  1. It can be used to connect a compatible USB flash drive to the Xbox for softmodding the console. As it will work just like a memory unit, storing game saves and an Xbox Live account.
  2. MS gave them away but you had to pay for shipping and handling $6.50 IIRC.
  3. The Xecuter BIOS has no HDD configuration routines. Install the new HDD. (IDE or SATA with a compatible IDE-to-SATA adapter,) Download, burn to DVD-R and boot the Hexen 2018 installer disk. Hexen takes about a minute to process the UnleashX dashboard's configuration file and display anything other than a blank screen. The dashboard will recognize that a new HDD is installed. You will be prompted to format the HDD. Follow the on-screen instructions to do so.
  4. On the Startech IDE2SAT2 adapter, is there a jumper across the ACD pins? If so, remove it and try again. What IDE device is being selected? MASTER or CABLE select. Since the 80-wire 40-pin IDE cables are generally flipped end-over-end to install in the Xbox, cable select (CABLE) will not function and MASTER should be used.
  5. Error code 7 - HDD timeout - bad/dead HDD or IDE cable issue (reseat all three connections). Verify that the HDD has power. 21502 = 2002 (2WWFF), 15th (x15xx) week made in Mexico (xxx02), on factory line #5, the 013237th produced that week in the whole factory (or that week on that line in the factory not exactly sure which). April 15, 2002 makes it in the v1.0 timeframe from 01/2001–10/2002 not v1.1 from 11/2002-04/2003 (dates are rough estimate especially those near the new revision change over). 4034 BIOS makes it a v1.0. A new HDD has to be locked using the proper password generated from the HDDKey stored in the configuration EEPROM on the motherboard and the information read from the HDD - model/serial number. You'll need to read the 8-pin serial eeprom's data to obtain the information to build a new LOCKed HDD for the Xbox. Read the 256 bytes of data from the chip with either an Xbox serial EEPROM reader/write and PC with a serial port and PonyProg software or a Raspberry Pi. running Linux and PiPROM software.
  6. The device sticking out of the controller could be the Phantasy Star Online USB Keyboard adapter. (https://imgur.com/PXCsIOa) The holes next to the DVD tray are probably for an IR sensor mod (not sure why there'd be two) to turn on/off the console with the DVD playback kit remote.
  7. Possible to save, yes. What's the error number in the upper left-hand corner of the screen? (It may not have one if the dashboard is the first 3944 release.) What are the last 5 digits of the serial number and manufacturing date on the stickers on the bottom of the console? Serial Number format: LNNNNNN YWWFF L = Factory Line Number NNNNNN = number of Xbox produced this week Y = last digit of year (200Y) of production WW = week of production FF = factory number produced in 01=Mexico, 03=Hungary, 05=China, 06=Taiwan
  8. Px HD Loader v1.3 download is available here . Many more Xbox modding apps available on that site too.
  9. No additional benefits using the Aladdin XT plus 2 as it only holds 1 BIOS. However, they can be modified by reprogramming the CPLD (Lattice LC4032 chip with a JTAG programmer) and swapping out the 49LF020 (256KB = 2Mbit flash) with a 49LF080 (1MByte = 8Mbit flash). Install the XBlastOS (256KB) and have 2 additional software selectable BIOS banks: 1 - 256KB and 1 - 512KB. https://assemblergames.com/threads/mod-aladdin-xblast.55068/
  10. What files/folders are on the C/E/F/G drives? Can you access the console using an FTP client?
  11. Delete all the files on the X, Y and Z drives - game cached content.
  12. XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 is available to write a softmod installer on the C drive of the Xbox HDD. You either need the eeprom.bin backup to UNLOCK/LOCK the Xbox HDD with XboxHMD23USB Beta 3 or hot-swap connect the Xbox's HDD after the console unlocks it to PC using a USB-to-HDD interface adapter.
  13. Please don't repack it and add a password on it. U forget to add the DL link? The file is available at emuxtras.net in the Downloads -> (Xbox) Homebrew-Ports section.
  14. First, determine which version you have? If it's a 1.0-1.5 open it up, remove the clock cap, clean off the leaked residue with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swaps. Repair any trace damage if the console acts strange when trying to power it on and/or ejecting the DVD tray. Then, softmod or hardmod it.
  15. Boot Hexen disc and Install XBMC Do you know if your Xbox is softmodded or hardmodded? If so, which and how so?
  16. Time for a thermal repaste of both the CPU and GPU. Is the hot air exhaust fan running inside the console? As well if it's a v1.0, is the GPU fan running?
  17. Welcome to OGXbox.com Mod it or lose it, KaosEngineer P.S. Have fun with your newly acquired black boxes.

  19. When power cycles or the IDE bus resets, the HDD will again be locked. You have to hotswap, leave power connected to the HDD, and change the IDE connection from the Xbox to a running PC. The PC cannot be rebooted as it'll reset the IDE bus once again locking the HDD. The only way to keep it unlocked is to remove the locking password. However, a softmodded system requires the HDD to be LOCKED to work. If you have a copy of the EEPROM saved after softmodding, you can use XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 or 3 to unlock and relock the HDD. As configured, XboxHDM23USB requires the Xbox HDD to be connected to the PC via a USB-to-HDD interface (IDE and/or SATA) adapter. (The PC and Xbox's grounds need to be tied together as the Xbox's ground floats - no Earth ground on the Xbox's AC power cord like the PC has.)

  21. For v1.0-1.5 Xbox's the clock cap is not necessary for the system to boot. The MS dashboard will start each time AC power is removed as the time/date will be lost. As long as AC power stays connected, they will be retained after a power cycle as the Xbox's power supply provides standby power to keep the clock running even when the rest of the console is off. However, V1.6's require the clock cap to boot. Do you know what version your Xbox is?

  23. Clock cap leaked electrolyte has damaged traces along the outer front edge on the bottom side of the motherboard. These 4 very thin traces carry signals to and from the system management controller to power on/off the console, eject/load the DVD tray and control of the front panel red and green LEDs. https://imgur.com/2YESah9 Remove the clock cap, clean the residue off the top and bottom side of the motherboard and anywhere else it has touched. Repair the traces (link for one repair solution on the imgur.com picture page posted above.)
  24. Seems the LT OPX has no recovery mode (update: or at least no released method to enter a recovery mode) like the other SmartXX modchips. The SmartXX OS on it is to be hardware protected. I think it is inaccessible without the SmartXX OS running. Once booted, the SmartXX OS can be flashed with a newer SmartXX OS.. There's also a RemoteFlasher program (see attached file) available to reflash the SmartXX modchips. (I personally don't have a SmartXX LT OPX chip to test.) The remaining portion (3.5MB) of flash memory on the modchip is available to hold additional BIOSes. To flash them, the SmartXX OS should be running. (Power button boot of the console.) FRAG'ing with a modchip installed generally means there's a problem loading the BIOS from the modchip. Bad connection between the LPC debug port and the modchip. You are sure that the wires are being connected to the correct pins on the LPC debug header port (LPC Debug Port Pinout). RemoteFlasher_v5.zip
  25. It looks like each pad separately bridged is to enable a different stored configuration. But don't see how those configurations are created. SmartXX_lt_opx_public.pdf
