with red circles --> After that I have the following cases and symptoms: 1. If I remove D0 from ground, it will boot up to an error (I think error number 6 if i remember correctly) which is ok as the HDD in there is no the original one - This is fine 2. With DO grounded and ANY Aladdin XT2 chip I tried I get again a FRAG (3 failed tries and green-red light) and black screen. I have 3 working Aladdins with 3 different custom BIOSes for testing (one with Cerbios 2.0.2R the one that was originally there, one with ind-bios 5003 and one Evox M8plus). All Aladdins have LEDs, and they seem to power up These are my chips: 3. With DO grounded, no HDD, no DVD and the modXO rp2040 zero that I recently created myself (running Cerbios V2.4.2 Beta), it immediately goes to this custom error and flashed red-green (like in 2 seconds), which I don't know if is normal 4. With DO grounded, HDD connected , DVD connected and the modXO rp2040 zero it boots right up, as nothing has happened I checked my soldering, the pin header for the chip seems solid, I removed the DO cable and soldered it again - nothing I tried starting the Xbox with ModXO, went into a Hexen DVD that I have and loaded GenTools. Then I removed the ModXo chip and hot-swapped CERBIOS Aladdin, trying to flash it with the latest CERBIOS but it isn't even detected there I have never seen this before and I had modded and fixed a lot of Xbox in the last 3-4 years. This was the first FRAG I encountered and somehow "fixed" but I want to continue using the Aladdin XT chip for this Xbox. What can be the difference that allows ModXO to start up? Why aren't the Aladdins get detected at all? Is it correct that the ModXO (CERBIOS 2.4.2) throws this error? I thought it would at least show the CERBIOS logo and then go to an error but maybe I am wrong Any help is appreciated!! Thanks

When I start XBMC with LCD enabled settings previously, the LCD screen shows info but then it goes off within like seconds. I then have to go back into system settings and re-enable the LCD again for it to come on. Using Openxenium with spi2par2019 and HD44780 LCD. Once re-enabled it stays on until I turn the xbox off but the same thing happens when I turn it back on again. I'm launching XMBC manually from the dash as I not choose to launch it automatically yet.

So I replaced my capacitors as suggested on my V1 motherboard due to leaking on the clock cap. Video had no problems before but now the video gets a bit intermittent/bars on the screen and the sound starts to squeal. Help me out please. Novice here so any pros would be greatly appreciated lol note I replaced the three 16V 1500 and two 10v3300 caps.

I’ve been running into issues left and right after swapping from and OpenXenium with the HD+ to Nemesis Xenium. I finally got everything up and running fine and seemingly no issue at all with the swapping. Updated to the latest PrometheOS and HD+ firmware before the swap. I can play around in Prometheos as long as I want, doing FTP, flashing banks, etc. As soon as I load into Cerbios HD I get the normal XBMC login screen, but that’s as far as I can get. It freezes almost every time I attempt to sign in. Once I was able to login, but it froze when I clicked on apps. I’ve done a full reformat and reinstall of everything. Also have made sure I’m running the latest XBMC4Gamers. I was trying UDMA 6 and then tried UDMA 5 on a brand new 2TB HDD, with the same results. Anyone else ever run into something like this? This is happening on my precious Skeleton that I’ve slowly been trying to get done.

Hello, I have learnt a lot from these forums over time, and come here often, but this is my first time posting and i would be really greatful for your help as i cant find a solution on google or these forums. My xbox freezes / crashes on the screen after playing any game for about 10 minutes or so, the screen just completely freezes and sound just makes a constant buzzing sound until you power it off again, then if you turn it back on it will do the exact same again , be ok for 10 mins or so then freeze again. Xbox is a 1.1 with tsop flashed to latest cerbios, and 128mb ram with clock cap removed. So far i have tried, replacing the 5 caps near the cpu with alu polymer caps, cleaning the entire board with 99.9% ipa and leaving to dry, replacing the thermal paste, reflowing ram solder joints, 2 different power supplys, and 3 different hard drives some with file versions of games and some with cci image versions of the games and still same result each time when testing. Any help would be really appreciated from the experts that are on here as my head is well and truly baffled with it lol, i have never had an issue with the xbox till it just randomly did this recently. Thankyou in advance for any help or advice

I am trying to get one of my Xboxen ready for when Insignia drops, and I am having a wierd issue. If I put in a HDD built with OGXbox installer, it works. I can get all the way through to the create a gamertag screen. If I put a hdd that is a clean build, only MS dash files on it (5960), it fails just after "create an accont" screen. "something went wrong.." Same bios, same dash, only difference being one was hand built with fatxplorer. with just the dash files, the other with fatxplorer and "OGXBox Installer 2021 - v1.5.3 beta 2 For FatXplorer + XBoxHDM" files... The only modification I made to the ogxbox files, was adding the ini file for cerbios. Ideas?

I have a 1.4 with a flashed TSOP on Cerbios running XBMC4Gamers. First symptom I noticed was a half-second complete video and sound blackout every so often which wasn't too intrusive, but I had other boxes to play on, so never thought too much about it until now when I've started using this box again. I'm not getting the half-second drop-outs like before but what I am getting is really stuttery FMV playback. It's a bit weird in that it plays game preview videos OK, but once I start a game, any video sequence playback is all stuttery - like a record skipping every second or two. The gameplay itself is flawless. I swapped the HDD into another system and it played fine while the other system HDD had the same issue in the problem box. When I got this particular system it looked almost like brand new - and still does, and looking at all the caps, they look in pristine condition. Does choppy video playback point to anything in particular to anyone?

I have a console that a softmod was attempted on and for some reason failed. I happened to use the softmod installer included in the @sweetdarkdestiny TSOP tool. However, I have no reason to actually believe that there is any problem with it, since @Mittyoz had the same problem here: And used a different source for the softmod files. I feel that we may have used some odd, unlikely combination of files with the softmod installer or that there may be something up with our consoles in particular. Admittedly, Mitty did attempt to do a softmod and TSOP on top of each other, but his failure happened before he even TSOPd so I don't think it has anything to do with that. I am scratching my head and trying to figure out what this could be. Basically, The console boots and shows the animation. Once the dash is supposed to load, the console boots to a black screen. The Status LED is orange, there is no sound, no discs will boot and I am not entirely sure how to tell if an FTP server is running and to check if any dash is running that way. I have attempted to research the problem, but no threads or reddit posts end up with a solid solution. I think I saw a couple where people just gave up and hardmodded. lol. @Rocky5 If you would be willing to lend your experience and knowledge here, I would very, very much appreciate it. It will help me and others resolve this issue in the future!

Hey Everyone, I am trying to patch to 480p but the game keeps booting up in 480i. I have an original copy of the game which I ripped to my OG Xbox and plays fine of the HDD. I have a 1.4 Halo TSOP running Evox with UnleashX, HD cables and video settings at 480p and 720p. I replaced the default.xbe with the below patch but is still booted up in 480i. (both hard drive files and burnt to a DVD) https://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?86942 I then tried the Hex edit as mentioned below on post #15 but it sill didn't work https://www.ign.com/boards/threads/darkwatch-doesnt-support-progressive-scan.96422065/ I'm not sure if there is something I am missing, any help would be really appreciated. Thank you

I've a Xbox v1.2 - 1.5. I know you can TSOP it, but I like the options a modchip brings. So, I soldered the LPC pinheader, a wire from D0 to ground (screwhole) and a wire on the Aladdin XT PLUS2 XT 4032 chip from the BT to the other pad. Now when turning on the Xbox it FRAGs. The led on the modchip is on. When I remove the modchip (I didn`t remove the LPC header or the D0 to ground wire, only the modchip from the header) the FRAGing exists. Before I soldered the modchip, the Xbox was working fine. Some photo's from my soldering job. I also tested from the top of the board the D0 point and my meter beeps on all the screwplates, so that looks fine. Also the LPC pinheader looks good. So I'm a bit frustrated because of this issue. https://imgur.com/a/3IRniGb Above the pinheader you'll see some flux residu, I've taken care of that after the photo's. Is there a way to double check the connections from the pins and the back of the board to somewhere on the board?

Hi Guys I am new here and have soft modded my og xbox and installed XBMC4Gamers dash, however some games are just not being recognized by the dash. I have tried so many different solutions, such as copying from different flash drives, hdd.....etc, nothing helped. When ripping the games from a disc, they work fine, and most work ok after copy, but some just show these weird names as you can see in the screenshot. Xbox is running a 1TB hdd, for those games that wont work, artwork installer just marks them as being corrupt. Has anyone else had this issue, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, hoping someone can help here. I've made several xblast aladdin chips, as well as the Jafar chips, and quickboot will never boot the designated bios i have selected in Xblast Settings. No matter what i do, it always boots to the Xblast OS. For example: i have quickboot set to yes, i have X25035 as my 512k Bank(0), IND5003 as bank(1), and Cromwell as bank (2) aka Xblast. If i assign either the 256k or the 512k bios to launch pressing the Eject button, it will work as it's supposed to.

Hello all! A few months back a got my first OG Xbox, but the DVD drive was broken. I ended up buying a second Xbox for parts with a working drive and swapped them out (I ended up getting lucky, it was a Samsung drive). So a couple days ago I pulled out my spare Xbox and found the only problem with it was the power button not turning the console on/off. The console would power on when plugged in, which looking into this online told me its a common problem. So I ended borrowing the working drive and softmodding it. Everything was going perfectly until I was playing some snes9x and the console was smoking! Turns out the clock capicitor was leaking on the motherboard and melting. I knew about the clock capicitor issues, but stupid me thought I'd just do it later. So I cleaned up the mess and removed the capicitor, but it left some irreversible damage. Now the console will boot up and work fine for 5 minutes before suddenly turning off. I inspected the motherboard and noticed it had some corrosion on the "A Line" (Source: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php%3F/topic/29-how-to-fix-trace-corrosion/&ved=2ahUKEwjl4szT1bn7AhXbjokEHQddBoEQFnoECA4QAQ&usg=AOvVaw1PMDAuq47ME_GX_0VJ58Ll). I'm not sure if the clock capicitor melt down has something to do with this new issue (most likely do does) or if the corrosion has gotten worse from the whole incident. I'm posting pictures below. I think the best method moving forward would be to try and solder in a wire workaround (From source above). I need some advice, whats the best move moving forward? I want to save this Xbox if I can.

I am using an Electron Shepherd Xbox2HDMI dongle and have 480p and 720p enabled for my Rev 1 xbox with a X.B.I.T. modchip. XBMC4Gamers is working great and looks clean on my Vizio TV in 720p but when I open the Artwork installer it looks like the attached images. This so far is the only app I have noticed this behavior in.

Got my first modded box, latest Rocky5 with UnleashX. Immediately I installed my DLC, which worked fine. I then decided I wanted to try the MS dash on it, tried just downloading the files online and running it (failed, error 16 but didn't cause any issues I could tell.) but then FTPed the Rocky5 extras and installed the dash this way. Then I dualbooted, but I chose 'No' on install UnleashX as second dash, and I didn't find an 'Alt Dashboard' folder. I uninstalled the dualboot and redid it with 'Yes'. Deleted UnleashX .xbe in the Alt folder and copied/renamed the MS dash into there. Dual boot works perfect. However, I popped in some games and all my DLC is nonfunctional. I noticed that in the MS dash memory manager, the DLC appears but the icons have a small green arrow in the corner. Normally this would be a checkmark. I was able to (without uninstalling the DLC) use the DLC installers again and fix all of my DLC. Green checks appear in MS dash now and all is well. I'm just curious if there is a chance somewhere along this line that I unsigned the DLC or something, or if this points to a larger issue that I will have again. I do not plan to do anything further but play games and rip CDs with this console, I just want peace of mind that this is not likely to break itself on its own again. If any of this is confusing, I can try to explain or show some pictures.

Hi, i just finished rescuing and polishing up a almost dead 1.6 (dead HDD, dead Fan, 5 leaked capacitors and a burned power supply fuse) which now almost works - except for the following issue: As soon as the system has been booted, the CPU / GPU temperatures are rising to 64 °C almost immediatly and coherently. Then, it turns off after a few minutes. What i already tried: Fully cleaned and removed the old thermal paste and replaced it (holy crap, the one on the GPU felt like tarred road) Hard-tweaked the BIOS to run the Fan at 40% instead of the default 20% Both actions did not had any impact on the issue. System configuration: Alladin Modchip, EvoX M8+ 1.6 BIOS, UnleashX Dashboard (grabbed the version from the OGXBox Installer Disc), Noctua 60 mm 12 V Fan, Noname PATA-SATA Adaptor with 256 GB SATA SSD, new 80 Pin PATA Cable. Any ideas what else i could try? I don't want to flash the BIOS in the current situation because of the general system instability but would perform it with a external programmer if necessary.

I’ve been filling up a 160GB HDD for a buddy with the normal .7z files(extracted of course) from the archive and after about 38 games, FileZilla is just refusing to fully transfer anything else. HDD has around 20GB left so I’m pretty sure space isn’t an issue. Any ideas/suggestions? FYI same result using flashfxp. It will start a queue and sometimes transfer half of the files and then just quit and the rest fail. Upon noticing this ftp problem, now I can’t delete the last two transfers from the Xbox. I’ve done it within the consoles file system and from FileZilla. They won’t budge. I’ve rescanned manually, cleared the cache, and rebooted several times. Hoping one of you has had this happen before. It’s a first for me.
