  1. I would never trust buying something from one of those apps. Good to see a success story tho.
  2. Bump. I’ve reached out to @SS_Dave earlier in the week but no reply. From all my digging and asking around, he’s the only one that seems to have info on converting my 220v PSUs to 110v. Does anyone else have more information on this topic? I’ve posted in multiple places and reached out to many people. Nobody has any information on this other than this picture posted by SS_Dave some time ago. I’m amazed at the lack of information on this subject, after all these years. https://imgur.com/a/FLD6s4k
  3. I wish Don’t question it. Right after I bought this one, another guy sent me an offer for $218. Had to get this one with matching controller and extras. It was a steal
  4. After years of patience and stalking eBay, my grail has been acquired. Now to get with @NeMesiS and pimp this baby out.
  5. You can’t go wrong with the drill attachment that I use. It’s a perfect cut and leaves a very small lip for the jewel to sit back on.
  6. Dremels can be very handy if you're cutting the case. I've done any major cutting that requires one in the longest time. My first jewel mod was with one. Now I use a 2-1/2" wood hole cutter that's attached to a drill bit. Makes it so much quicker and cleaner.
  7. The top part is tougher than the bottom. I just use a small flathead screwdriver to pry up the metal tabs that are gripping the screw holes. Most ppl, including myself, just throw those away afterward. So it's your choice to be very careful or just pop it off. The bottom will just come right out once everything is removed.
  8. As the title states, it’s time to get some updated tips on case modding. Im currently looking for newer/cleaner methods of reattaching jewels after clearing them. With all of the new products being available and unexpected uses for others, I’m extremely interested in hearing what you all do and how. I’ve shared a few of my methods here and there, so share some that you think are helpful. Share anything about LED mods, Painting, and so on.
  9. Act like you’ve never held a spray can in your life, and give a piece of scrap a good coat at a close distance. You will almost immediately see the bad results with that stuff. If you can’t tell, I had to learn the hard way. Sanding an Xbox down multiple times is a major pain so I’m just trying to save you the headache. I’ve had enough frustration for the both of us. Edit before even posting: I’m lazy and don’t want to correct that paragraph. It immediately hit me that I only sanded it down once. Had my buddy sandblast one coat off, which look ruined until that paint hit it.
  10. If you’ve never used chrome or silver spray paint, be very careful not to overcoat it. Highly recommend doing very light coats at 12” or more away from the surface. You’ll regret it if not done slowly and several light coats. Otherwise it will most likely get the orange peel crackling and you’ll have to sand it down and start again. Silver and chrome are the worst
  11. I’ve been way out of the loop of updates lately, but I thought this was already a thing for the HD+ as long as you aren’t running a stellar chip.
  12. Be sure to wet-sand beforehand or apply a good primer coat for metal. https://imgur.com/a/lbqAUnO
  13. Not sure if this shines any light on this for you or not. You can always reach out to Kaos and see what he recommends.
  14. Have you checked for trace rot on the bottom of the board where the clock capacitor is located? Here are the points to track down and test continuity. https://imgur.com/a/9HoxSlq
  15. Just checking in to see if there has been any definitive answer on safely converting PAL to NTSC. Id love to convert these PAL PSUs for use in repairs.
  16. My assembly went flawlessly and the case was very good quality. More than happy to share the seller I bought from. I did opt to use the OG power and reset buttons purely for cosmetics but it came with those as well and even new decals.
  17. These will be on AliExpress after release for half the price. No way in hell I'm paying $125 + $40 shipping. They've lost their damn minds. Edit: My reasoning, they're still trying to sell, incomplete SNES shells for $120+. Got mine from AliExpress for $55 shipped and it came with every shell part needed. Game slot and controller ports.
  18. Is it possible that those discs are scratched or dirty? If they didn’t work before the mod either, this seems like a logical cause. Are you trying to play ripped copies of your discs or downloaded rips? If they’re copies of your discs, then I would lean even more so to the discs being damaged.
  19. Please keep this going as I have several PAL PSUs I've removed from converted consoles. It would be wonderful to safely convert those PSU's into trustworthy NTSC compatible backups.
  20. @NeMesiSDidn’t doubt you for a second and knew it was just a matter of time before the wall was torn down. I do believe you’ve just leveled up sir.
  21. I agree 100%. I’ve lost count on how many I’ve modded and never been burdened by this issue. Of course I always just stick to beaten path also. Fixing a softmod or recovering a HDD shouldn’t be this difficult. Show that thing who the boss is.
  22. Get out of my head
