  1. I still consider it low-cost however, since there's no advanced circuitry involved such as CPLDs and FPGAs. I am looking to one day develop some form of Aladdin clone which doesn't involve 'cheapmods' so to speak.
  2. Exactly! Cost is still involved if you are purchasing a PLCC-32 SMD socket, especially getting ahold of the 49LF020 chips. I had to get them off eBay (old stock ofc) since they no longer manufacturer them, all that is available are a bunch of clones even some of them are resurfaced 49LF020/A/Bs which do not work with this chip.
  3. This thread is going off-topic. Any questions relating to this modchip, post your replies.
  4. I haven't learned HTML in over 2 years. Its a WYSWYG designer, so any changes made will be shown.
  5. Thanks mate. Its designed to look like a 90s GeoCities site since nostalgia is my style.
  6. In addition to the IP address, you may want to change the range slighty in case it interfers with your network.
  7. Requirements: Single CAT5 ethernet cable. PC with an ethernet port. Xbox console. Configuring the network adapter: Connect one end of the ethernet cable to your Xbox and then the other end on the back of your PC's ethernet port. Go to 'Network and Sharing Centre' and select the first current Wi-Fi connection. Select 'Properties' > 'Sharing' and check the box labelled 'Allow other users to connect through this computer's network'. If there is more than one connection in the drop-down list, then select 'Ethernet' and click 'OK' twice. Next, select the ethernet connection. Select 'Properties', check the box labelled 'Internet Protocol Version 4' then select properties. From the properties window, make the following changes: IP address: 192.168.0.1 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.0.100 Once you've made the following changes, click "OK" twice. Download WinSCP or FileZilla, any client will do, which will be used to connect to your Xbox. Setting up network configuration on Xbox: (This section will only be focusing on setting up FTP for UnleashX, your dashboard may follow a different setup). From the UnleashX dashboard, select 'Xbox Admin' > 'System' > 'Settings' > 'Network'. Make the following changes in the 'Network' section: Type: Static IP address: 192.168.0.2 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.100 DNS 1 & 2: 0.0.0.0 Press 'B' once, when you are asked if you want to make changes to the configuration, select 'Yes'. Go back four times using the 'B' button, then scroll down and select 'Reboot'. Once the system reboots, the new static IP address will show up in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Connecting to your Xbox: To confirm that everything works, open up the FTP client of your choice that you have installed. Enter the IP address of your Xbox, set the port to '21' and click 'Connect' or something similar in your client. When asked for both a username and password, the defaults are 'xbox' (no quotations).
  8. Not exactly one of the first modchips. The earliest I could think of were the Xtender and the Enigmah which require 29/30 wires soldered to the TSOP points.
  9. Very interesting to look back at some ancient modchips.
  10. The Cheapmod Mini is a modchip in a small form-factor for the Original Xbox. Based off the Cheapmod schematics, the chip comprises of a single 49LF020 (256k) LPC flash to fit (1 x 256k) custom BIOS. Features: 256k LPC flash fitted for (1x256k) custom BIOS (e.g. Cerbios). Compatible with almost any Xbox revision - from 1.0 to 1.6b. Boot imports, backups and DVDs region free without any restrictions. Running unsigned code such as homebrew and multimedia players. Installation of a custom dashboard (e.g. UnleashX). Easy to upgrade the HDD (no HDD locking required). Very easy to install - just plug-and-play via pin header. Low-cost and affordable. Free and open-source. GitHub repository: https://github.com/m4x10187/cheapmod-mini
  11. Are you ever going to release those files for free?
  12. Upgrade the HDD to an SDD plus a StarTech IDE to SATA adapter, games will run much faster then. Be sure to switch the existing 40 wire cable with an 80 wire.
  13. Hello, I'm SylverReZ. I'm a hardware enthusiast, data preservationists and console modder. I enjoy soldering and modding my own consoles for a hobby and I'd love to share my advice and my journey to the world, without gatekeeping it all in one space. This place seems to be reasonably friendly and seeing as I'm contributing to the best community in the world, here's my kudos to you all. https://pronouns.page/@SylverReZ
  14. Yep, I saw that video of his. He made a more in-depth one for Game Boy development.
  15. There's no D0 point on 1.6 revisions. LFRAME needs to be cut and D0 on the chip needs to be grounded.
