  1. When booting HeXEn, is the Eject ring RED?
  2. Get into X3 Config Live (hold the white button on startup) then use the menu option Reset X3 Configuration to Defaults. Does it work now?
  3. Which version Xbox? Which BIOS and version of it are you booting from the X3 modchip? Evox - m7 ,m8, m8plus; X2 - 4979-4983 or 5035; X3 - Build 1879, 2914, 3029, 3294, etc.; ind-bios - 5003 or Beta Feb-11-05 (aka 5004) or something else. Which hard drive type is installed: IDE or SATA? If SATA, which IDE-to-SATA adapter? And, are you using a 80-wire 40-pin high-speed IDE cable with it?
  4. F is the first extended partition, number 6 in the list on the main page. When you run XBpartitioner v1.3, do you first get an error message screen stating that LBA48 support is not found in your BIOS?
  5. Which BIOS / Kernel version does it currently have flashed to it? which dashboard starts when you power on the console? Update: Okay UnleashX replacement dashboard. HeXEn start's it's own BIOS that supports the larger hard drives than 137GB which after formatting leaves ~123GBs for F with an older BIOS/Kernel version without LBA48 support.
  6. The replacement jewels I've found aren't the same domed shape as the originals. They are cut from a plastic sheet the same size as the opening in the top of the case and engraved/etched with a logo/text and can be attached where the original jewel mounted. See: https://www.chimericsystems.com/product/custom-xbox-jewels
  7. Create a free MEGA account. You get up to 50GB's to start. I believe the available space drops after 30 days but if the file's already there it doesn't get deleted. Not that this is going to be 50GBs.
  8. Which softmod did you use to mod the console? Does UIX even have an FTP server to upload new content to the Xbox's hard drive? I've not used it in a long, long time and have a hard enough time remembering what I did yesterday.
  9. I missed this post oh so long ago. Did you sell the X-BIT? Is it a 1.0 or 1.5 version? I believe those were the two different releaes.
  10. Which softmod package did you use to mod the Xbox?
  11. You can't flash a X-B.I.T. with the Xbox. You have to use the correct version of the X-B.I.T. dev team's flashing program for your modchip with a USB cable connected to the external bank select switch panel/USB port PCB. I believe it's either a 1.0 or a 1.5 version. The apps don't work across both versions of the modchip. I've never actually seen one of these modchips in real-life. I've only read about them in old web pages archived by the Wayback Machine.
  12. You are very welcome. Happy to see that you finally were able to make things work. Not sure why they were not in the first place. Now onto bigger and better adventures!
  13. Oh, don't write anything to the E drive. If XBPartitioner v1.3's not already there, upload it to C or run it off of a Hexen 2018 or TruHexen 2019 installer disc.
  14. Let's see if we can find the missing files first before redoing everything. They should not have disappeared from E. How much free space was left on E?
  15. Where were your games installed? The only partition that should have been affected is C. E, F and/or G should have remained the same as they were before running Quick Upgrade's default.xbe.
  16. Run XBPartitioner v1.3 and post a screenshot of the main screen showing all the partitions' settings.
  17. No need to download the source and build your own. Rocky5's has a google drive repository with everything prebuilt. Xbox Softmod Kit Updates / Build v1.1.7 /Utilities / Installer Variants / Extras Disc / Documents / Xbox Softmoddding Tool.zip thumb.jpg Read Me.url Changes.txt Note: Not all subfolders' content are listed only Build v1.1.7's.
  18. Information on two Xbox startup errors: 5 and 6 5 - kernel - HDD not locked (The retail xbox bioses require the hd to be locked) When you upgrade your hard disk drive for one that is larger, you most of the times use a new hard drive that you bought in the shop. Now, when you put this hdd in your xbox and you try to boot up with your chip off. It gives you error 5. Why you ask? Well i will try to explain it simple. The original (also called "Retail") hard drive is locked by MS. Why did they lock the harddrive? Well if it wasn't it wouldve been more than easy (in the start of xbox hacking) for hackers to change content on it. Thats why MS locks it. It is just a security measure. This locking proces uses information thats on the motherboard. The "Lock" on a xbox hard drive contains information that is based on the harddrive itself and the motherboard it came with. One thing that makes this clear: You can not change a retail harddrive with another one from an other not modded xbox. With every xbox there is only ONE i repeat ONE compatible harddisk drive. That is, if they are locked. If you don't mod your xbox (tsop or modchips) you can not change harddrives. Not even from another xbox. However when your xbox IS modified you can change your harddisk for almost every other harddisk (thats UNLOCKED). This means that even when your xbox is modified, you can not just put another (retail) XBOX harddisk in your xbox. However some smart people made programs that can lock or unlock your xbox harddisk on the fly. So when does the error occur? The only time this error should occur is when you boot up your xbox in original mode AND you have a harddisk in your xbox that is not yet locked. So now you ask what do i have to do to make your xbox work again? Well the answer is pretty easy. Boot up your xbox with the chip on. Preferably with a slayer evo-x cd. Now you choose "Eeprom management." Than you choose: "Lock hdd." It takes one second. After its ready it should say something like "Done" When it is "Done" just turn off your xbox. Disable your chip and try to boot in original mode. Now there should be no more error 5. 6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD If you understand the above, you should be able to understand what this means. It means you are trying to boot up the xbox with an harddisk that is locked in combination with ANOTHER motherboard than you are using it with right now. What can i do about it, you ask? Well place the harddisk back in the xbox where it came from. After that, UNLOCK the harddisk with the same procedure i explained above (see error 5). Now when the harddisk is UNLOCKED, put it in the xbox which gave you the error. Now when you boot up with the chip ON it should not give you an error anymore. However when you put the xbox on with the chip OFF your xbox will give you an error. (error 5) So to make sure you can boot original and boot with the chip ON. Next do the same as above: "Boot up your xbox with the chip on. Preferrably with a slayer evo-x cd. Now you choose "Eeprom management." Than you choose: "Lock hdd." It takes one second. After its ready it should say something like "Done" When it is ready just turn off your xbox. Disable your chip and try to boot original. Now there should be no more error. 19. Was the original softmod done using an older version of Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool? Did you use Rocky5's Quick Upgrade or Quick Update? How'd you format the 150GB drive? Was it already in the console and working correctly with an older softmod? F was ~140GB's or was it only 123GBs? Was there a G drive before the softmod upgrade? Run XBPartitioner v1.3. Take a screenshot of the main page. Post it here.
  20. I know of only one Windows application that can view the content of XISO format disc images (dot iso files) used for the Xbox - PowerISO.
  21. The number of required posts (had been 5) before allowing access to downloads has changed. It had went to 15 then something new about being an active member for some time before being allowed to see the links. google is your friend but not a really good one. It does take a bit of looking to find the google drive link in the pages (assembler-games.com) - TruHeXEn 2019 URL: https : // drive . google . com / file / d / 1uBSUnwnInQbXt7tCMmKqNXmMo5u_WMY2 / view remove all the extra spaces added. Don't use any Windows app to try and open the ISO file for either TruHeXEn 2019 or HeXEn 2018. Don't double click on it to open it, Windows doesn't understand the format to show you the content inside. Simply burn the dot iso disc image extracted from either's archive to DVD-R. Once burned, the PC can't access the burned disc's content either. Load it into your Xbox's DVD drive then power cycle the console to start the booting process.
  22. To check the Power and Eject buttons, measure the voltage level of the two pins, one for power and another for eject, at the PIC processor when you press the associated button for the pin. It should go from 3.3 Vdc to 0 Vdc when depressed and return to 3.3 Vdc when released. If not changing, start back tracking the connection of each button from the PIC towards the front panel til you reach the button itself. (Requires removing the Xbox case's front panel. A bit tricky to do to get to the PCB with the switches and LEDs.) With AC power connected, first measure the voltage level of the violet (conditioned power signal) and cyan (conditioned eject signal) colored pins of the PIC processor when pressing and releasing the power and eject buttons. If the voltage level does not change, move back to the same colored vias on the bottom of the picture above. If the voltage level changes there, the traces are broken somewhere between the via to the PIC processor - broken or damaged trace. Next, disconnect AC power. Change the multimeter to measure continuity, lowest resistance range. Connect the probes, black to ground and red to either the red or blue colored side of either surface mount resistor does the reading change when the associate button is pressed and released. Next, with AC power still disconnected, measure for a change in resistance level at the pin of the front panel connector to the motherboard associated with each switch. Do they change? If not, move to the single row of pins on the back of the front panel and measure the resistance for changes when the buttons are pressed. Do they change? If not, remove the console's front panel and disconnect the cable connecting to the motherboard. Now, measure for changes in the resistance across the traces connecting to each switch on the printed circuit board. With each step, you can determine where the problem lies - switch, front panel pcb, front panel cable, surface mount resistor on the motherboard next to the front panel connector, broken/rotted trace from electrolyte leak or production contamination.
  23. True. Depends what part he touched. AC power was connected so there are a few hot parts before the fuse but most likely after it. The heatsinks and other parts have live power present with AC power connected, not intended to be user serviced. The open-frame design used inside a closed case to protect them. No need for it to be enclosed in a protective casing inside the console. Unlike a PC's power supply where the user can get in and out of the case somewhat regularly.
  24. His console is a 1.1 with a Delta Power Supply Unit (PSU). It doesn't have the cracked solder joint problems like the Foxlink PSU. The AC power plug solder joints look good in the picture he posted. There is a fuse on the PSU; however, it is hidden underneath the transformer mounted on top of other components including the AC power plug on this model's printed circuit board (PCB).
