About Me

  1. Got my first modded box, latest Rocky5 with UnleashX. Immediately I installed my DLC, which worked fine. I then decided I wanted to try the MS dash on it, tried just downloading the files online and running it (failed, error 16 but didn't cause any issues I could tell.) but then FTPed the Rocky5 extras and installed the dash this way. Then I dualbooted, but I chose 'No' on install UnleashX as second dash, and I didn't find an 'Alt Dashboard' folder. I uninstalled the dualboot and redid it with 'Yes'. Deleted UnleashX .xbe in the Alt folder and copied/renamed the MS dash into there. Dual boot works perfect. However, I popped in some games and all my DLC is nonfunctional. I noticed that in the MS dash memory manager, the DLC appears but the icons have a small green arrow in the corner. Normally this would be a checkmark. I was able to (without uninstalling the DLC) use the DLC installers again and fix all of my DLC. Green checks appear in MS dash now and all is well. I'm just curious if there is a chance somewhere along this line that I unsigned the DLC or something, or if this points to a larger issue that I will have again. I do not plan to do anything further but play games and rip CDs with this console, I just want peace of mind that this is not likely to break itself on its own again. If any of this is confusing, I can try to explain or show some pictures.
  2. Hi, i just finished rescuing and polishing up a almost dead 1.6 (dead HDD, dead Fan, 5 leaked capacitors and a burned power supply fuse) which now almost works - except for the following issue: As soon as the system has been booted, the CPU / GPU temperatures are rising to 64 °C almost immediatly and coherently. Then, it turns off after a few minutes. What i already tried: Fully cleaned and removed the old thermal paste and replaced it (holy crap, the one on the GPU felt like tarred road) Hard-tweaked the BIOS to run the Fan at 40% instead of the default 20% Both actions did not had any impact on the issue. System configuration: Alladin Modchip, EvoX M8+ 1.6 BIOS, UnleashX Dashboard (grabbed the version from the OGXBox Installer Disc), Noctua 60 mm 12 V Fan, Noname PATA-SATA Adaptor with 256 GB SATA SSD, new 80 Pin PATA Cable. Any ideas what else i could try? I don't want to flash the BIOS in the current situation because of the general system instability but would perform it with a external programmer if necessary.
  3. I’ve been filling up a 160GB HDD for a buddy with the normal .7z files(extracted of course) from the archive and after about 38 games, FileZilla is just refusing to fully transfer anything else. HDD has around 20GB left so I’m pretty sure space isn’t an issue. Any ideas/suggestions? FYI same result using flashfxp. It will start a queue and sometimes transfer half of the files and then just quit and the rest fail. Upon noticing this ftp problem, now I can’t delete the last two transfers from the Xbox. I’ve done it within the consoles file system and from FileZilla. They won’t budge. I’ve rescanned manually, cleared the cache, and rebooted several times. Hoping one of you has had this happen before. It’s a first for me.
  4. Hi guys, I've installed the cheap internal adapter from dirtypcb...I've an issue from time to time the console boot normally with hdmi...sometime boot but without image...every point it's been checked with multimeter...what could be the problem...how I can debug it?Thanks...
  5. I used EVtool to create a custom bios without the DVD drive check and EvoX Logo. This allows my modchipped xbox to operate without a disc drive. However, my other xboxes never get past the boot sequence when I try to use the same bios flashed to the TSOP of a 1.0 and two 1.4s. The xbox logo disappears and I get hung on a black screen indefinitely. They boot to the dashboard if a DVD drive is installed just fine. Does the no DVD bios only really work with a modchip?
  6. Hi Guys I recently upgraded the hdd on my OG xbox. I originally wanted to go with a 128gb Sand Disk ssd. I cloned the drive and it showed as locked and cloned. However when trying to boot I get the xbox logo, the the screen just goes blank. I then tried the exact same thing with a 500GB WD hdd and it worked fine. Do you guys have any idea as to why it would boot from the hdd and not the ssd? They both have the exact same cloned data? Note: I had another spare ssd and tried it with that and it also wouldn't boot? Is there a particular method needed for using an ssd on a softmodded xbox?
  7. Hello, hoping someone can help here. I've made several xblast aladdin chips, as well as the Jafar chips, and quickboot will never boot the designated bios i have selected in Xblast Settings. No matter what i do, it always boots to the Xblast OS. For example: i have quickboot set to yes, i have X25035 as my 512k Bank(0), IND5003 as bank(1), and Cromwell as bank (2) aka Xblast. If i assign either the 256k or the 512k bios to launch pressing the Eject button, it will work as it's supposed to.
  8. Hi This forum is great but i've exhuasted searching for a solution to my problem. What I would like to do is be able to boot two bios. One with the power button to launch XBMC4Gamers and one with the eject button to launch XBMC-Emustation. I've been away from the xbox mod scene for about a decade until recently but from what I understand I should be able to do this with my new aladdin mod chip. My xbox is a 1.6 so i've had to rebuild the LPC. I have modified two M8 16 bios .bin files - One 512k bios to boot to XBMC4Gamers and one 256k bios to boot to XBMC-Emustation (both 480p bios, I have Wii2HDMI internal mod) Flashed the bios files to their appropriate banks on my Aladdin XT Changed the settings from within XblastOS to allow quickboot - power button 512k bios, eject button 256k bios Regardless of what settings I change my xbox will only ever boot the 256k bios and launch XBMC4Gamers. However if i flash bank1 (256k) with the XblastOS bios the settings then it will work and I can choose which bios to boot (either XblastOS or whichever bios i have flashed to the 512k bank). I have tried to flash bank2 (OS) on the modchip with the XblastOS bios but it made no difference. Im thinking perhaps it is a problem with my soldering but i've checked my connections for continuity and they all seem fine. I have also earthed the d0 to the ground screw but the picture below was taken before I made that connection. Hopefully ive explained that okay. Its not a major issue because I can use the xbox as it is but I would like the option to boot into two dashboards, with the touch of a button, if possible. tia
  9. Hello. I Have A Problem That I’m Having With Getting This One Video Game, It’s Called Def Jam Fight For NY & I Manage To Put it on my FTP And Transfer Over To My Modded XBOX but everytime i try to load it up, it quickly crashes and puts me back to the modded homepage, i currently use XBMC i’m also using a hitachi disc drive I will also post pictures & photos of my modded xbox as well. can someone please help me and show me the solution to this, I Really Appreciate itThe Problem I’m Having The Last Picture Is The ISO That Loads Up Then Crashes Quickly
  10. I made a post a few weeks back about getting a 1.6 with a HDD that immediately died after booting. Couldn’t get eeprom in time. Looks like someone was trying to tinker around and really screwed some things up. Without the wires and chip, the Xbox will boot into HDD failure error which I’m fully aware of. I tried getting two Aladdin chips fitted and neither one of them will boot. They both flash green light for a second and then power off. One chip shows red light and the other shows yellow. I’ve reflowed solder points countless times and still the same result. I’ve tried D0 grounded to board and the chip and other various places I’ve seen and read about, but nothing works. As you can see from the board, there have been several trace lifts, but from what I’ve seen I have everything linked up properly accordingly to the lifted traces. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to keep the chip inside so I have not cut the L-Frame. I just want to pull the eeprom and build a replacement drive. These Aladdin chips on 1.6 are proving to be a real pain in the ass.
  11. When I start XBMC with LCD enabled settings previously, the LCD screen shows info but then it goes off within like seconds. I then have to go back into system settings and re-enable the LCD again for it to come on. Using Openxenium with spi2par2019 and HD44780 LCD. Once re-enabled it stays on until I turn the xbox off but the same thing happens when I turn it back on again. I'm launching XMBC manually from the dash as I not choose to launch it automatically yet.
  12. Hi folks, A friend pointed me in your direction, and I hope you can shed some light of this issue. I picked up an immaculate Xbox today, boxed, sealed manual, still had the plastic over the eject and power buttons, not a mark on the case I played some OutRun2 and Dead or Alive 3, no issues. I then decided to “stress test” and run a game for half an hour, and chose Halo 2, letting it sit in its promo/demo loop. After around 35 mins, the game froze. I ejected the disc, returned to the dash, and reloaded the disc … nothing. The green light around eject just flashes, but there’s no action from the drive other than 3 whirs then nothing. Tonight I took the console apart, and it’s immaculate inside. No leaks, no dust, no bulging caps, not even a spec of dust on the fan … I doubt this console has seen much use, which is what makes this issue even harder to understand. When I had the lid off the drive, I tried to load a game, OutRun2 … but the behaviour is the same for any disc. The lens moves to the top of the track and back 3 times, and each time it returns to its “home” position next to the disc spindle, the spindle tries to turn and moves, if it’s lucky, a centimetre or two. It does this 3 times, then nothing. I don’t get any disc read errors, because the disc doesn’t seem to spin up. The drive, like the rest of the system, is very clean but it just stopped working so suddenly. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to return this to CEX for them to scrap it, especially given it’s condition, so I want to try and save it. If the drive is toast, as I suspect it may well be, what are my options in terms of modding without a working disc drive? Thanks all. Edit: I have uploaded a video of the drive in action, here:
  13. So I got a soft modded console with Maxtor 40GB IDE drive, listed as working. Got it, plugged it in, browsed around for maybe 5 mins and then it just crashed. The board is now dead and the HDD is locked. Being locked I know my options are already limited. I basically just want to format it completely and rebuild it for use on another machine. Here’s where I run into the major issue. I first tried my OpenXenium Xbox to try and unlock the drive. No luck it won’t let format or any of the options available. I just get an error saying it couldn’t complete it yada yada yada. I was however able to sign into the drive with FTP and it’s completely empty. Hexen won’t boot since I can only get as far an error 9 with a locked drive. PC does not recognize the drive at all when plugged in via IDE to USB adapter. FYI, It does have a power source running. Where can I go from here? I hate to throw away a 40GB drive if it’s salvageable. If it’s dead, then so be it.
  14. Hi, I've just cleaned up an old xbox to keep around as a spare. I've cleaned and lubed the drive mechanism in the DVD drive, all is moving smoothly and reading discs perfectly. The only problem is that, when opening the tray, the open/close button light keeps flashing while open, and after a few seconds, the tray closes by itself. It's not stopping me from playing games, but I'd like to get it back to working as it should. Does anyone know if this sounds like something that's easy to fix? Thanks very much. -Bob
  15. Not sure whether this is a Chimp 261812, HDD, BIOS or other matter. I've not used a 1TB HDD with a Xbox before, largest size I've used is 500GB and I've had no problems with Chimp 261812 formatting the extended partition(s). Well today I decided to build a new Xbox HDD using a recently purchased ITB WD AF SATA HDD for use in a chipped Xbox by using a TSOPed Xbox and Chimp 261812 (v1.0). I've done similar things in the past when I couldn't use an installer disc because the Xbox did not have a working DVD drive. All went well and worked perfectly except the formatting of the extended partitions. I elected to have all available space for F but after I'd cloned the existing 80GB IDE 2.5" HDD, BTW just C and E, I was asked again how I wanted to partition the available free space. I checked the Slave ITB HDD's status and the partition table showed the remaining space equally split between F and G about 450GB each. WTF? So I redid it, choosing all F again, but still with the same result. The custom EvoxM8+ BIOS I used for the TSOP is set up for all free space to be used by partition 6 (F) and not to ignore the partition table. So I exited Chimp and used Rocky5's XBPTableWriter to reaffirm all free space goes to F. Went back to Chimp, this time with the 1TB as Master HDD on the TSOPed machine and checked. It was still showing equal split F and G so again I tried reformatting to use all F but still no joy. Long story but I eventually gave up on Chimp and went to XBPartitioner v1.3 and very quickly had the thing formatted to use all the space to F with the correct cluster size (64K) for the 950+GB F partition. So any ideas why Chimp might have been unable to do that?
  16. Hello, recently soft modded (rocky5) my Xbox, with no problems, upgraded the HDD to 250GB, and swapped the dash location to C:\Dashboard changing the dash to Evox. The issue is - upon boot the flubber animation plays, the Microsoft logo appears at the bottom, and then a black screen for about 10 or so seconds. Was wondering is this a common thing, or if not is there a possible fix ?, maybe such as showing the Xbox logo screen until the dash loads. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Hi Friends, I'm here to ask your help again. My friend ask me to repair his xbox. When I opened it I seen the following. Xbox 1.6 with an MSI DVD/DVD RW drive. The dvd drive was soldered to the eject button's board. I do not know this type of DVD MOD cause I always use LG 8163B drive. So the plan was the following. Soldering in an Aladdin XT modchip and change this unknown DVD mod to other --> LG 8163B (it was tested in some other xboxes and worked well) and change the HDD to a bigger one. Okay, chip soldered in, works well. DVD drive changed to 8163B, and here is my problem, the eject button won't work. I can open the DVD tray only with the eject button of the 8163B. I not tested the eject button before the changes. I checked the traces on the motherborad with multimeter, everythings fine. I checked the Poweron/Eject board, there is no problem with it. So, if someone has any idea what I have to try to fix it, that would be great. Thank you in advance.
  18. webwxgetvideo.mp4 It can be boot without hard disk. I can see EVO mark at the left top. And I got the 09 error. If the hard disk was conected. when I reboot the console, The xbox will be frozen at the start-screen. I try to change more cable and hard disk. Still not resolved. Please kindly help me to find this issue root casue.
  19. All, I just recently ressurected my old xbox, and upgraded it to a 2tb drive. I had to upgrade the bios on the chip in order to properly have the system see all the new space. I did so by using the hexen disc. So this worked, but now if i use the Xecutor bios, it takes a little over 10 seconds for it to get to the boot animation screen. If i use evox, its a little quicker, but not by that much. Anything i can do to increase the speed? On the old xecutor bios it was instantaneous. Thanks in advance!
  20. All Xbox's I mention are Tsop'd 1.0,1.1& 1.4 .I'm receiving the errors above, this is only with the sata HDD and a convertor I got off ebay. I have one in another tsop xbox and it runs fine So I have 3 convertors, all are the same and 1 runs just fine. The other 2 give the error codes above. The one working is using the original Xbox's IDE Cable with a slow 5400rpm 2tb Drive. Works flawlessly The other 2 Tsop xboxs ( 1.0 & 1.4 ) do not want to accept the Sata Drives, Their original Stock HDD with UNleashX Dahboard works fine on both. All drives are set to unlocked the 1.4 runs EvoM8+ The 1.0 Run x2 5035? Think thats right. - Same as the 1.1 that works. I've read this could be an issue with the Sata Adaptor, IDE Cable only being 40wire, Drives or Both. Its worth mentioning I've tried a few different hdd's with the same issue on all Sata's. I can get Hexen2020 to boot on both but Hexen also struggles to read the drives. On the 1.4 I backup the Eeprom to the HDD and it will boot but to the Xbox Dash and as soon as I try with the UnleashX Dash I get the errors again. I am close to ordering an 80wire ide cable to try see if this resolves it, Failing that The more expensive adaptor for IDE made by Star tech which i'd wished to avoid. 1 more thing, the IDE to Sata Adaptors being set to Master gives the error. Without the Pin in cable select does nothing but freeze on the Blob Screen Slave mode causes it to freeze also. Any advise is really appreciated.
  21. Hello everyone, I am writing this today to see if anyone would potentially know what the issue is with my Xbox's dvd drive. A little backstory. I got an unopened 1.6 many months ago. The console would give the lovely 07 error, so I figured the hard drive was the problem. I swapped out the hard drive with a known good working hard drive, and chipped the console, and would still get the 07 error. In my quest to repair the xbox, I noticed that the green light was constantly flashing whenever I turned the console on. I swapped out the disc drive and all of the console's problems went away. That brings me to my issue. I currently have a Samsung SDG-605F that stops the console from detecting the hard drive whenever its IDE cable is connected. If I connect only the power cable, the console will open and close the console no problem. When I then connect the IDE cable, the console flashes green constantly and the drive will not respond to the eject button being pressed. I've taken a look at the drive's motherboard and there is nothing that stands out as wrong. My thoughts are that the firmware has gotten partially corrupted, the dram chip on the drive's motherboard is dead, or there are issues with the MediaTek controller on the drive's motherboard. I'm not sure what the issue is. I am hoping that someone here knows what the issue is and what I would need to do to fix it. Thank you for reading through all of this. DobaMuffin
  22. Hi everybody, i'm new here and this Will be my first post. I am new to original xbox modding, and I just recently installed an openxenium modship on my 1.6b xbox. I've also done The spi2par2019 lcd mod from ryze119. So now to my issue, when im using Xbmc and dvd2xbox lcd is working perfect, however when im booting into xenium OS lcd shows a couple of random strange looking symbols. My thoughts are that this could be due to some settings because here is the thing, first time i booted up into xbmc same thing happened where lcs showed some strange characters. And this were fixed simply by changing some settings in the xbmc lcd settings, and the reason this was happening whas due to The backlight were set by deafult to 80% and since ive done The arduino only installation (no backpack) i dont have backlight controll, so i set it to 100 percent and everything worked fine after that. So my guess is that it might be some similar issue happening in xenium OS where maybe some deafult lcd settings is causing issues and I cant find any way to change lcd settings in xenium OS, does Anyone know if its possible? Or have an idea of whats going on? Its really a small issue since its just happening in xenium OS and works perfect in every other app but it just anoys me, hope someone can help, i'd appreciate it.
  23. Hey Everyone, I am trying to patch to 480p but the game keeps booting up in 480i. I have an original copy of the game which I ripped to my OG Xbox and plays fine of the HDD. I have a 1.4 Halo TSOP running Evox with UnleashX, HD cables and video settings at 480p and 720p. I replaced the default.xbe with the below patch but is still booted up in 480i. (both hard drive files and burnt to a DVD) https://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?86942 I then tried the Hex edit as mentioned below on post #15 but it sill didn't work https://www.ign.com/boards/threads/darkwatch-doesnt-support-progressive-scan.96422065/ I'm not sure if there is something I am missing, any help would be really appreciated. Thank you
  24. My issue is that out of all the games I have, probably only every 4th or 5th game actually launches. The rest just go from whichever dashboard I am using, to a black screen, then back to the dashboard without running at all... The screen flickers a bit but stays black and its always the exact same amount of time. Now if its a working game, it works. It loads instantly, no waiting, and it has no glitches or crashes. First the specs: Xbox v1.0 with a OpenXenium modchip recently installed. I am running 3 different dashes (mostly as incremental troubleshooting steps, not to complicate things). The first is a softmodded UnleashX using Rocky5's latest. 2nd boots using M8+ bios to XBMC. 3rd boots to EvoX also using M8+. I upgraded to a 2tb drive and copied over all my original roms, plus a hdd ready set I found on the usual places. I had done a power fix on the motherboard traces and removed the clock cap after it burst(no corrosion), but that was while it was softmodded for the last 13 years, and its never affected the ability of games or applications to run from disc or hdd Troubleshooting: I've done all the usual troubleshooting steps like trying both my Component and Composite cables, and forcing resolutions from 1080i down to 480i. I've attempted to launch all the roms using "launch as NSTC" or "launch as PAL" (forcing PAL-60), and setting regions to auto or default. I've also read that softmods and hard mods don't like working together, so I reformatted C and put back clean C files for the original MS Dash. I did not clear out the UDATA or TDATA folders on E, but I wouldn't suspect that to affect launching specific games. I routinely clean out the drive cache folder, and I have plenty of space free on all my partitions. I've tried running the games from UnleashX, Evox, XBMC, and game mgr in DVD2Xbox. Thinking perhaps it was just the hdd ready set I obtained was partially bad, I tried getting some redumps of a few of the non-working games. I XISO'd them using dvdmulleter, burned them to dvd-r, then ripped them to the xbox hdd using DVD2Xbox(patching and ACL processing enabled). I also tried Qwix to ftp over files from XISOs. Originally I had FTP'd over the entire 2tb hdd ready set using FileZilla using Binary, but these few games I was testing I must have transferred dozens of times for testing making sure it was set binary and that the xbe's were patched first. Those redumps function the same as the hdd ready set. Black screen, then back to dash. Very consistent... if the game will run, it will run no matter how I get it onto the box. If not, then black screen. Where I launch them from has ZERO affect. All my original rips on the hard drive (made by me over the last decade while the box was softmodded) still function fine, including original discs, and maybe 20% of the hdd ready set. Are there some basic step I've overlooked in the modding process? I am new to this OpenXenium modchip. Is there some other bios I should try, either newer or older like M7? It feels like this old v1.0 xbox may not be liking all this newer software and hardware, but thats just my desperation grasping at straws. Any questions, help, or suggestions? I felt like this was the best place for this thread, but I'd be happy to ask a mod to move it or start a new one in the correct forum if "games" is not the best place for it.
  25. Hi guys, So a close friend's og xbox had a loud pop and smoke when he plugged it in last month so I decided to give him a spare 1.4 that I TSOPed, put in a 2TB with all necessary parts. He purchased a Hyperkin HDMI and for some reason the there seems to be interference/noise (see pics) on the 1.4 but not on my 1.1. Composite is fine on both. All the settings are the same on both og xboxes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
