  1. Tries to Boot 3x then FRAG (Christmas Lights) Usually due to a failed or improperly installed modchip or the IDE cable being plugged in upside down somewhere. Check modchip wiring and IDE cables. If you did not do any soldering, it could be a bad PSU. Has the Xbox been hard modded (Mod Chip or bios Re-flash)? If you have the 12 pin plug disconnected and link the Brown (standby 3.3 volt) to white (PowON) this will turn on the PSU and you can then test the Yellow(12 volt), Red(5 volt), Orange(3.3 volt). The voltages should be within 10% and as there is no load they maybe on the high side. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  2. Your TV is probably set to component (Red, Green, Blue) and is getting a composite signal (Yellow). I have no idea what you mean by this maybe post some pics. It sounds like some one has tried to mod a PC DVD drive for the Xbox. Post some pics. Sounds like the hard drive is dead or the 12 volt supply is low. Did you mean IND5003 bios. Yes it could have failed or had a bad flash. The easy fix is to leave the mod chip fitted. If it's just not working and giving a error message with the 500gb HDD then I would say that hard drive is dead. What Sata2Ide adaptor are you using? Have you connected the 500gb HDD to a PC? The easy way is have a working DVD drive and use the OGXbox Installer 2021 V1.5.3 disk from here. https://1fichier.com/dir/mX1kipIz This will format the HDD and install your preferred dash in the Xbox. The other way is to use Fatxplorer beta 3.0 https://fatxplorer.eaton-works.com/3-0-beta/ and that can format the HDD and it can also copy the required files to the HDD so the Xbox can boot. 3. It will help if you upload some pics to a share site and add the links here. The burnt smell will eventually fade a way and to speed up the smell fading give all the parts (Boards and cases) a good clean. If it's now FRAGing just after you changed the caps double and triple check you solder work for possible solder blob on the main board. 4. Like this, You remove the metal casing solder the completed PCB to the red/black with the LEDs facing away from the wiring. After you have tested it you can then refit the metal shield. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  5. Is this what you are looking for. You select the value of the resistor depending on how bright you what them, If the led's don't light up you have them backwards. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  6. If you hard mod it (bios re-flash or mod-chip) then you can fully remove the DVD, There is no way to use the original bios (soft-mod) without the DVD or at least the DVD PCB connected. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  7. The Aladdin mod chip uses a 256kb bios and you can use just about any of the bios burning programs to write the new file to it. Here is EV tools that is used to change the bios config (like fan speed) before you write it to the mod-chip. EV Tool.zip evox_m8+_67.bin I would also recommend you get a copy of OGXbox Installer 2021 disk from here https://1fichier.com/dir/mX1kipIz This disk has a Live Apps section you can also use to re-flash the bios and my go to flash program is Xblast then I use the Net flash option. 8. The caps look fine the only thing I could see is the AV port look like it may have had fresh solder work. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  9. The local repair guy will have rent and wages to pay plus with Covid19 lock downs his business has probably taken a 50% + drop. The main reason for disconnecting the PSU from the main board is so it's easier to work on. You don't need to un-solder the old connections 1st just heat the joint and add a small amount of fresh 60/40 leaded solder with some flux paste. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. Is it a version 1.0 as I received a email before I even received the adaptor saying they have a no sound issue on the 1.0 and offered a me refund. I tested it on my test screen and I got no sound but when I tried it on my main TV it works fine with Dolby Digital and DTS enabled I also get not sound on my test screen when using the internal N64 HDMI that also uses the digital audio signal and by setting the audio to stereo in the MS dash fixed that. 11. Yes but why? I copied Avalaunch, Unleash, MSdash to f:/apps You need to change the avalaunch.xbe to default.xbe and the same with the others and they appear slow to load. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  12. Best to start by posting some pics of both sides of the main board Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  13. The yellow wire will push done and be ok try heating the other side of the connector ( the white part) with a hair dryer until it's warm to touch and make sure you hold all of the wires tightly. 14. If you mean here that's normal. You should be able to find someone but if you get stuck pay return post to ACT and I will resolder and test it for you. You will need to unplug it from the main board ant the 12 pin plug is real tight I find if you warm up the plug/socket it's easier. If you hold/push down here with 2 fingers. Then grab the cables like this. Then rock the plug back like this. Then rock it forward. It comes of easy. 15. I just looked at a version 1.0 here that has the same PSU and the colour's are correct. Where in Aus are you? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  16. Resolder the 2 points I circled and try it again. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  17. Try using the EvoxM8 plus bios as you customise it with evtool program on your PC This is how I have my EvoxM8 bios set Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  18. You ne to resolder the AC in connector. It also looks like you have wired a 1.2-1.4 supply on version 1.0 and the PowOk and PowOn are backwards. The colours are correct. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. you need one of this item https://www.amazon.com/Original-Xbox-Controller-Breakaway-Cable/dp/B0064QNH68 I had one of these and it was not 100% compatible with a lot of the Xbox games . Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. That adaptor is use to connect a USB thumb drive as a memory card and I have used one to connect a wireless keyboard/mouse receiver as well. To connect a Xbox360 or Xbox one controller you need to make a OGX360 interface and a wireless receiver. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. On the 1.0 - 1.1 the bios chip is a 1024kb size and most bios files are 256kb so the flashing soft where will make 4 copies to fill the chip. You could try the 3 wire trick as this makes the Xbox boot from a different bank on the bios chip. This is way of adding switches to make a poor mans X3, Open Xenium. The other option is to replace the bios chip from a salvage 1.0 - 1.1 board or remove the bios chip and use a external programmer to reflash it. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  22. You can leave the Xbox soft modded until the Xbox has been hard modded then you will need to remove the soft mod files as most soft mods and hard mods don't play nice with each other.. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. If you are going to fit a mod chip then you don't need to soft mod it 1st. Although if you can solder a modchip it's less soldering to reflash the bios on a 1.0-1.4 and the 1.2 - 1.4 you don't have to remove the main board as the 2 links are on the top of the board and you can even use a conductive pain to make the 2 links need. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. Quick answer its Yes Download and burn a copy of the OGXbox installer 2021 v1.5.3 to a DVD-r as slow as the software will allow. Yes but it's not really necessary to reflash the bios unless you are upgrading the hard drive. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. If you re re-flashing the on board bios you 1sst add the 2 links to the board then flash the new bios file, Once it's re flashed the load a installer disk like the OGXbox installer 2021 and it has a remove soft mod option. If you fit a mod chip you can load the same disk after fitting it and use it to remove the soft mod files.
