  1. It depends how you plan on using it. Cloning with Chimp 261812 - no - it needs to have a MASTER/SLAVE jumper to configure it to SLAVE mode when cloning then back to MASTER once the new drive has been prepped. Using a new hard drive with the TSOP reflashed with a modded BIOS or a modchip is installed - yes it will work okay. Connect the new HDD and adapter in place of the original hard drive and boot an installer disk such as HeXEn 2018 or 2019 to format and prep the new hard drive.
  2. You could try the XBE version of XBlastOS v0.56 (aka lpcmod_OS by psykochewbacca) to reflash the TSOP. I believe it supports a wider variety of controllers than the Gentoox Loader. Do you know the USB identifier value for your controller - the vendorID : productID pair? If you have a female Xbox controller port to male type-B USB cable, you can attach the controller to a USB port on your PC and use usbview to obtain the value.
  3. I'd say using either of those two options are on the same level of difficulty. Yes, it's the 24WC02J - 8-pin 2Kbit serial EEPROM (256 bytes) between the TSOP flash memory chip and the PIC processor (System Management Controller). Grimdoomer's tutorial web page on using a Raspberry Pi and PiPROM software to read the configuration EEPROM's data. ExtraordinaryBen's DuinoBoX at github.com. Edit: Once you have the data read, if the chip itself is not dead, load the eeprom.bin file created into Yoshihiro's LiveInfo_Beta_3-Xbox_v1.6 Windows application. It may show that one of the two checksum values are in error or the HMAC-SHA1 Hash of the entire content is bad. I think it will recalculate those values to fix the content when you use the save option to write a file to the PC. (I'm not 100% sure if it can do that or not.) You could also open it in a hex editor and try to determine if the content is corrupted. The configuration EEPROM's content is documented at https://xboxdevwiki.net/EEPROM.
  4. If you have an old backup of the configuration EEPROM's data (eeprom.bin file), restore it. There are three options to do so: Use a serial Xbox EEPROM reader/writer, a PC with a 9-pin serial port and PonyProg software Use a Raspberry Pi and PiPROM software Use an Arduino and DuinoBoX sketch Another possibiity is that the configuration EEPROM chip has died and needs to be replaced and the data restored to it (if you have a backup of it).
  5. Red flashing eject ring - configuration EEPROM data corruption.
  6. There are two more RAM chips on the bottom side of the motherboard. Edit: Many of the pins on the short sides of the RAM chips have no connection. The pads are present to hold the chip in place but electrically are unused. See the attached Samsung K4D63238M datasheet. The pins labeled N.C - no connection. Samsung K4D263238M.pdf
  7. Did a google search on GreenReloaded and came up with this web page: https://sites.google.com/site/unleashdomainx/unleashskins I'm not sure if the same named rar archive there's the skin you spoke of. I've not looked at it yet.
  8. What was this file? It has expired, no longer accessible on zippyshare.
  9. Which dashboard are you using: Evoxdash (aka RemoteX), UnleashX, XBMC4Xbox, or other? If you are using a crossover cable to directly connect the Xbox to your PC, you will need to setup static IP addresses on both the Xbox and the PC. Does the PC you are connecting the Xbox to have internet access? If yes, how so - wireless or a second Ethernet port?
  10. From the first picture, you must place a copy of the Xbox's eeprom.bin file that you want to lock the drive to in the folder where you run xboxhd.bat (XboxHDM23USB Beta 3) from. yes, the hard drive is unlocked - ATA Security: Disabled. The NOT FROZEN part is good too. It means your PC's BIOS has not sent a FREEZE command to the hard drive which would prohibit the hard drive from being locked.
  11. XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 main menu:
  12. You will not see it in Windows Explorer. It is not formatted with a filesystem that Windows recognizes. You have to run XboxHDM23USB to be able to lock the hard drive. Edit: The Beta 3 version of XboxHDM23USB has a menu option to check the current lock status of the hard drive.
  13. It's very straight forward how to lock and unlock an Xbox hard drive with it. Start XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 by double-clicking in Windows Explorer on the xboxhd.bat file. Allow any UAC queries to allow the program to run. From the menu, first list drives to make sure that the software sees the attached Xbox drive. Press enter as prompted to return to the main menu. Select the option to Lock the hard drive. Select the drive to lock and press enter.
  14. Does the USB-to-SATA/IDE adapter you purchased have an external power supply? For most 3.5" drives, USB alone cannot be used to power the hard drive. 2.5" drives can be powered by a USB port but not 3.5" drives.
  15. Use XboxHDM23USB Beta 3 to lock the hard drive. Place a copy of the eeprom.bin file for the Xbox you wish to lock the HDD for in the folder where you extract the XboxHDM23USB archive to. The file, xboxhd.bat, is located in the folder you place the eeprom.bin file in. Xplorer360 does not lock/unlock a hard drive. Only writes content to a FATX formatted drive.
  16. K: 1.00.5713.01 isn't a kernel version for Xecuter2 BIOSes. The console must have been booting the stock BIOS. Press the power button and hold it for longer than a second to boot the modchip's BIOS. You should see XECUTER2 below the big X at the end of the startup animation. After getting the modchip to boot, what is the Kernel version? IIRC, UnleashX shows it on the System Info page (Press (Y) to display that page.)
  17. Does the console show an Evo X shield in the upper left-hand corner of the screen when you power it on with the modchip enabled? The thing I hate about the BIOSes developed by EvolutionX is they left the version number the same as the stock MS BIOS they were based upon.
  18. From some very old posts (circa 2008) on forum.videohelp.com, Then as today, CMC MAG AM3 media are horrible. Some packs may work for awhile and other's may be complete duds, not readable immediately after burning or 6 months to a year later.
  19. Run NKPatcher Settings then select menu item 2. EEPROM 2.1 Advanced Settings 2.1.1 Hard Drive NULL Key Hmm, this video's old and does not show the latest display seen when NULLing the HDD key. P.S. I'll update with the newer video when I find the correct one. Edit: I have not been able to locate such a video. And, the one previously attached doesn't show the new version's status display during the HDD unlock / HDDKey NULL / HDD Re-lock operation justice so I removed it.
  20. You don't have to use the Extras Disc. Run the NKPatcher Settings app listed in the menu.
  21. The BIOS currently flashed to the modchip must not have the Err16 fix. Do you know which BIOS/Kernel version it is?
  22. You can't swap the hard drive until you have NULLed both of the consoles' HDDKeys and relocked the hard drive with the new key value. The NKPatcher Settings app in Rocky5's softmod has a menu selection to allow you to do so.
  23. It deletes files on the C drive but E, F and/or G should be there? I believe the default LBA48 configuration of his softmod is F up to 137GB and G takes the rest. If this option was not your previous LBA48 configuration, the contents will seem to have disappeared. Go into the NKPatcher Settings application and change the LBA48 settings to match what you used previously. It was most likely F only with a 200GB HDD. In addition to the Xbox's standard C, E, X, Y and Z drives, did you have only an F drive or both F and G?
  24. If games are hanging on startup, delete all of the files/folders in the X, Y and Z drives.
  25. In ImgBurn what does it show for the disc's Manufacturer ID? The value displayed in this example is MKM 01RW6X01. Source of image: http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=screenshots
