I have two OG XBOX consoles and I'd like to get them up and running again if possible. One unit powers on but shows an error 7 and the other powers on and reaches the dashboard but will not read any disc I put into the drive(There is also no message about not being able to read the disc either). What steps should I take to get started with a repair? Is either unit a lost cause? I know I'm probably leaving out important info but hopefully this can get me going.

Hi there! I'm brand new to this board and looking to do my first mod chip install on a v1 that was given to me a few years ago. Back then I grabbed a DuoX2 but never got around to installing it. Well the time has come, and I've dug out the Xbox and found the mod chip... still sealed in the anti-static bag... but I'm wondering if I should stick with the Duo X2 GS. I'm wondering if it might be better to go with an Aladdin Advance XT Modchip PLUS2 or Open Xenium. Is there a benefit to either one over the Duo? Thanks!

Hey guys and lady's, the titel mostly say it already. I would be interested in which tools you use for your xbox and which tools you think should be on an installer. And also interesting is what you would like to have on an installer as well like emulators (and ofc which), dasdboards (Old, new ect.) or which options you think would be nice to have on that disc. Reason is, Dave an I had a little chat about the installer and some little issues with it and like I wrote in the topic (of the installer), I plan to re-design it a bit, if you will so. (Because Dave is right here and there so, yeah....) Thats why I would like to get some imput of you guys. PM's are also welcome, in case you're shy. So hit me with your suggestions ect.. EDIT. And no softmodding. Rocky does a awesome job with his softmodding tool so there would be no need to put something like that on an other installer.

Got a version 1.0 that is flashing orange (high temp) immediately after power up. So here's my situation, My 1.6 burned out about two months ago now. Trusty system, but now it's doing the on/off three times frag thing. For 10 bucks I bought a 1.0 Xbox. It however, didn't have a hard drive in it. Error 7. The man gave me back my money and let me keep the Xbox because he didn't know it was lacking a hard drive. So, I have these two boxes. My 1.6 has an 80 gig drive. I received in the mail an Aladdin XT Plus 2. What can I use this chip for to get either of these boxes running? Can I simply plug the Aladdin chip onto the 1.0 board? Modding the 1.6 is a bit ridiculous, and I am not sure if the chip will repair the system anyway. I can't find any info on using the Aladdin chip on a 1.0 board, but with that unit NOT having a hard drive I cannot tsop flash it, so if I can boot it via the Aladdin chip and the then set it up I am PERFECTLY FINE with that as a solution. Looking for as little hogwash as possible. Thanks for your thoughts.

i recently obtained a broken xbox and i'm having 2 weird problems with it. (not the weird part)1st off, the power supply had a bad solder joint that i fixed so now the system powers on. (weird parts) 1. there is no picture on the tv screen at all even though the the eject button light turns solid green telling me that it detects the a/v cable. it flashes green/orange when the a/v cable is unplugged. but there is absolutely no change on the tv screen. 2. the disk drive does not eject even though i can take the top off of the drive and see the spindle turn and the laser move reacting to me pressing the eject button. i know a stuck dvd drive tray isn't uncommon on these system but i have tried 2 different drives in it that eject fine in another xbox. the only change i have made to the mobo is that i removed the clock cap which appeared to not even have leaked onto the mobo yet(i did this before testing the xbox which i wish i wouldn't have). the system also has mild rust on the tray underneath the mobo which suggest it's had moisture in it(even the dvd laser has rust on the metal around the laser lens). btw, it's a version 1.0 xbox. any idea what the heck is wrong with it? thanks for any advice.

I hace a 300gb IDE hard drive that I used in a sodtmodded Xbox back in the day - only realized this evening that it is locked and that I no longer have the Xbox I made it for - is there anyway to unlock it - I have softmodded xboxes lying around - would they help unlock it? Thanks

Hello ladies and gents. I am new here but I have been in the console modding biz for quite a long time now. It just so happens doing the boat load of digging I do on a normal night of nothing, I might have stumbled on the biggest Xbox archive I've seen since ISO zone. I'll comment back if it's a false alarm or not since I have not extracted any ISO images from this site yet.

So this is my struggle, I bought a japanese Sega Saturn model 2 more than a year ago. The power switch on it came completely destroyed. No refunds for me, because it wasn't the seller fault, etc. After 1 year of procrastinating, I tried to fix my Saturn. And believe it or not, I found the part I was looking for to fix the power switch!! I could not believe it, because I live in Chile, near the south pole, and an old tech geezer had the part I was looking for! I was so happy! I fixed it, so I thought, but I came down with the reality that now the PSU was completely dead. Aesthetically the PSU is perfect!! Nothing blown, nothing cracked, and nothing corroded. I already tried to fix it with the help of a great guy on Reddit, but to no avail. So here it is my idea, could anyone in this wonderful community spare with me a Saturn PSU? A PAL 220v PSU hopefully? I have in my possesion three 220v OG Xbox PSU's and one 110V American OG Xbox PSU. I could give any of those PSU's in return for a PAL Sega Saturn PSU, my PSU's are perfect and all working great! My best regards to everyone! You have always been great to me. Hector Hidalgo.

So guys, now finally after more than a month waiting, I finally got my Sata to IDE adapter. So, I am finally ready to clone my old HDD to the new one. The problem now, is that when I start chimp, I get a black screen. Thing is, if anyone in the forum knows me, I am from Chile, and I converted my ONLY original composite cable and converted it into a very amazing Component cable, using an original 360 component cable. So... I know that the problem Chimp gives me, is because I must use a composite cable. What do I do know? I know there is a way to clone the Xbox HDD using Windows, but I cannot remember how to do that. Cheers friends, and thank you. Edit: Now that I think off, I do have 1 cheap component cable and the left over of my original composite. Is gonna be a pain in the ass, but anyone has a composite cable diagram?

Have 2 hard modded Xbox and trying to upgrade to 500gb haven't messed like this in years :( figures crossed it works for me.

So that is my question, If I have MS dash 5960 from Rocky5 DVD (installed as an application) Do I still need to delete dashupdate.xbe? (from games) I have Rocky5 latest softmod and no hardmod on a 1.6. I have also heard that some games don't run if you delete dashupdate.xbe or downloader.xbe, is this true? When your tring to solder to a circuit board and you damage it don't despair most stuff up's can be fixed If you have ripped the trace off the Xbox circuit board you need to STOP and try to relax, Walk away from the job for a minute or ten or more if neaded This is the trace that is damaged and need's to be repaired. This is a pic of a undamaged PCB same location. The red wire is what was suposed to happen 1st step Clean off the paint. I cheated and used a Glass fiber pen to do that but gentley scraping the track is ok you only nead to remove the paint. 2nd Step Add flux to the board 3rd Tin the trace 4th Prep the wire you are going to use. I use wirewrap wire for a repair like this one as it's a single strand. 5th Tin and trim the wire. I should have trimed it a bit shorter 6th Lay the wire on the tinned trace and apply heat. 7th Clean up the PCB Now rince and repeat for the other end. Once you have tested it and your happy a small dob of hot melt glue or even a dob(pin head sise) of super glue to stop the wire moving. Not on the solder joint say 5 to 10mm(1/4 inch) from the solder joint.

Hi, so short i tried tsop. Solder points on 1.0 xbox and when i put my hexen 2018 copy it boots but can't flash anything. If i try to install application i just got error code 3 from hexen. If i try to open tsop flash tools it just stuck on loading/copying files. I tried to check with bios checker but it will not boot and xbox boots back to dashboard. So are this is my soldering is bad or what? Added mobo and hexen info (i can add more info latter, sry for not clean photo it's was best i have to see chips)

I have a crazy xbox that I can’t mod properly- it’s a 1.6 - everything is in working order. it’s one I found in my attic last night - my only note on it was crazy Xbox so I can’t remember what’s wrong with it. I thought a fresh start might do it good so since it was already softmodded I used the eeprom to build a new hard drive in HDM v1.9. I successfully made the drive - plugged it in and sure enough it was box fresh. ithen copies over the Sid installer files and Splinter cell game save - these worked and took me to the softmodded menu. I backed up the EEPROM and MS Dash. When I tried single boot install - it started but suddenly the Splintercell game started to load up and duly took me back to the main menu of the game where Linux appears. i rebooted the game and tried dual boot softmod - this time I got a batch fail message and not it has error 13 when I boot the console - not bothered as I’ll just remake the hard disk or stick the original softmodded gard disk back in. my intention was to softmod it with SID and Splinter Celland then put the Rocky 5 softmod on it - but I never got that far - this method has worked on my other 3 consoles over the past month as I updated them all to Rocky softmod. anyond shed any light on why the softmod stopped in Progress? Like I said I always thought the craziness came from s poorly softmodded hard dive - that’s why I build a fresh one - but it seems to be something else.

So I bought this xbox from my local pawn shop when i saw it come in for 45 bucks. I know there are better deals out there but this one looked clean and the stickers no the bottom where intact. Knowing the system hadn't been opened the first thing i did when I got home other than test the system (and relive halo 2 for a little while) was pull the case off to prep for the clock capacitor removal. For giggles and farts when I saw the focus chip above the cpu heatsink i tested the resistance on the ground port from the LPC bus and found what i'd like to think is a good condition 1.5v motherboard. Now I am really just looking for someone here with a little more experience to tell me if i found the legendary fable board or if I botched the test somehow. Also if it is real hat are the value of these? Thanks.
