  1. Could be that SMR drives are not optimal for old xbox file systems.
  2. You have to edit bios with config tool which i don't know exist for cerbios ATM, or config file in HDD. Other solution would be is to replace stock .xbe files with patched ones, very simple to do. https://archive.org/download/xbox-480p-patches
  3. i think you need to have x2config.ini file in your harddrive, no idea where to get it and in what HDD location to put it. here, there is a tool to create a config. https://www.xbox-hq.com/html/article2052.html problem, you have to put is somehow in your HDD, maybe ftp would work during this bios screen, don't know.
  4. You are totally right. :)) I rest my case :D
  5. https://ghostcase.com/product/ghost-case-crystal-clear-xbox/ Your lot is missing bottom part
  6. Good point, but xbox already have fantastic load time with upgraded HDD and stock bios. Test results show that difference between SSD is minimal with stock bios. Yeah we need to see what UDMA 5 has to offer. SSD will have better random reads, seek time, better for fragmented files, since xbox uses extracted game files. But it this can be prevented by having a big drive. I like big HDD, because i load it with DVD movies/tv series and games. https://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Plus-Internal-Drive/dp/B09QQX27GM/ref=sr_1_8?crid=1AJNDJH8PW2GW&keywords=2tb%2Bhdd&qid=1669588027&sprefix=2tb%2Bhdd%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-8&th=1 8TB for 130$, do the math :DDD.
  7. Removing DVD drive is kinda useless, HDD space is cheap nowadays. Butchering perfectly fine case to slim it down is herecy, unless you make a custom case from scratch. Butchered cases looks not proportional, misses key aspects of original design. SSD is useless cost wise, unless you want a super silent console. Now for a good upgrades. MakeMHZ, pricey, hard to install, it has over-brightness issue, may crush some bright detail and there is no proof for complying with color standards. Alternative would be component to HDMI transcoder. Or simply using component cable with component input compatible TV. You can DIY component cable from xbox 360 cable. There are standalone xbox to HDMI cables, but they are hit or miss, proper trascoder would be a more reliable option. Modchip, you can TSOP if compatible motherboard. Modchip price ranges from cheap to expensive. But softmod is also a good option, if you don't use super big drives, ram upgrades, probably you could start with softmod and then buy modchip if you decide you want more from your xbox. RAM upgrades, not huge benfit TBH, unless for few chihiro games and for 128MB homebrew. Not worth in IMO if you not gonna use any of mentioned. HDD upgrade is a must, i think 2TB is max for softomd, but i see people using 3TB not sure if softmod, with modchip you can use way bigger drives. You can use cheap ide adapter for 8 bucks or less, works as good as brand one. I discourage replacing thermal paste from GPU, for CPU you can replace it, if you break the compound bond between heatsink and cpu, otherwise don't even touch them IMO. Fan upgrade is a good upgrade, best is to match characteristics of original FAN, otherwise you will have to guess fan speed to compensate for less air pulling fan.
  8. Simple sewing machine oil will do. Other options are welcome, but sewing machine oil is easiest to find and tested.
  9. You will have to remove burned PCB layers first, so there is no carbon left. And recreate burned PCB tracks with jumper wires.
  10. Recently discovered that it is possible to fully disassemble GPU fan and service it properly. Fan is not using ball bearings, it simply pops off if you force it gently with both fingers equal amount of pressure on fan blades as close to the base of assembly. Loud fan is quite again.
  11. Maybe for some reason file attributes got wrong. You may try to mount partition with game on with fatxplorer, and try to enable show hidden files on windows.
  12. Nope, didn't noticed this section at all. Me so shortsighted. It does contain this save, but it's modded :(. Well, i will have to continue playing it with xbox 360 from my flash drive. So many game saves to try for fun, thanks!
  13. I know there is a save game by action replay, that bypass the section after t3 is getting zapped, because of running this game on HDD this will cause a game breaking bug after loading to a next scene. I can't find that save game. Can someone help me with this. Thanks
  14. Fixed, had to delete icons thumbnails from programs folder 1. Preload games 2. Run Artwork installer 3. Open game folder, it will generate thumbnails from installed artwork If you open games folder before installing artwork, XBMC will generate thumbnails from original icons, and will require manual removal.
  15. Try deleting Games folder, might work. Never use XBMC for deleting or trasfering files. UnleashX is the best.
  16. [Persuade]Trust me, you really want to use CMR drive. [Persuade/Lie] SMR drives are as good as CMR. [Force Persuade] My next HDD will be CMR.
  17. What dashboard you use? unleashx reports wrong temperatures. Engineers are not stupid, so the stock fan is good. Don't bother replacing it, If you fan doesn't make any noise. Revert to stock fan speed.
  18. How to make cover art visible instead of stock icons? I have used rocky5's artwork installer, but this method is not working.
  19. I don't know why video mode resets to original mode, in my case to PAL, when i successfully switch to NTSC. It resets after cold boot. With SID softmod this not happens. I hate NTSC washedout boot screen when using xbox without virtaul eeprom.
  20. Rename originall "default.xbe" to "default1.xbe" or something you want, and upload to game folder patched .xbe file. 480p loader script is for games with corrupted 480p mode when running with 1.6 motherboard. https://archive.org/download/xbox-480p-patches
  21. could be bad output capacitors, tiny little SMD caps.
